Re: [problems] recaller

Hello,

I discovered the recaller and love the idea. But, it doesn't work for me. Which audio-source do I have to take record a call in duplexmode. There is the System and Phone mode where the voice of the phone partner ist well recorder and the dictaphone mode, which records my voice perfectly. (And of course bluetooth...)

Is there any way to record a call in two ways?

Thanks for hints!

Bye

Mine records well both ways with source: Phone.

Re: [problems] recaller

Request to the developer.

Can you possibly replace the phone number on the recorded audio file with the name of the caller. Possibly add an option in the settings to use either the nickname, first/second name or a combination.

It would also be nice to be able to specify how the date and time should be formatted for the file name for easier readability.

I also do store them in a custom folder - it works fine.

The bug is that when you choose a new folder it is not updated in the overview. If you exit from the settings and open them again you will see the folder you previously chosen.

I believe he means sip/voip and not only gsm calls.

Re: [problems] recaller

Frankly, I never checked. I assumed that Phone gets a "ring" in any case, and, since it dumps from the audio subsystem, I saw no reason for it to not work. I assume I assumed wrong?

Saturn 2010-06-23 22:47

Re: [problems] recaller

I assume Recaller just needs to listen to one more dbus event (i.e. for voip), but might be wrong and it's more complicated.

I have the same issue.
Anyone have the solution?

Recaller notifications do not affect focus. Any other apps installed? Shortcutd and Phone speaker switcher can cause this by design.

Re: [problems] recaller

I've recently been having "stuttering" or "buzzing" phone audio and suspect that this may be from PR1.2 and/or Recaller 2.0. (T-Mobile US)

Turning off Recaller seems to have resolved this, but it may also be due to too many active apps (I seem to have had multiple Web and Pidgin windows open).

Are others experiencing this?

ndi 2010-06-29 17:59

Re: [problems] recaller

Yes, and it's not recaller, though it does help a little. It does this with every OS release, every carrier, regardless of installed apps. It's just the people notice when something is affecting audio.

If you find this at an annoying level, try to switch to WAV, which puts a lot less stress on the CPU. Drawback being, files are huge. I transfer and encode up to 700M a week.

There's a reason Phone app locks CPU at 600 MHz for the duration. Also, I understand it has all kinds of priorities. Still fails, it sometimes takes seconds for it to die down from the choppiness and buzzing. Overclock doesn't help much. I did notice, however, that at 900 MHz it tends to only do this when answering, rather than in the middle of calls too.

Re: [problems] recaller

I'm going to try turning off "auto-rotation" for the phone app and see if that helps.

Some additional hints here
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=56945

Edit --2010-07-01 -- turning off rotation seems to have helped. I still sometimes get a buzz or two, seemingly when recaller "picks up" the connected call automatically. Too many variables to know if this is really an improvement, but I have to agree that turning off rotation is "a good thing" for even just usability reasons.

ndi 2010-06-29 19:14

Re: [problems] recaller

I'm already active in that thread and have tried it. Rotating not only does nothing to recording, because it never pauses pulseaudio, but my phone is locked to portrait and I still have the issues.

However, I do recommend locking phone rotation for other issues. It's a good idea.

I have tried this... but everytime when I need to finish the call the phone app is minimized, and I need to wait the rotation to finalize.

Re: [problems] recaller

Hello!

Consider me a n00b. This is my first post here and I have quite a few things to rant about. Starting with the recaller widget (Note, by rant I mean mere annoyances to report that will hopefully be addressed in this forum). It worked quite well for a while, just as expected even with acc encoding there were no hiccups unless I had too many apps running. I am not sure what caused this bug to activate now - I have found mixed results in different scenarios and settings. My recaller seems to be a little unstable and sometimes doesn't stop recording. These are my observations:

NOTE:

A. I do not have any other programs installed that might conflict with the recaller widget. There is only one instance of the widget running. I have tried uninstall and reinstall but that didn't help.

B.I have decided to permanently switch to Wav because acc encoding may or may not have to do with the recaller not stopping after the call is terminated. But it seems to be working fine when wav is selected and I don't want to fix something that is not broken.

Problems in behavior:

1. Whenever I want to record by tapping the recaller widget, it records, but then it does not stop when I tap on it again. The only solution is to reboot the device.

2. Another strange thing noticed was when I made calls while my USB data cable was plugged in, the widget starting behaving normally. It showed all the reminders properly and stopped recording when the call was over ( before that it wasn't even stopping after the call was over).

