Installing Enna manually using apt-get install enna worked! Thank you.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Don't forget to run apt-get clean to remove the downloaded files after that (if you want to have rootfs space).

Yes, it's completely optified. Even the shared libraries it installs are optified.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

thanks for the confirmation, Rob1n...I still have trouble, even in xterm but I suspect it is because I disable extra-testing and extra-devel.

Would love to see some screen shot of this app....

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

So I just tried this app and:
1. needs to do a lot of optimizing
2. needs better maemo5 integration. I hate it when these apps take away the menu button.
3. when I played one of my metal albums, it showed me ABBA album art.. which I thought was kind of funny but it's still not very.. optimal.
This has potential though.

1. It is optified but as you said need some more. (It stutter little in the upstart)
2. Yeah, it would be nice. Can manage though. (sift+backspace)
3. LOL!
4. It's the best out there. It needs to get better in managing albums. It's little bulky to go and edit /etc/enna.cfg. It's will get better. ;)

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

I sure hope so. I like the way it looks interface wise. Right now it just stutters way to much to be useful. Also I forgot to note that it takes 40% CPU usage which isn't great (mediabox takes around 25%)

If those two issues would be resolved that would easily be my go-to player since my N900 is also my main music player.

Hey Guys,
I got this installed fine. Looks nice! Nothing in it though. No Photos, Videos, or Music

How do you get the Configuration Modules and the Weather Modules?

I tweked the enna.cfg file to add my media dirs, but nothing there to play still :(

Install leafpad

Install rootsh

in xterm type:
1) root
2) leafpad /etc/enna.conf

I believe that's the conf name.

This should give you the idea.

However, I got this working and the Music and Video is so choppy as to be unusable.

But true it looks good but not usable for my large music library :)
The longer I use it the Original media Player is not this bad at all :)

Hmm this looks good from the screenshots but I am getting the error liblua5.1-0 as a missing package. Is this is in extras-devel?

(not prepared to enable devel so will have to skip on this for now!)

Hi

Can someone help me with installing Enna. I tried it through
- apt-get install enna
- apt-get-f install enna

but i get an error saying:

"the following packages have unmet dependencies"
enna: Depends: libvalhalla but it is not going to be installed
E: broken packages.

I also tried through app manager, there i get the error libspeex1 missing.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this error.

You've run out of rootfs space to download the files. See http://wiki.maemo.org/Free_up_rootfs...side_of_rootfs for a workaround. You'll also want to run "apt-get clean" to clear up the part-downloaded files from rootfs.

Yes, according to http://maemo.org/packages/view/liblua5.1-0/ it's only in extras-devel.

libvalhalla should be in the same repository as enna, so I don't know why that's not being pulled in - are there any other error messages? libspeex1 is in the Nokia applications repository, so make sure you don't have that disabled - there may also be issues installing it if it's already been updated in the repository in preparation for PR1.2.

No, id doesn't report anything. It just deletes any downloaded .deb files from the apt cache directory. You only need to do this if you're using the command line to install apps - App Manager cleans up after itself automatically.

yep... for the missing packages just enable all the repos in the app manager... extras, extra-devel and extra testing, personally i just enabled all of them.
that should solve the missing problem ( keep in mind that the the repos must have been fully loaded instead of partially )
then go to xterm and type

sudo gainroot ( press enter )
apt-get autoremove ( press enter )( just to make sure everything is clean )
apt-get install enna ( press enter )

thats it.
incase u get a msg that says u dont have enough space in /var/cache/archives/... go to the post i asked how to do it :D and follow the thread. technically what ur going to do is tell it to install outside root limitations so cheers.

that should do it...

That seems to be where most people have issues. There's three places you can try changing the DNS - on the wireless router, in the advanced network configuration, or the /etc/resolv/conf file. I'd try them in that order and see whether any (or a combination) help.

Sorry, that should have been /etc/resolv.conf - you'll need to be root to edit it, so you'll need rootsh installed.

You can then do:
Code:

sudo gainroot
echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf
echo "nameserver 8.8.4.4" >> /etc/resolv.conf

Make sure there's one > in the first command, and two in the second. To change it back to the default, do:
Code:

sudo gainroot
echo "nameserver 127.0.0.1" > /etc/resolv.conf

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Hi,

I'm one of the author of Enna and the one who did the N900 port. I recently been introduced to this talk so I've decided to share a bit more with you and reply to your questions.

At first, Enna has been mainly developed and tested on HTPC so far. Embedded devices obviously are one of the targets but only recently got my N900 so the first release was pretty experimental. As a result, a few functions have been disabled by purpose and theme is not yet completely adapted to touchscreen (need bigger icons).

Anyhow, regarding the few asked questions:
- The app is indeed optified, same goes for all its dependencies.
- It's indeed slow at boot, this is because Enna scans your media paths for media infos and this does a lot of I/Os. Once the database has been created it is obviously faster.
- Regarding dependencies problems, it seems some other repos have different EFL libs versions and names (which can conflict)
- Display has been turned to 16bits only in rel -maemo3, it is now a bit faster.
- Weather and configuration menus have been disabled by purpose because not yet easily human configurable (except from config file)
- MicroSD: I wasn't aware of such a device. I've added support for it in rel -maemo2.
- Auto-rotate: planned when theme will be ready to handle rotated displays
- Cover art browser: not yet planned but interesting idea
- Ability to download data from imdb / themoviedb.org for movies / videos: that's already the case
- Ability to pull lyrics from tunewiki: already pulled (through other providers though), you can display them using "i" touch-key in audio player menu

More to come with next releases (maybe h/w DSP access for A/V playback too, need to check) but I'm all ears with remarks and suggestions.

BTW, I just released a 0.4.0-1maemo3 release which is a bit faster to display. So feel to upgrade.

You addressed a lot of questions, thanx!

However, you didn't address my issue. I have SiB, Media Player, and MediaBox and everything plays perfect, both Music and Video.

I try to open Music or Video in Enna and it is too choppy to listen to.

Any solutions for that or comment?

Thanks for the answers! You should implement an easier way of change witch folder it should look for. Right now editing the /etc/enna.cfg i the only way i know.

For me it's only stuttering in the beginning. After that it works perfect. I have all my media organized in different folders.. that might be the case why it's faster for me.

Maybe a first, because, depending on your media collection size, a lot of CPU power is waster grabbing media info and scanning your files. Once done, playback is smoother (but still not yet perfect as everything's done in s/w as for now).
