See above for tips on how to make an actual image, and http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900 for more details/help - but a warning that it *is not really all that usable* and that it *will require some work/hacking on your part* :P

If you like using your N900 for phone/wifi - or just about anything - don't bother with this yet.

I am not sure I'll do a video.. but I am going to dinner, and then I will make a new post (assuming no one else gets it to work between now and then) - with a full step-by-step on getting it to work in Ubuntu 10.04 (should work for Fedora 12 too using mostly the wiki).

I'll take some normal camera pictures of it running since I can't find any way to take a 'screenshot' considering it has no network and no terminal and ... nothing.

So.. at the least I'll have that up a little later, and then one of the more prominent high-profile people can make video's and wind up on engadget...

I think as this is very very early stages it is not advisable for anyone other than developers to install this to their n900 as it is no way a workable OS.

A BIG thankyou to Woot and Fatalsaint for there efforts and shows real community spirit. Thankyou guys.

I had a problem with Virtualbox, so it took a while but I finally made it. Will post some pictures in a minute and then sleep (it's 6 am here :D ).

Ok, I also got it working now. I will try to post pictures soon. The UI mostly works although X has already crashed and restarted due to fennec just as someone else experienced.

Damn it! I who wanted to feel this UI out alittle. :p As of now, its impossible to build a flashable image, only raw. Or atleast for me. And that sucks when you dont own a SD-card.

Anyway, max_leb_cnt (which I dont even know what means.) is what it complains about when you trying format=ubi, for those whos wondering.

I was thinking of making a video but it is a bit unresponsive and it wouldn't show anything more than the official video. By the way, WiFi works altough I still couldn't open Fennec.

How did you get wifi working? Mine just says "Wifi is not available on this device."

On your external SD card, yes. On your internal data and Maemo stuff.. no.

It installs the MeeGo rootfs to your external SD card and the flash command only flashes the kernel that boots it one time. Once you reboot it boots back into maemo as if nothing changed.

In the wiki is what to change to make that flash permanent.. though I can't imagine why anyone would at this stage.

The first time I booted Meego the brightness was fine and the front LED stayed lit. Now when I boot Meego the screen is dark and the LED is not lit. I will have to try the echo'ing 255 trick.

I got exactly the same symptoms as you fatalsaint and w00t i cannot get wifi working at all.
Ok this needs much more work to even be feasable to flash as the main OS so thank god i never did that lol.

Great work you guys we just have to wait but i do have a question here..... what will happen to all the apps n stuff from Meamo when we do go over to Meego... will they all need porting or what will happen?.

Well was anybody able to see the moorstone Release too? i cant understand if i look at the greate looking UI from the Handset Day 1 Video why the N900 stuff looks so different. I thought it would be the same UI of course without all the hardware driver needing features. But this looks really different. I tought there is One Version of Meego wich comes from Meego.com..

The Moorstone Handset comes from Intel and the ARM Based is the N900 so for me it looks like the ARM Based Development is just a small Part and the Moorstone Intel Release isnt a good sign..

It's four months till end of October. Short period of time in OS development, so I really have doubts about Nokia lauching Meego handset this year.

beta is when its not an official non buggy version yet, its a buggy version which is sent out to the public so that THEY can find out the bugs and return to the supplier with the feedback.
