this works, but every time I open sygic mobile maps it askes me if I want to enable network positioning, which is just as bad as asking for an internet connection. !!

Thanks all! I found that starting up gpsjinni prior to Maps helps get a lock.

gpsjinni was doing as srydy said, but after a couple of recently updates it doesn't get a lock anymore.

well for me i get locked in 4-5 sec without internet connection and gps jinnie. I just turned off network posisioning. To check this with voice navigation i took some walk on the streets and it's working perfectly without internet connection. now only problem in ovi map is we can't search without internet and the other is we can't save our favourite location like starred location in google map. Any one know how to solve it ?

I don't think it's possible without data connection.
As i remembered you can plan a journey at home using internet.
As soon as you leave, you'll stay connected by satellites.
If you change your route, you'll see it but there will be no recalculation
just because there's no connection,
think it's the same for saving locations

I've installed Sygic MM10
Get a lock in a few seconds with the google server with or without internet.
It's just like a normal GPS, like TomTom, etc...
Yesterday tried it on foot in Brussels, no problem at all

well i calculate route at home without data connection and again recalculate to my home from the destination ie. point B again without data connection. I checked recalculate route several times without data connection. problem in this is only one that we can't search destination we have to point it manually.
