Indeed. To fix #8328 and #8111, Catorise creates a wrapper for most of the apps which are, by default, on the first page of applications.

These are applications which are pre-started to make them start quicker (and so Nokia's main apps seem more responsive). However, there is a bug in hildon-desktop whereby there must be exactly one instance of these icons in the menu, otherwise they won't work. Since Catorise puts them in (for example) Network and All, this causes problems.

Therefore, Catorise puts the real one in (say) Network and a "shim" in All. This means that if you haven't added a shortcut to Phone to one of your desktops you'll be able to add the shim and the original: both show up in the "Add shortcut" dialogue.

There is nothing that can be done about this (apart from fixing hildon-desktop so that the shims aren't needed); but it doesn't cause any problems: both shortcuts will work and it won't slow down your device booting or cause instability. The shims themselves take up practically zero space on the rootfs (about 0.4KB) and - as said above - many people consider it a feature :-)

comment 42 on that page fixed it. I must have somehow gone over 32 directories in MyDocs somewhere along the line. Fixed it by condensing some things, putting some game directories all under one directory called games.

Just installed Catorise on a freshly Flashed n900 and bam: duplicated entries! I dont know why Bugzilla Bug #5838 has been marked as fixed? :x

Duplicate entries where? This thread is talking about two types:

1. In the desktop Add shortcut dialogue: Catorise (feature-ish): #8328
2. In Hildon's file picker dialogue: hildon-desktop (bug): #5838

I have uninstalled Catorise (because I don't know if it is compatible with PR 1.2) but I still have all the double default application shortcuts in the menu and even folders on the eMMC.
How can I fix it and is Catorise compatible with PR 1.2?

Catorise is compatible with PR1.2. Obviously the re-arrangement mode makes no sense, but it causes no problems. There's also a minor issue with Ovi apps being mis-categorised (but I'm still hopeful for an API to allow me to do it properly).

Will it be possible to use the PR1.2 feature to move shortcuts from one category to another in combination with Catorise?

I can't see how, unfortunately, having played with the SDK. Catorise would need its own menu editor.
