Thanks frals! :)

I would assume that in France the rude mode should work better

I know absolutely nothing about how to configure the network and fMMS didn't have one set up automatically like other people have had it do. I am on At&t in the US. New York if that matters much. Thanks for any help, great work in developing this staple of an app!!

I think the MMS page on the wiki needs updating to the new fmms access point layout. I cant seem to figure it out for Tmobile USA

Same here, was working perfectly being with Vodafone but since I have switched to Optus, no go.
I have uninstalled fAPN since there is no need to create APN anymore but it doesn't work

I've gone and voted for that bug and https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9500

It's not very encouraging that 9476 is "RESOLVED WONTFIX" though :( It seems that Nokia never intended MMS to work on Maemo5... which makes it all the more impressive that you'd gone and done it anyway :D Thanks for your awesome work, BTW

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

With regards to fMMS working in with vodafone in australia, I still can only send to other vodafone mobiles. I can receive from any other network but my messages to optus or telstra mobiles just disappear... The "message sent" confirmation always comes up after sending. If I put my simcard in any other phone it works perfectly so I don't think its vodafones fault.

Any other aussies having this problem?

Someone said on the Finnish mobile phone forum that Nokia will never support MMS/WAP on the N900 because of licence and patent fees. Source: Nokia employee.

Keep up the good work! (I don't need MMS)

Upgrade to 1.0.2 and try setting "Your phonenumber" to 0 and see if this helps please :)

I've debugged this with another 3 Australia user and my suggestion is you give 3 a call and tell them MMS is not working on your phone and ask them to please enable it for you. Please let me know what they say and if it helps (google for 3 australia mms and there is a lot of similar problems on custom android roms from what I've gathered). :)

If you delete it, fMMS will stop working I'm afraid. If 'Havoc' mode works for you, the APN is hidden from the UI so you won't be bothered by it.

No official MMS support was ever promised ( see
http://wiki.maemo.org/What_can_we_realistically_expect ).

Past that, well, did you follow the information in the wiki? Who's your provider?

Well, Nokia said they would support frals in his project. And thus for a reliable, consistent user experience, they had no other choice than to give him the kind of support they always give.

SCNR. Really.

Please help....

I am curently sobbing into a bottle of wine... :)

My FMMS has worked fine for as long, and when i hit update today i was rightly nervous...

Ive got it all set up, and all seems to be ok...

Seems..... I can send MMS, but if someone sends me one back, there is no sigh of it.. Nothing, no push messages, or texts, no flicker off the fone..

Any ideas...

Im UK Vodafone..

When u put ure number in the settings how do you put it? ie 00447717...... or 07717..... etc etc

For the record, the help I've gotten from Nokia has been significant, from a complete UI/UX overhaul with their own interface designers to solving loads of different technical problems. :)

Please, and this goes for everyone, I understand you might be frustrated about Nokia not implementing this themselves and that my solution is by no means perfect. But saying "this doesnt work" contributes absolutely nothing. If you want any help, PLEASE, AT LEAST READ THE FIRST POST OF THIS TOPIC.

Thank you. :)

Kind regards,
Nick

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Can someone please take a quick sec to explain the new addition of 1.0.2

It now handles its own APN, so there is no need for Fapn, correct?

An when putting in ure number it goes like 004477 or 077 or +0044 etc etc, i think some of my problems may lie here

Rgds

Ps Nick/Frals - Uve been my hero for almost 3 happy (until today) months :)

It's been handling it's own APN since 0.9.x'ish, so you don't need to create the APN with fAPN anymore. However, if you upgraded from a version where you used the APN created with fAPN (basically, any version prior to 0.9.x) you should NOT delete the APN you created as this will make fMMS no longer function :)

The your phonenumber field depends on your carrier, as of 1.0.2 you can insert "0" in to that field and hopefully the MMSC can handle that properly.

As you are not receiving any SMS Push anymore I'd guess Vodafone might have disabled MMS on your account all of a sudden, you could give them a call and ask them about it.

Either way, please see the section called "Help Improve" in the first post in how to help me troubleshoot the problem in more detail. Thank you! :)

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Ok before anyone tries to bash me, let me start by saying I did read the fmms wiki, i folowed the directions exactly for a tmobile USA phone. i first installed fapn and created a tmo mms apn, then i confgured fmms to use this apn, it was like a gamble though, sometimes i would connect and receive the mms, but othertimes i kept getting error messages saying I am unable to connect. I also was never able to send an mms so i gave up and uninstalled both fapn and fmms. now that there was an update which says it should configure automatically i reinstalled it, but it defaults to the settings i had put in initially even though i uninstalled it. is there a way to clear the memory and do a clean install?....without having to reflash my n900?

Ok, i never had an seperate APN, i just adjusted my main internet one originally to include the proxy stuff etc.....

Then it all worked, when i got the update today, it just died i had to reset my Contract Wap connection to the original, and then i installed my settings into Fmms, as per its request...

Now i can send, but not recieve...

I have contacted vodafone UK, and they promise me they have touched nothing....

Yes, in an xterm type:
Code:

rm -r /home/user/.fmms
You may need to do a re-install after this (not sure that's needed though).

Oh, I didn't have any real doubt about that. My sarcastic comment just was a knee-jerk reaction after reading the comments in Bugzilla. It can't be that hard and resource-intensive to make APN/Connection selection behave in a deterministic fashion, and IMNSHO Nokia should have more of a genuine interest in helping fMMS along with that instead of pulling (yet another) WONTFIX on us.

That said, once again thank you for your excellent hard work and yes, a thank you to Nokia to at least have provided you with the support they have given you so far. As for the latter: just a little more will go a long way, Nokia. 'Nuff said.

Regards,
Chris.

I upgraded to the new version, still no good. Tried it wih my phone number in the configuration, with 0 and with nothing at all. Still only sends within my own network but receives from anywhere.

Last time I selected a pic from the gallery to send via mms through the sharing option the phone freaked out and crashed to!

Quick question. For USA T-mobile what should i be putting in these categories? So confused because i thought it was going to do it itself.

Access Point Name: ?
Username: ?
Password: ?
Proxy: ?
Proxy Port: ?
MMSC: ??

Also is there anything i should be putting in advance settings and do i still Need to download FAPN? or does FMMS take care of it by itself now? Big thanks on the project BTW!
