Wow... That was unexpected. I browsed the code and saw that it was failed when trying to access "/usr/share/osso-rtcom/facebook.profile" - which didn't exist. Instead, there was /usr/share/osso-rtcom/facebook-chat.profile - I symlinked it to /usr/share/osso-rtcom/facebook.profile and it worked...

yeah, looks like there might be something mischeivous with you accounts configuration file, not the one you symlinked the users accounts config, as that has an entry which should point to facebook-chat.profile

I think you need to check your .rtcom-accounts/accounts.cfg the faebook section should have: Profile=facebook-chat

Yeah, I know there are some issues when updating status whilst using it, which you shouldn't do btw. i'll install pecan this weekend and try it as I use haze at the moment.

IT don't work with my builtin facebook im client...works with gtalk, skype, but not facebook :( how can i fix it? I did read 2 post above me, but i don't understand it. Somebody care to put that in normal english for me please :)

i think it will do, if others are using the jabber IM facility for facebook chat. It wont however change anything as far as web facebook users are concerned.

just stuck version 0.4 in extras-testing, please test and vote. I'm considering it to be the final release of this software. It now supports different "media profiles" internet radio, and movies. Let me know what you think :)

Actually, I forgot to mention. It's not the final release, I'll be jumping it up to 1.0 soon and port the UI to C++ as I personally find the Python+PySide load times to be prett unacceptable 90% of the time. But the actual configuration tool and the service will not change functionally or consmetically. Unless anyone has any requests? :)

hi there mate, i downloaded your im status update, but for the life of me i cant get it to work, im using msn and its not working, i think iv downloaded the msn protocol plugin thing, and i have enabled the settings in the settings menu to my account, but it does not work, i even tried to delete the entire "%a" etc and retype it in, but to no avail what am i doing wrong? do i need to have msn open then enable ? do i play the music after msn is open ? seriously confused

It works with any IM account that works using the Conversations app. My program doesn't change the display name, it changes you status message. If you want to change your display name you need to configure your account using the accounts settings.

Someone else also requested that, I may well look into adding that feature, though I don't personally use Twitter. So testing it would be interesting :P

For those who have had the same problem, there is a ini file, can't remember where exactly, I found it after I uninstalled it using MC, after I deleted this ini file and reinstalled the program, the problem was gone.

I think you could have looked into it with a little more effort Tom, I had asked you more than one time how to eliminate any trace of it.

Is there any way to get this to work with facebook? I don't mean changin a status every song and annoying our friends though. Somethng like an on the fly status??? No one using facebook on the PC can see anything I'm playing, and thats where I IM them most. This does work perfectly with my other accounts, great app!

Thanks for the app. The only issue i have is that forces the device to go online once i start using the media-player (device not connected to network). The program should check whether the device is connected via wifi/gprs and if not it shouldnt do anything.

As a dirty hack, i modified the code to show Album name as well. I added to

/opt/rx/media-im-status-updater/media_im_status_updater.py at line 126

Code:

      for key in ['album']:

        value = None      



        try:                                                              

          value = self.__metadata[key]

        except KeyError:  

          value = u'<unknown>'



        message = message.replace('%d', value)

Now the album name can be shown by using %d.

whenever I play pyRadio, the media status updater displays "unknown" by "unknown". Is there anyway to totally ignore this or anyway to add support to pyRadio? it would be greatttttt
