You could try that.

That sounds good :)

Don, or someone else, it might help El Amir by opening up the main PyQt file and check where the path for the image file and the sound file lead to. Check that these files are actually there. If they are missing from the application, it may be that the filenames are simply incorrect or that these files are missing/installed to the wrong path on the handset.

You are spot on, there is (was!) an error with the file names. hopefully 0.2-7 fixes that.

Let me know!

Just to give you some inspiration, I know its the iphone one (sorry but it does look quite nice).

http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/...320x480-75.jpg

Whatever team's colours you click on, thats the colour the vuvu goes, could make better kits, or just use flags though.

Edit: forgot to put in, in order to make the vuvuzela sound, you just tap on the horn, if you hold the horn the sound stays on, soon as you take your hand off, it goes off.

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

it works now thx....

but as reported before... you need to make the background black... and maybe the option the change the vuvuzela color...

thx again...

maybe you can make an option for holding down the button... so when you let go of the button the sound stops... so you have more control and then you can make melodies...

vu vu vuvuvu vu vu le za something like that :)

The rainbow idea was to represent all the team. I'm open to suggestions or mockups!

Also, if it's not looping, it means you don't have the latest version! Try refreshing!

Just remove the rainbow and give the vuvuzela a White color?

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

Just to let you all know, version 0.3-1 is now in the repo's. Update to get the latest goodness!

Changes:

- Decided to join both the "Start" & "Stop" button into one. Looks better, easier to use and saves on screen estate

- Due to popular demand, you can now change the colour of the Vuvuzela. Ther are 6 colours matching the 6 background colours.
Let me know if you want more or different ones

To Do

-Get bigger Vuvuzelas images
-Look into Portrait mode

That's it for now, requests, suggestions & feedback are more than welcome :)

But this way it will not possible to hear the sound multiple times simultaneously, before i was just pressing on Start 5 or 6 times and it was making a lot of noise, please return it back.
I think you can make stop a small icon near Start.

I agree with that........ or make another button (like a "+" button) to start another vuvuzela sound

Taken into consideration! The next update, 0.3-5 will include some way of bringing that functionality back and updated (read bigger) images from pantera1989.
He definitely deserves a round of applause!

Stay tuned!

you should integrate the use of the accelerometer into this app so when you move the device about it fluctuates the sound of the horn hehe similar to the iphone style.

Not a big fan of accelerometers to be honest but you check out some other Vuvuzela apps than use them.

But if I do find a way to set up options, I might take a shot at it.

El Amir 2010-06-30 16:06

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

Just uploaded version 0.5-1. You should be able to get it now.

Changes:

- Due to popular demand, I decided to reintegrate both the "Start" & "Stop" button, but in smaller forms in order to get that multi-Vuvuzela sound.
--> Either use the "Start/Stop" button or the other 2, using both at the same time will only cause chaos!

- Thanks to pantera1989, we now have bigger Vuvuzela images. Still Same 6 colours.

To Do:

-Add version number to title bar untill I sort out an "about" page
-Find a way to set up a "settings" dialog
-Look into Portrait mode

As usual, requests, suggestions & feedback are more than welcome

This will be fun on Friday...

There is a missing dependency issue in the package. The application requires python2.5-qt4-core and python2.5-qt4-gui but these aren't marked as dependencies. Prevented the application from launching for me the first time I tried it.

I thought these were a given with PR1.2 ?
If not, do I just add these to the py2deb dependencies before building?

Anyway, i'll pop 0.3-6 in a bit and see if it sorts out these problems.

Let me know!

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

The new version 0.3-6 is now out!

Changes:

- This *should* fix any dependencies issues some people might have.

- FINALLY found a way to get an icon for the application in the App Manager. Makes it looks better/more professional, especially when I try to get this app into Extras.

- Added the version number to the Titlebar. Hopefully this makes it ALOT easier to know what version you are on. I still need to find a way to make a menubar....

To Do

-Find a way to set up a "settings" dialog
-Look into Portrait mode
-Look into a full-screen option

As usual, requests, suggestions & feedback are more than welcome :)

...but I guess you got it figured out since the dependencies seem to be OK in this new version.

Anyway, it was fun to play some vuvuzela during the games yesterday - at least for a while - until people got annoyed :D

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

Have an option to select black background once another color is picked please! Also when a different color is picked, the icons have this nasty black edge problem where the curves are in the border edges... dunno if this is a maemo/hildon thing or a bug in the program.

pantera1989 2010-07-12 09:23

Re: [Annouce] (Now in Extras-devel) Vuvuzela - for all you WorldCup/sporting needs!

El Amir thanks for this wonderful app. Now the World Cup is over and I guess I won't be using it anymore lol.

Still it was fun playing the Vuvuzela during matches. It annoyed a lot of people, but my N900 wouldn't listen and kept playing.

Anyway thank you. I will still keep it installed..and maybe still use it while waiting in a bank or something.
