Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

I have irreco working fine with my LG tv.
But I can't make this widget work.
Is there a possibility to use the same config I have in irreco with this widget (maybe opening some config file and copy/paste irreco data)?

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

Hi,

I have the widget but it doesn't really work with creative sound blaster live 24 usb. There are on the list 4 remotes but only on one of them the mute button works. To say the truth i don't use the creative remote that much, since i use the speakers remote the whole time.
Is there a remote for the speakers from Teufel (Name of the producing company). My Speakers name is: Magnum E-Concept.

Here is the amazon link:
Teufel Concept E Magnum 5.1 Power Edition
http://www.amazon.de/Teufel-Concept-.../dp/B000XG14BU

It would be really great if you could add support for Teufel - Concept E Magnum 5.1 or help me out how i could make them work with Irreco. :)

Ps: I run an overclocked kernel on 800mhz (although 900mhz was stable and without problems)

Can anyone who is using this successfully, test if QTIrreco is working for them?

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

For me QTirreco works fine (on sometv's) the irreco widget doesn't work with the same devices. But i really dont have any ideas why.

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

New version of Irreco widget has now been released.

We removed lots of useless remotes from our database and added a new rating feature. Hopefully this will make it easier to find working remotes.

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

When I try to install I get an error 'Could not install'.. however it does seem to install.

When I restart the widget will then appear and seems to work fine, but if I try to update I get 'Could not update' as well.

Any ideas? I had pelota installed which seemed to cause the problem but I have since removed that.

Hi, I'm a really big fan of both the widget and the main application but I have one request:

could there be a way, even if it's an option, to add a "Source" button to the widget, so we can change the input on the tv from satellite to dvd or ps3.

That would be great! :)

I tried both updating and reinstalling and they seem to be working. Do you have free space on your rootfs?

Yeah I have plenty, it only started playing up after installing the pelota widget, since i removed that, i thought eveything would go back to normal but it hasn't unfortunately.

We would like to keep the widget as simple as possible so we are not planning on adding more buttons. However you can send any commands by changing the cmd options from the advanced settings menu. Available codes for the selected remote are in ~/.config/irwi/lirc.conf.

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

I seem to have found the cause of the error, when I try to install your widget I get the following error:

Code:

error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/qt4-homescreen-loader_4.6.2~git20100421-0maemo1-armel.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/hildon-desktop/loaders/libqtpluginloader.so' which is also in package qt4-maemo5-homescreen-loader

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I've removed 'qt4-homescreen-loader' and it has now installed, not sure if I needed that though (it has also removed qt4-maemo-homescreen-loader, again not sure if i need that)

irwi works nicely with Sony Bravia KLD-40X3500.

Downloaded Sony RM-ED006 configuration - even if the original remote is RM-ED010. Thanks guys.

Is there a request forum topic for remote controls?

I have the 42SL9000 from LG with the MKJ61541804 remote control.
Unfortunately this remote doesn't exist in the databank. Can i ask for support somewhere?

This thread works fine for requests :)

We are working on an upload feature that would allow users to upload remotes to the database. To create your own remotes you'd need a computer with IR receiver and Linux installed.

As for the request, we can't really help, as we would need the original remote to record IR codes from to create correct configuration file.

I am after a remote for a Vistron Sense LCD tv, we dont' have a remote at all, so its a pain, any ideas where I could find one? I did find some Vistron tele's on lirc but didn't know how to load them up.

Also, I was attempting to change the power button to a source button, went in to the irwi.conf and change a line from: KEY4=POWER to KEY4=source, this did nothing though and the button still acted as power. Did I miss something ?

Irreco widget depends on qt4-homescreen-loader.

I'm not sure why there are two similar conflicting loaders since both are maintained by the same person.
http://maemo.org/packages/view/qt4-homescreen-loader/
http://maemo.org/packages/view/qt4-m...screen-loader/

Removing the maemo5-loader and reinstalling the widget should fix the problem.

As zokier mentioned we are working on an upload feature. When it's ready you can use it to upload lirc confs to our database.

Thanks for finding a bug :). I just noticed that my code is not working correctly in this situation. Zokier will make a new release soon.

But you don't need to edit the irwi.conf. All available IR codes for selected remote are there and you only need to change the commands from the advanced settings menu in the widget.

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

the widget looks nice but the remote doesnt work, tried a dozen different remotes and nothing worked. I used to use the app version before but then that ended up messing my device and had to reflash it but even then when it worked the range was too short and was therefore a hit n miss at times. Not sure if the range issue lies within the hardware or software.
But this widget definetly did not work not even 1 button and I have a samsung lcd.

Could use support for panasonic EUR511241.

Everything except power works with the currently available EUR remote but this tv cannot be turned on without the remote.

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

Hi!
I don't know much about this irreco widget but installed it last week to see, and I was pleased and surprised that I could find my "metronic" sat in the DB and even more surprised that it worked very well.
But I did an update this morning, and since then, nothing! When I try to select the remote, I choose the "m" for "metronic", but it gives me only one choice: "microsoft" lol! Any way, the new update seems to have a much smaller DB, I can remember seing a lot of stuff for each letter I could choose, but now seems to last only few... So, is it possible to have the URL of the previous Database, or a key to find out my previous settings?
thanks

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

This is to anyone who has had qtirreco working before upgrading firmware.

