The "about" page in the app says 0.1.2b, but on checking in application manager, I do have 0.1.3.-1 running. Worth changing the text in the about page in next version to avoid confusion.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Metromap-fremantle

The useful supplemantary information (like station map, exits, etc) are missing in the 0.1.3 version when clicking "info" on a station on the Moscow map.

I can add that it worked perfectly with the old version (0.1.2), so I assume it's a bug in the .pmz format parser.

Could you pls send me your ~/.metromap contents? It can be done via bugtracker at https://garage.maemo.org/projects/metromap

Unfortunately I don't think so. I don't work on maps, just on mapping software. But you can contact pMetro author and map maintainer, Boris Muradov (Boris(ATATAT) pMetro.su, http://pmetro.su), maybe these maps will be useful for him.

This is a very promising application, I would suggest to everyone interested to work with upstream by providing updates to maps, translations, ....

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Metromap-fremantle

ndi,

yep, thanks ) 0.1.3 is still buggy and still in heavy development today. 0.1.3b is next step in improvements, but it's still an experiment, that's why it was not announced here. 0.1.3c will be released in 4-5 hours, so please be patient and return for a new version then :) it will be announced here and in your app manager.

I'm really sorry for unstable 0.1.3 release, but from other side, community helped me a lot in finding bugs with the new map format. I really appreciate it, guys! Thanks to everyone involved!

Hmm, that's strange. I have PR1.2 too and got everything ok, even when installing from scratch.

Could you pls open terminal, go to rood mode using sudo gainroot and try to install it with apt-get install metromap-fremantle? Debug output from apt-get could help there.

Anything below that string? All 'Operation not permitted' messages are ok, because it's some sort of dirty hack, but it works :)

I could have sworn I posted here.

Anyway, I downloaded a map from the said site and copied it to /opt as described in the thread. Nothing happens, it is not listed. Also, there are no other maps in that data folder.

So, how do i install my shiny map?

Haha, I looked at Washington's map (on the website). It doesn't look anything like the actual map but I do think all the stations are on there.

Copy it to /home/user/MyDocs/MetroMap (or N900/MetroMap in filemanager) - it is stated it top post and in package description

You can draw a new one, it will be highly appreciated by community :)

Is there any reason, besides copyright that prevents it from looking like the actual metromap?

I don't create any maps - just software to display it and calculate paths, so I can't answer to your question. You can contact pMetro author directly and ask him. Or ask people from http://www.subwaynavigator.com - this site is mentined on http://pmetro.su/Washington.htm as the source of picture.

Well, thanks but I've tread the top post and it's not there - description, changelog only. A poster in the thread suggested /opt/metromap/data, but that didn't (obviously) work. Didn't check the package description, sorry.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Works now.

+1. Takes forever to re-locate my maps in Russian, not to mention downloading, unpacking, sending, moving. Why the deletion?

juanenrique 2010-06-09 16:25

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Metromap-fremantle

i think it would be more user-friendly if metromap could take the maps from a dedicated folder MyDocs/metromap or something like that (in that way, if there are changes to the root folder of metromap, the extra maps are safe)?
