Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
hey there..bumped into this thread and saw all the chaos in here and thought i could help..well abhisheik these are the options you have if u want to get an n900 for urself..since cash is the only possible mode of payment here..it rules out all chance of online shoppin websites within the us becuase the address details have to macth and i dont know if theres a way to bypass this..so craigslist is an option if ur frend can contact the dealer and then ship the fone to u..the same would apply if u got pals kin dubai who can buy it and ship it..i blv there are chances tht the fone is available in india itself..will cost u a bomb thoough and could be another option instead of talkin all the trouble otherwise

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
Hey all.
Shouldn't we be trying to make Nokia realize that Indian market should not be ignored like this? Go ahead and sign this petition http://www.petitiononline.com/N900/ And also here are my ramblings on N900 and its absence in the Indian market http://www.lordoftheweb.info/981/n900-in-india/ |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

u gotta enable the vodafone mobile connect service. apparently this happens to most 3G phones on Vodafone. its best if u get some unlimited data pack. I used Aircel(Karnataka) for sometime wen i was in India on my N900.. worked nicely.. :) |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
I've not used Airtel live on N900.But Mobile Office works without any problems.
|
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
unlimited data pack is way over budget for mee or anyone for that matter. i think ppl will have to go for vodafone mobile connect till 3G is avalibale. BSNL gives good packages for around 400rs..i hope vodafone maintains that atleast and doesnt make it expensive .

if you have not received the settings, call up Airtel customer care and ask them to send the settings to your mobile. That would be the easy way! |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
just to inform users of vodafone live...i am able to use vodafone live on my n900. I smsed for the settings on their given no which u can find on their site and get the settings. you save them. but you have to go to internnet connections and manually enable to use http proxy has i found it doesnt get selected by default. once you do that and save and restart and u will be able to surf.
ENjoy ! |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
I will be spending 2 months in Mumbai from the end of march. What would my best internet connectivity options be?
|

Well if you want 3G connectivity going on your phone then thats available only on MTNL and BSNL for now. Otherwise other things u can get with airtel, vodafone , aircel etc. |

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
hi buddies. here is my story..
i bought my phone on 19dec from a mobile dealer. the grey market price i paid is 34000rs. well cheap than for wht i paid for the second phone that arrived from Uk for 40000Rs. i have been excited since day 1 when nokia announced it. and now i am a proud owner of it. well i had problmes with gprs thing at first. i use vodafone and the data package sucked big time from vodafone. as it is 2G and nothing more it can offer. . than finally MTNL 3G was there and i got one for my N900 and now i am live nytime when i am out in mumbai. indoor i use wifi. guys for vodafone and airtel u wil have to manually input the proxy setting to get it started. well only thing i hate is the battery life. well rest is good. hope developers get more apps and fix bugs for all of our N900. any questions. pls fell free to ask. have fun |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
I think I am the only unlucky fellow here. I bought the N900 before anyone else (I was in the very first batch of Amazon). I got it delivered to my friend in the US who received it for me on the Dec 4th. And the sad story is that till now, it hasn't reached me. I am expecting it this week. I even took a BSNL 3G SIM in the mean time.
In the US itself I got it shipped to 2 different places which cost me more than 50+ dollars :( I am Very Very Sad & Disappointed. |
Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
so sorry to hear that. but even i had bitter experience.. i had booked mine in nov in uk and my friend was suppose to get it on first week of dec. but his plans got delayed and in the end the phone arrived in grey market and less 6grands less . well happens.

i also own an n900 UK device from the 3rd of december. yes u r right i had to manually do the proxy settings for vodafone gprs. The only problem im facing till now is that the GPS does not connect when i use it thru gprs. Else the gprs works absolutely fine. While connecting thru Wifi the gps connects almost instantly. Are you facing a similar problem.?? regards somekeystrokes |

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
Nice to see that some of you guys in India are using the n900. Nokia should release it in India. The no. of customers who will buy this is definetly more than the us and uk combined. If nokia do not act fast and release it there... i am sure apple will release the next iphone and nokia will lose more market share.
If they released the n97.... i dont see why they are not releasing the n900 |

Thats because Vodafone GPRS speed is not uptoo the mark. If u have opted for the packet data plan of 799pm. than i suppose it will become instant. but even than I was very dissapointed with the speed as i am always connected to OVI,Skpye and Gtalk on my phone. So i opted for MTNL 3G card..and it ROCKS!!! Just cross ur finger and wait for 3g plan to come to Vodafone soon or buy the MTNL 3g Sim and u will rule ur phone! |

well one bad news is that i read in todays papers that 3G Auctions have been delayed once again...which means we might get 3G by other providers in mid 2011, ITs a shame...! |

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?
has anyone found any good leather case for N900. I searched lots but not able to find one. India times shopping do show Nokia CP-321 the original by nokia for n900 but they are biggest cheaters. I had bought from there and there was no sign of that even after 13 days then when i called they said it was already shipped but they themselves had no idea where it was, since i hadnt got it. Finally after lotta mails and calls to higher authroties i got my money back so refrain from buyin from india times shopping. Prefer to stick to websites like ebay.in but there is nothing currently there.
The case i am temporarily using is a bit tight. So anyone got any cases ??? |
