still better than nothing (iPhone won't work at all at -20 gloves or no gloves)

Again, ********. Ask the Polish people that are here.
More than 50CM of snow, still using n900 in gloves.
I use gloves in the winter, and cause of the way the screen is built you CAN use it even with a condom on your fingers.

Look at the pic I posted. Then good luck using the N900 with my gloves.

THEN get new gloves! geez, dont complain that you cant use device cause of gloves you're wearing. How daft can you be mate?
I use thin leather TM Lewin gloves with kashmere inside. Warm even in -20oC. And can even hold my weenis to pee :)
You dont have to wear skiing gloves.

I can say I cant see the screen in googles on top of a mountain. or that I dont get reception in a undergraund station in London.

Thank you. I will remember next time I buy a new piece for my wardrobe to keep in mind the N900 ergonomics.

That's ur view too i suppose.
And where's a reply to the Apple thing? Where are 3d tablets?
Maybe you will have to take a special 'chill pill' to see in 3d? But they had those in 70s. See different colours etc.. :)

Apple states: Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F
(0° to 35° C)

Users report that the screen stops working pretty much below 10° F

Good luck with a winter snow emergency and calling for a tow out of a snow drift or something. There ain't no app for that.

But here is a fun fact. At 7° F, your tongue will stick to the iPhones glass screen. If that should occur, experts recommend using an N900 to call the local Fire Department. :)

And where are the N900 operating temperature numbers? It's not in the booklet that came with it, not in nokiausa.com specifications. Where is it?

Hi just thought I'd chime in.

3D LCD is not new.

http://www.3d-forums.com/autostereos...splays-t1.html

But in the end it's just another gimmick from the king-of-all-gimmicks company, IMO. What will it add to the "experience"? Just another bell, not much more.

Do your own research buckwheat.

Better yet, I'll take a page out of your own clown book. Show me where it says the N900 won't work. :)

If this would have been worth it, we would have had it a long time ago on the PC.
Just another crappy gimmick.

Either way way I was going to ask when somebody was going to ban that fanboy "OrangeBox" but I see someone already has, THANKS!;)

haha if all the rumors are true then it will run a OS similar to the iPhone, then you are all back to square one, same problems and restrictions, then youll all sell it and get a N900....

Not sure about the temps...

But I have been living in Finland, before moving to beautiful Lisbon recently, and they are having one of the coldest winters of time and I used my N900 all the time... Even calling my wife with gloves similar to yours (not very fun thing to do but... doable) while scratching the damn ice out of the windshield.

My itouch at some point stopped worked INSIDE of my car... took from my jacket pocket, connected to car sound system and... dead.

So I am telling you man... It works great, might not be that fun to use but at least it has a stylus...

But if you can answer me something is, why do you stay here dude? You seem not to like Nokia and its products, which is fine, but why ruining for other people? I dont like Apple products but I dont waste my time at their forums bashing that horrible piece of software that iTunes is...

Sometimes you even have valid points but with all of this weird posts you discredit yourself... Dont take it personally I am not trying to insult you or anything so dont throw rocks at me :P

Re: And this is what will kill Nokia and other tablets

3D UIs are a _disincentive_ to me. I don't have stereoscopic vision, and things that try to force stereoscopic images (3d movies, those pictures that are a bunch of random dots, etc.) all give me headaches if I try to use them.

Any "3D interface" (actual, not just things that have a 3D look) has to be something I can turn off, or I wont buy it. 3D TV's? Not interested. 3D computer displays? Not interested. Actively, decisively, not interested.

This is all good until you want to play music and use another app at the same time.

Try multitasking on the iPhone at any temperature!

Sorry, but they WERE just more consistently better. :) Still, I'm not sure how ANY of that thread is relevant.

Re: And this is what will kill Nokia and other tablets

Well, technology required is not anything new, here is example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw

However using camera to detect user-screen relative position is a bit harder, tho not impossible. And it is surely not a hardware dependent.

On a sidenote tracking eye movement is useless as the angle your eye moves is too low to make a difference, you just need to detect a relative head position to a screen.

Also I don't see much use for that technology in a tablet.

Re: And this is what will kill Nokia and other tablets

Sounds more like it provides parallax, not "3D." That said, parallax adds a huge amount of depth to a 2D image (check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw by Johnny Chung Lee, freaking awesome) and if Apple can do it, I'm sure it could be done on the N900.

What -value- that would provide is wholly debatable, however. Be an awesome project, too bad my opengl skills suck :(

I'd be more impressed if it even tracked both the eye movement as well as how far you're focusing. Hmm.. is there a way to detect how someone's eyes are focusing?
