You're welcome! Hmm, I've not even thought of spare batteries yet, I guess I could just cannibalize my phone if needed

Re: Nokia N800 Case

This case fits as good as any case found. Small, stretches to fit initially, once the belt loops are taken off, it fits easily in pocket. To me, it is my short and now long term case as no other case looks promising, especially the official nokia case.

http://cgi.ebay.com/FOR-T-MOBILE-SID...QQcmdZViewItem

And thank to those members who emailed me about the case. This is not me selling on ebay, so deal w/ someone else, but either way, this case is worth the $10

I put the batteries in the pouch on the BACK of the Nokia N800 (a secret pouch inside the case but on the back of the Nokia N800) because even though it has the little padded thingy in the middle... I didn't wanna find out if it would hold up if pressured to much... I put my spare 4Gb 150X Transcend in one of the business card pouches (12Gb total)... the little holder for my spare stylus is great too... the best thing about this case is I CAN USE IT WHEN OPENED!! This is absolutely the best case (for me atleast) and I am not even going to buy the REAL Nokia N800 when it comes out.

PS: For a perfect fit... take off the 2 little peices (which are removable for slimmer PDA's) from the end of the arms which is holding the Nokia N800 in place... Here is where I bought mine...

Re: Nokia N800 Case

HHi, I was just wondering if anybody has tried the Otterbox for either the N770 or the N800.

I already have one of these without the clear screen cases, a 3000. The N770 fits fine, but of course I can not use it in the case, but good for traveling.

So please let me know if anybody has any experience with these boxes :-)

Ah, and the link is http://www.otterbox.com/ :-)

Re: Nokia N800 Case

I have two of these, one recently purchased for the N800 (Model 2000) and the other (a larger one) for the 770 and am very pleased. (I got the Model 2000 from another source, not labeled Otterbox, for consideraly less cost for the unit itself and for shipping.) Check out postings in this forum by my name and you will see my various comments on the subject over this past year on the 770, and more recently on the N800 in this thread above. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: Nokia N800 Case

OTTERBOX

Pros:

* You can throw your Nokia N800 off a cliff in a hurricane and it will be in perfect condition (almost).

Cons:

* Heaviest option.
* Bulkiest option.
* Ugliest option.

PROPORTA

Pros:

* Lightest option.
* Looks nice.

Cons:

* No side protection.
* No space to hold extra batteries or stylus (just SD cards).

CASE LOGIC PLT-2 STRONGMAN PDA CASE

Pros:

* Great padded protection (Normal drops won't do any damage).
* Perfect fit for Nokia N800 (as if it was built specifically for it).
* Stores 2 extra batteries in pouch BEHIND Nokia N800, extra stylus in stylus holder, extra SD card in business pouch, and some papers/business cards in remaining business pouches (everything inside case so no need to carry the extras in pockets).
* Do not have to remove the Nokia N800 from case in order to use it.
* Looks nice.

Cons:

* None.

I had a cheapy metal binder i dremelled a piece out of, folded and with a little adhesive padding and a microfiber cloth i macguyvered myself a slim case that offers some protection

Re: Nokia N800 Case

Nice case.

I used a cut out of a soft plastic CD/DVD case. Cut it so it fit right inside the original case that comes with it. Protects the screen when I place a microfiber cloth on top.

By the way, how is that theme working for you? I had a few problems with it. Which version are you using?

Thanks.

Heh, thanks. And as far as the LCARS theme i haven't really had any issues. Im using 1.0.1-16 and the sounds package if that helps.

Sounds good. But seller had quite lot negative feedback. Did someone order case from that place?

Is there other good cases that protect (also sides) N800?

99% positive is pretty good though. Might help to see what constituted some of those few negatives.

Re: Nokia N800 Case

He seems like a good seller, most people like myself get negative feedback from stupid people who are just fustrated with delayed delivery which affects the sellers rep, but he has sold in the thousands so I'm sure it's cool.

IMO I dont like those leather pouch kind of PDA cases. I got the black N800 skin cover so I can still fit it snuggly in my pocket without it buldging out.

I bought 4 things from this guy... never a problem... 99% success rate is fantastic!! I guarantee you will be satisfied with this case... it carries ALL the extras and it protects everything.

Well sure if you do not need the extra protection and extra storage for all the extras... then a skin cover is a better choice cuz it is lighter... but this case is NOT bulky at all cuz it is such a perfect fit.

Thanks, looks good. :)

Is has soft cover that wont scratch screen?

I try to get one, but it looks like that they wont sell those at Europe.

euchreprof 2007-04-03 18:46

Re: Nokia N800 Case

PS: Notice the little "arms" which hold the Nokia N800 in place... they really hold it firmly so it would never fall out of the case no matter which way you tilt it... but i wanted to say is... if you do but this case... the little arms have a little black removeable peice on the end of them... TAKE THEM OFF BEFORE you put your Nokia N800 inside to make it fit better... they are just included incase the PDA is extra thin (which the Nokia N800 is not because of the top where the camera is).

Yeah the screen cannot get scratched at all cuz of the soft middle divider... this IS a PDA case (but fits as if it was the offical Nokia N800 case)... it has 7 pockets inside the case to carry all the extras... the case is small... very firm... and padded nicely to protect the Nokia N800 if dropped. Oh and they do ship to Europe! (worldwide shipping available)

In the UK, dabs.com claims to see the "Case Logic Strongman PDA Case, Black Koskin, Universal Fit, PLT-2" for 10.43 inc. VAT. They don't have any in stock so your guess is as good as mine how long it would take to satisfy an order.

I got mine from the eBay seller (see link above) in 8 days. He has 25 in stock ready to be shipped.

www.pdair.com now has 2 different N800 cases available. They are US $28 each, with free shipping. I will probably order the "book" version.

Re: Nokia N800 Case

I recently bought the 770 ive had it almost a week now and decided to return it for the n800. now as im boxing it back up i see the n800 doesnt come with a friggin hard slide on case. that was such a great feature. its so frustrating cause it was such a simple disigne why didnt they just put one on the n800. well anyway thanks to this post ive see a few alternatives but if anyone knows of a hard case like the slide on one the 770 has that would be really useful.

Re: Nokia N800 Case

I've used otterboxes before for my iPod, and they'll take anything you throw a them... if you don't mind carrying a brick around. So the otterbox 2000 is a good fit for the n800?

And also, I assume that one cannot use the camera while in the Strongman case, or the Otterbox for that matter?

How do you charge the n800 while it is clamped down in the Strongman case? Or access the external memory card? Can the device be taken out easily enough?

Re: Nokia N800 Case

Another suggestion for cases... I discovered that the soft case/bag that came with my Bolle sunglasses was the perfect size for the N800. Though not a hard case it does close mostly and seems water resistant. Of course, now I don't have a case for my sunglasses...

I bought an Otterbox 2000 for travel and it worked great.

I partially close it when I am charging it (so the screen is protected) and if I want to change the battery or SD Card I just take it out of the case... very easy.