3. This is more of a feature request (that I will add to the wiki as well). I have noticed there was no option in settings to record skype calls. Now I have the cheapest plan from T-mobile and I like to conserve my shared minutes (which are shared by 5 people) by using skype as an alternative to cellular calls. I like to be able to record skype calls as well.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Re: [problems] recaller

a) welcome to the forum

b) yes, it does all that, we hate it too. Good observations though. Switched to wav myself for a while, now I'm back to AAC because of overclocking and I figured out why it stuttered when I answered.

Recaller doesn't record any calls since a long time for me :/
Strange because at the beginning there's a few month this app worked great.
Is this issue has come since PR1.3 ? maybe yes maybe not, I don't remember ...

I heard a lot positive reviews about IMCapture for Skype ( www.imcapture.com ) , anybody used this call recorder?

Solved guys !!

I solved recaller problem...my recaller was not stopping recording after a call even if i tried to do it manually...but i figured something....that i changed my recaller dir to mydocs/phone calls from this moment recaller had its problem...so i made a new file called ( recaller ) in mydocs and changes the recording dir in the recaller settings to mydocs/recaller folder....its now recording very normal, stops after a call or after a manual record...i hope this helps guys....

It helped, but now my eyes hurt!

Re: [problems] recaller

No dice, I have always had a folder for recordings. I start mine with a dot so the blasted indexer no longer lists them in media player, also, the tracker conflicted with the recorder and locked the file.

So, use .recalls in MyDocs, switch to .wav or .aac(if you have the power) and exclude path from indexer for good measure.

Also, my eyes hurt too. Making text large and blue doesn't increase its value. We read everything anyway. Also, you should look into that dot thing you have there.

Re: [problems] recaller

Talking about the upgrade of recaller app available yesterday. http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/recaller/
Records works now (it didnn't work at all in my previous version whatever I do).
But like said in posts above, it doesn't stop ... "currently recording" file.
Then I also made a different recaller file dir and it's work fine now.
Thanks for sharing this solution :-)

Just started using this today. Seems to be working great. Automatically starts and stops recording on phone calls (outgoing and incoming). Never tried previous versions, so can't compare.

Whaaat is that how you get media player to not show it??? I'm such a n00b, didn't even think of that

Now I can let it record my phone calls again, if the bugs are sorted I guess.

ndi 2011-05-26 23:58

Re: [problems] recaller

It's one way. Another is to exclude the records folder from indexer. Use tracker-cfg and add the folder to exclusions. Remember to reset tracker database.

Re: [problems] recaller

Just downloaded the new version of Recaller last week and started having problems with my alarm not working properly (no sound); and some of my shortcuts would not work.
Restarting the phone solved this problem for a couple of hours before it re-appeared.
I uninstalled some programs including recaller (ones that have had recent updates) and restored the phone to factory settings.
I then slowly installed these programs giving a couple of hours between each one. I had no problems until I installed Recaller when the problems I previously described started again.
I have uninstalled Recaller and everything seems to be working fine.

Why this post? I would like to know if anyone has encountered similar problems? and if so did you manage to rectify it?

Alternatively does anyone know of a program similar to Recaller as I have come to rely on it quite heavily.

Re: [problems] recaller

Hello,
I hope usefull the following:
I have installed last version of Recaller.
Since a few days notification of starting recoding appears about every 30 secs, without any reason. I noted that SD card is full, and I think this is the cause of reasonless notifications.
bye

ndi 2011-05-31 10:50

Re: [problems] recaller

Iemai: yes, it sometimes gets stuck recording and needs a reboot. Hence the messages.

rafew: Yes, I do have those issues, never thought they would be tied to recaller, namely alarms either don't sound or the ring for like 3 seconds.

Hmmm.

rafew 2011-06-01 10:30

Re: [problems] recaller

ndi: I know I should do further testing and confirm that it isn't both recaller and another program combining to cause the problem; but I just don't have the time.
Although I am convinced the recaller is part of, if not the whole, problem as the problems only started manifesting themselves after the installation of Recallers lastest update.

Anyone know where I can get the previous version of recaller to try and test my theories?

apt-get install recaller=0.4.0-1 EDIT: that version is ancient, better not use it. Sorry..
Maybe you're looking for this: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...aller/2.0.0-7/

for info, I don't have those problems and I have been using/testing the new version for more than a month already.
