There is, evilalarm --wakeup starts the alarm directly.
This combination with sleepanalyser sounds rather neat, might try it myself.

now if only you could add a way to prevent switching off the phone :P
dunno if that's possible, though

these days i just find myself turning off the phone when my alarm goes off as a last resort :(

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

I've also been doing that :(
You can remove the "Turn off" item from power button menu and disable long press by editing /etc/mce/mce.ini (if you know what you're doing), but it's an imperfect solution.

Hi all

SleepAnalyser 2.1 now supports an external alarm command.
Happy wake ups ;)

P.S.
My Off-Button menu has an entry "stop current application".
That seems to be the dirtiest cheat to stop evilalarm.
To stop that, you would need a daemon which restarts it again immediately...

doesn't do a thing for me.. i mean, it seems to KILL something for sure but evilalarm stays put

ps, cpulvermacher, i know about removing the context menu item and disabling long press, but 1. as you said, it's an imperfect solution and 2. i'd land up pulling out my battery next! haha

a random idea but it's something like Resetti in Animal Crossing, some "punishment" to force-killing EvilAlarm when you boot the phone next...

That was quick :)

(When using evilalarm normally it launches a daemon that does just that. With --wakeup, you may want to use evilalarm's "disable multitasking" option, that will hide the "stop current task" entry. (Actually, it may still be there but it'll kill backgrounded apps...))

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

That's really great news, caco3! :)

@cpulvermacher: could you provide some information on how to best set up evilalarm when triggerd by command line?
First of all I'd like to be sure that all settings I once saved via GUI are applied to evilalarm next time when run from commandline, right? Or are there any settings that just apply to current session and don't get saved as default?
Are there any more cmdline switches?

All settings are saved when you leave the settings dialog, nothing you need to pay special attention to :)

No particularly useful ones. You can use --daemon to start a process that will start the alarm at the configured time. (note that evilalarm will only save the alarm time when activating it)

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

Wonderful! Now I'll try that combination of SleepAnalyser and Evilalarm. In a perfect world I would get woken up when in light sleep with an alarm that definitely doesn't let me sleep any further :)

Please let me know how we start evilalarm the best from SleepAnalyser

I'm not entirely satisfied it's stable enough, so not yet.

There is a way to have a radio station as a alarm clock sound?

Only sound files and vibration, I'm afraid.

A small preview of the Blubbels module :)

(I wonder if a default score threshold of 500 would be too high... )

awesome! needed this! evilalarm doesnt seem to work for me any more

cpulvermacher 2011-02-18 12:27

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

Uploaded 0.5 yesterday, you can configure modules at the bottom of the settings dialog. You can also change the accelerometer threshold if the movement-module is too sensitive.

cpulvermacher 2011-02-19 15:38

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

0.6 should hit extras-devel shortly, and fixes a bug that would prevent the alarm from pausing if you managed to move the phone / click at just the wrong moment. (really annoying)

I'm currently adding a list of previous alarms, which should simplify things a bit. Not sure if I want to add repeated alarm right now, but I might add them later on.

Maybe not neccessary at all when using alarmed or another triggering software (like sleepanalyser) for calling evilalarm on command line. Especially alarmed (or f-cron) could jump right in and offer the ability to run evilalarm in a cron-like way.

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

Snooze didn't work with Blubbels... (yeah I shouldn't be snoozing anyway but I like just one snooze of 5 minutes :P) Using version 0.6. I only tried once, but I'll report if it doesn't work today either.
Great work by the way. Are you going to add more modules? Possibly expandable by others (like an extensions system)? That would be amazing.

cpulvermacher 2011-03-01 19:24

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

@Char:
You're right, sound doesn't turn off when snoozing, will look into that.

I do have some module ideas floating around (for example stopping based on an external command -- ping, maybe? :)), but I'll need to clean up the interface a bit before adding new ones. (or before anyone else will be willing to write their own)

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

How can I save new settings in latest version?

When I change alarm song and go back the test goes well. But when I close the program and open again...the settings are not like I changed them...

cpulvermacher 2011-03-02 16:30

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

@mihapodb:
Settings should be saved when leaving the settings dialog.

So if you return to the main screen and test the alarm, settings appear to be saved; but if you instead close the program, they're gone?
What happens if you use "test alarm" and then restart the program?

mihapodb 2011-03-02 16:33

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

I set new settings, go back to main menu, click "test alarm" and there goes alarm with new settings.
But when I close the program settings revert back :/

cpulvermacher 2011-03-02 17:50

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

I've managed to get similar behaviour by quickly tapping the "settings" button multiple times, resulting in more than one settings dialog. Changing things in one dialog and closing it would apply them, quitting the program would then save the old settings still in other dialogs... :(

Could this be behind it? Are there any other windows open after clicking settings? (maybe in background?)

mihapodb 2011-03-02 17:57

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

Not in my case :/

Yes it is the same.

Where are all configuration files of the evil alarm? So I can edit them manually...

They're in /home/user/.config/EvilAlarm/EvilAlarm.conf
I can only guess that maybe your file permissions are wrong? :(

mihapodb 2011-03-02 20:42

That could be very possiable, becouse I have the same problem with fmms...
And I do not know how to fix it :/

Where can I change permission?

Not an easy question without knowing what exactly is broken. :)
The easiest way would probably be to allow all access to the .config directory (and everything in it). To do that, open a console window and type
Code:

chmod -R 775 .config
If you get no error message, it worked.

mihapodb 2011-03-02 21:20

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

First I got error that operation is not permitted.
Than I became root and I did not get any errors but still it does not work :(

Please post your configuration file so I can edit it manually...

are you intersted in adding some option in the next release to repeat alarm like "daily" or "weekly" or "monthly" or selected days of week etc.?

Re: [Announce] EvilAlarm

Another suggestion
After "x" minutes the phone sounds a single beep (or any other short sound), and a question pops up.
"Are you awake?"
If you don't say yes within "y" seconds, the alarm restarts itself.
I find myself falling asleep again after being woken up now! :(

Also a math module as another suggestion?

can you please add one option to repeat alarm(even every basic alarm has this type of options) so why don't this powerfull evil alarm does not have this!
