When you're shopping and you clicked the screen on the n800 to wake it up you'd accidentally tick an item. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
For me, the biggest feature I'd like to see is collapsible nested lists. I use a checklist app to pack for travel, and it's really handy to have categories such as "international" that I can collapse when they're not relevant.
It's also useful to have an option where checked items disappear from the list, so you only see the stuff you still need. Oh, and of course it would be nice to have multiple lists that you can switch between. That should be pretty easy, just open a different file (after saving the checked/unchecked status of the current one). |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
@gkuenning: You can probably do all that with shopper.
It has categories rather than expand/contract and before each trip you'd go through the list and pick things that needed packing. Then as you pack and tick off you'd see what's left. Also the "stuff for this trip" == "in the basket" ... and the full view unhides things you said you wanted so you can "double check" :) |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
@gkuenning, nested collapsable lists are a bit overkill for this app. The aim is to keep it simple. Multiple lists in some form are certainly in the plans.
@lbt, perhaps you should make an announce thread for shopper (eventhough it's not exactly new ;) since the existing thread is not "official" as such. would be nice to have some screenshots and whatnot. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
qlister is very nice and simple. Exactly the way I like.
The only feature what I'd like to have is, that the checked items sort automatically to the bottom of the list. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
So, how long will it take for this great application to become available at extras? :)

@lbt, thanks for the pointer. I had thought that Shopper was only available for the 810. It's just fine for my needs.

Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
Great app. Very simple indeed. Only a couple of suggestions. Making the ticked items sort out to maybe the bottom of the list will be nice especially if the list is quite long. secondly it would be ice if the program arranged the list alphabetically. That way it's easy to find things that we have already stored in our list. Good job men.

Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
That`s great programm, but it doesn`t understand russian, so I can`t use it normally :(

Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
qlister 0.2-3 is now in extras. Yay.
Anyway, 0.3 is in the works with a few new features. Nothing revolutionary though. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
it doesnt work?!
it loads a few seconds and then the window closes. |

If you don't feel like waiting you can fix it by doing, in xterm: root apt-get install python2.5-qt4-core python2.5-qt4-gui That should update the required pyqt modules to the latest version, and make things peachy. You need to have rootsh installed. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
qlister 0.2-6 is going to the builder. I'll promote it to testing if it works for me, since I need to get that dependency bug fixed.
Bugs fixed since 0.2-3 (which is in extras): - Now properly depends on pyqt 4.7.3 - list fills the screen in horisontal mode - Autorotates (can be turned off by clicking rotate) Hidden features: By modifying a file you can turn off/on autorotating and choose to use standard list style instead of the custom colored one that is the default. here's how: in xterm from home dir do, for example echo "1;0;" > .qlister/settings.csv EDIT: You need the trailing ; for the echo thing to work. The first number sets autorotating to on, and the second number sets colored list usage to off. There will be a menu for modifying settings in a future version. Please vote here: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...qlister/0.2-6/ |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
Cool app, but that also does not support Right-to-Left (hebrew) languages....
Please, can you add the unicode support.. Quote:

Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
There's a new version (0.2-7) in extras-devel that supports cyrillic text and possibly other languages. I don't have means to test it right now, so I'd appreciate if someone with right-to-left input would test and report if it works.
PS If you have a list with special characters, the new version will not be able to read it, and it will show up empty. if you write something in qlister and click save, the old list will be overwritten. If you need the stuff (and have not clicked save) you can open your old file with a text editor (leafpad for example), it's located in "~/.qlister/listfile.txt" and copy/paste the text from there to back to qlister. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
Confirmed, right to left languages supported in 0.2-7:
http://i46.tinypic.com/2nqxg2a.jpg Thanks for that MohammadAG I decided to promote 0.2-7 to extras since the language thing has been requested by many. You can vote for it to get to extras here: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...qlister/0.2-7/ |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
Yeaaaaa, it's works !!!! Thank you !
but it with a little problem :-) The text located on the left side of screen instead the right side (for right-to-left languages)... Can you fix this ? http://i48.tinypic.com/2lasbw9.png Thanks |

No, it's not too much trouble ! It's work perfectly and I voted for this app on your page :D
Thank you very much ! ;) |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
I like the simplicity of this app: a normal textarea is surpricingly efective way of editing your list in many cases (copy-pasting, arranging etc.)
There is still one button I would like to have: delete marked items. I dont always buy every item on the list. And some items are permanent (like the milk :)) Now you cant even see what is marked when going to edit text. PS. Font could be a bit darker. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
A great app! Tnx!
Why not implement the use of a (eg. #) comment sign in the text area? that way one could disable and reactivate entries in an easy way. |

Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
For those of you that have trouble launching Qlister version 0.2-3 (Currently in extras) Here is the workaround, step by step:
1. Launch Application manager 2. Install rootsh 3. Close Application manager 4. Launch x-term enter the following commands precisely: Code:
root After unpacking XX of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Press enter to proceed. 5. After the packages are updated you can close x-term. Qlister should now work. For those of you that are testing version 0.2-7, please vote here: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...qlister/0.2-7/ so we can get that much improved version to extras, thanks. |
Re: [maemo5] Qlister - Simple shopping list application
One stupid question. How do I vote there? I'm registered and I can write here but when I try to vote I'm asked to log in.

Hello mece, and hello all,
This is my first post, since I'm a very new n900 user ! @mece I wanted to contact you directly, but I'm not allowed to send private message. So I post here, and I'm sorry if I pollute the topic. I use qlister every day, but I need a tool that stores the item's state (checked, or not). And categorized items. And, maybe, set a priority level to the items... So, and because your code is clear and because I haven't Qt skills, I started to modify your app. The items are stored in a sqlite3 database (so sqlite3 lib is needed), the state is now stored. A "purge" button deletes checked items. For a quick workaround about categories, the command-line accepts the "-f file" option, which allow to specify another database file (for example, you can have a todo list, a shopping list, etc... and you have to specify in the command line which one you want to open). The database files are automatically created in the default path (~/.qlister) if no path is specified. As I have a stable version, I post the the tarball here, if you are interested. Don(t hesitate to send me your comments. Thanks for your job and best regards, nis |