If you found that once updating to the latest nokia firmware qtirreco stopped working I appear to have found a solution.

1. Uninstall QTIRRECO from within the application manager.
2. Goto file manager (within the n900) and delete the QTIRRECO folder (that is in the mass memory).
3. Go and reinstall QTIRRECO from within the application manager.
4. Download the chosen remote/s you wish to use.

Thats it. They should now work again. Mine did anyway.
If you have experianced problems getting your remote to ever work this probably wont work but if they stopped working after a firmware upgrade then you may be in luck.

Also anyone trying to find a remote for thier sky+ or sky+ HD remote i also read that the sky+_DVB-5 works for these remotes.

I dont take credit for figuring this out as i didnt i read it off another user but now im trying to find the post to show it you i cant find it. hope this helps.

/var/lib/dpkg/info/irwi.postinst: line 5: cannot create /home/user/.config/irwi/irwi.conf: nonexistent directory

For those who might like to use apt, the package is bizarrely named "irwi", but as shown above, seems to be broken atm.

I'm excited about this. I only need two buttons and need them regularly. Hopefully Vizio TVs are supported.

TV shutdown application

I've been thinkin of buying a gadget called TV B gone. Here's the link on their site:

http://www.tvbgone.com/cfe_tvbg_main.php

But then i was thinking that you can have a universal remote kind of an application on yous n900. So is there any application that comes with only shut down or starting options for tv's (or other IR controlled devices)?

If there is none then this could be a fun project. I would do it myself but i don't know how to do any programming..

So what do you people think about this? It would be great for simple pranks :D

Thread with one post merged here.

A little follow-up. I have a Vizio 42" HDTV that's about two years old that serves as my monitor. The Vizio profile in Irwi (VX37L) works fine with it. :)

I would indeed like to change what the buttons on the widget do. It seems that there's no lirc.conf file in ~/.config/irwi, just an irwi.conf file.which specifies the remote name and remote manufacturer. Do i need to have QtIrreco installed to have the lirc.conf file?

QtIrreco won't affect this. lirc.conf is written to ~/.config/irwi/ every time you change a remote.

It's not, though. I tried changing to a different remote and there's still no lirc.conf file in .config/irwi. There's just an irwi.conf file there.

It works great, i just want to change what the buttons do, and the described method isn't possible...

likkuli: it will just be there on your desktop.. You could try rebooting...

I've now rebooted twice, last time also removed battery but still can't see the widget on my desktop. Hmm. Should it appear on all of the Irreco downloadable apps? I downloaded Irreco for N900 and also the lirc app.

I don't have irreco installed, but AFAIR the irwi showed up by itself after some time (or reboot?). It's also available in the widgets list to add to the desktop (accidentally deleted it and had to add it again).

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

Okay, here are the bugs i discovered after watching your video and messing around with settings:
  • The lirc.conf file doesn't appear until i choose "Defaults" in "Advanced Settings". Before i do that, there are only two entries in the "Advanced Settings" list (remoteMfg and remoteName), but i can use the downloaded remotes fine.
  • After restoring defaults, lirc.conf exists and all the other entries are in "Advanced Settings", but now the remote doesn't work, even if i load either of two remotes that were working before.

Also, from a UI perspective, It's a bit confusing to exit the widget settings by tapping outside the window. This is normally a "Cancel", so it's not clear that it's going to keep whatever changes are made. A "Done" button would be more clear.

Edit: Even removing irwi widget from the desktop, deleting the contents of .config/irwi, re-adding irwi widget, downloading the remote doesn't fix the remote. Irwi has been completely broken since i "restored defaults".

If it's helpful for diagnosis, i'm using either the LCD or VX33L remotes for Vizio. They both worked before i tried "Defaults".

Re: [Announce] Irreco Widget

Hey guys, awesome widget. Unfortunately, i cant really use it since all of the remotes i need dont work.

Since this thread is a 'request a remote' thread, i guess i shall contribute

1. LG model:42LG30-UD AUSOLJR (42" LCD TV, United States)
2. Scientific Atlanta model:EXPLORER 4250HDC (Cable Box, Brighthouse Networks cable company, United States)
3. Magnavox model: MWK20V6 (DVD/VCR Combo, United States)

Also, i see there's an XBOX360 remote (havent had a chance to test), is there also a PS3 remote (if PS3 is even capable)? or a Wii (if capable)?

Sorry for the torrent of dumb questions, but its best to let everyone know how much you dont know, than to have them assume how much you dont know. And i obviously dont know much...yay education

EDIT: One more thing, can the LIRC (or whatever database irreco uses) be configured like a standard universal remote? Can it "learn" commands from an existing remote, like other universal remotes do, and just save the remote as 'CUSTOM'?

This would be useful if you want to program the volume buttons to control the tv and the channel buttons to control the cable box. See what i mean?

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my crazy side of the story.
