Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
hi just installed, and subsequent update gave me the port addon. Looks very promising. Here's what I have found:
1. no unicode support 2. I have same problem as above regarding no back (..) option in remote server 3. username field always caps the first letter 4. unable to edit a created bookmark. Only option is to delete and redo 5. would be nice with option to sort folders on top 6. local side . folders does not show fx. .sounds, .documents, etc. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
well just find out for the cap on the login and the edit book mark
plus if you creat a new bookmark with the same IP it looks like it's not created |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
When I save a bbookmark, the portnumber wont save
|
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
yup so it's confirmed :D

Maybe I insert a ".." by default, and filter out the one sent from the server (if sent) Quote:

Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Hey buddy can you UPnP host by the N900 as a build in for N900 FTP? This would make it a killer app for N900 and a must use :)
UPnP is usefull when sharing media files to PS3 or PC |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
pfuh ... we are talkin' about ftp with another level regardin UPNP stuff ...
hard to code i guess ... |

Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Cheers jojop2!
Nice and useful program. Thanks for this. The new version works like a charm for me including bookmarks and Unicode. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Thank you for the quick fix, but now I have another problem.
I need to be able to switch between active and passive mode, depending on where I connect to my FTP server from. Is there any chance such a function could be implemented? Thanks. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
really nice update thanks !
still not working for ssh sftp :( a must have I think for a linux distributoin ftp client :o |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Starts to looking good. But I suggest the you should be able to chose between advance folder view and basic. Where advance shows all the .folders and basic shows you MyDocs with the folders as shown in Maemo "File Manager".
I think people th5 like to use Ftp but not familiar with .folders find it much more easy to navigate. Also the most common folders I use are .sound, tmp, .documents and .downloads so all the other .folders is just in the way for easy and usable navigating in local files. Also a meny with your favorites thet connects you right away with one click would be nice. A connecting and downloading progressbar would be nice. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Another thing I thougth about.
Instead of being able to scroll sideways, I suggest that if you mark a folder or a file that are wider then the column should start scroll the name to the left and by that show you the full name. most of the time you know your folders and files even thou you cant see the whole name. But as it is now I find it a little clumsy to scroll. I hope my sugesstions can help you bring the maemo users around the world an nice looking ftp client. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
Really nice update
1: Still auto Cap. first letter in username (am I the only one?). 2: unicode not working for me (danish characters oslash, ae and aring) |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
for auto cap disable it in the "text input" section in "parameters"
and when typing the 1st character use CAP button also :D |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client

As stated previously, I have Auto-capitalisation disabled at system level (text-input). Don't follow your second suggestion. Am I really the only one where the first letter is in caps when writing in the username and server fields when creating a location? I'm not saying it's a major issue, just curious. |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
It's not cap for password but it still is for server name and username
so if you already disabled the parameters option ONLY for login and server name : use the maj button when typing the first letter it will print it not in MAJ ( ie KEEP the maj button while typing your letter ) working here for me :D if it is still not working try upgrade maybe you missed the last upgrade ? I think Jojop2 made the change only for the password field |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client

I didn't change the behaviour of the password field. It seems to be the normal treatment for password enabled fields, that there is no capitalization. But somehow there seems to be a possibility to have influence on the behaviour of normal textfieds, because the normal input fields of the build in browser are working without capitalization. Can someone with more programing knowledge shed some light on this? FYI: I'm working with QT Designer, if' thats important. |

I like the idea of switching between an advanced and an basic view. For the topic regarding the direct connection from Bookmarklist I would appreciate some more opinions. My intention was to see the server URL before connecting in order to verify that it is the right server, because once you are connected you don't have an inidication to which server the connection has been made. What do you mean by connecting progressbar? Do you mean a forth and back running progressbar during the time where the aplication trys to connect until connection is established? Regarding the downloading/uploading progressbar: My plan was to implement this feature. That's why I use the QFtp module for File Transfers. If the SSH feature is requested I have to switch to ftplib module, which doesn't seem to give me the file size of remote files. So a progressbar is not possible anymore with SSH I think. What do you think? |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
personnaly, i would rather prefer a ssh connection thant a graphical transfer progress bar :D
thanks again for your job it's getting every time nicer and nicer ^^ |

Maybe something like this, when you start the application you got an empty column to the right, instead of it being empty you could list the bookmarks as buttoms with the bookmarkname you have added before. And when you click on one of the buttoms it brings up a overlay window that slides from below that says connecting to <server adress> and some circaling animation that give the the feedback that the application are connecting, and when you are connected the overlaywindows slides back down and the folders are present in the right window. About the downloading progressbar, I thought you must be having that in mind :). |
Re: [Announce] - FTP Client
For some weard reason I'm not able to download or upload files from/to my server... I'm only able to browse directories with this app... (I'm using filezilla as server)

here, made you a useless account with a text file you can try downloading: ftp://maemo:test@creamy.no-ip.com:8888/ you can try implicit ssl on port 7777 explicit ssl (auth ssl/tls) on port 21 router has that box set to DMZ so it should just work. |
