I wanted to give this a try, but when I visited the Ovi Store on my N900 (running PR1.2) it told me I have to update the device and to head to the Application Manager.

Kinda irked, since I knew there are no updated, I went anyway and of course, found no updates.

I am unable to browse the Ovi Store at all on my device. Just the landing page, have tried a few different links to get there too. :(

lags at times, even with my overclocked (1ghz) n900. i hope they fix this problem on the official release.

i've been buying all of the sold apps in Ovi since they appeared there, so i will surely buy this too.

Are you using the user agent hider? If so, you'll need to reset the user agent to the default. If not, you can try deleting the /home/user/.mozilla/microb directory, then rebooting. That should reset the browser to the defaults.

That will also reset the browser entirely, so all bookmarks etc. Will be lost.

Turn it to default value :p Mine works ok. without overclocking. Try to disable wi-fi while you are playing!

Changing CPU frequency didn't have any affect at all. Maybe it's because of kustom kernel, don't know and I'm too lazy to try it out :-P

Tried that.. runs pretty much the same, albeit a tad slower.

Btw, the full game is now for sale in OVI store.

Just saw that too, gonna buy it any minute now :D

EDIT: Bought, now downloading..

OVI Store should really have some download indicator for the file, or at least a notice that the file is downloading.

I had it installed, but had not set a custom agent. Went in to double check and it was default "Maemo Browser" saying I had no custom agent - Spun my wheels for another hour or two before resetting it anyway, and then suddenly all was well.

Not sure why that happened, but it was something along that line. Oddest and most stupid thing.

Buy it! It worth all the money! Great game!

An entertaining game indeed, but the FPS is really dragging my rating down. It is not smooth at all.

This is really strange, the game is very smooth on my N900, some people seem to be having problems and not others.

Laughing Man 2010-07-07 17:33

Re: Ovi Store- Tower bloxx 3d Delux demo

I've had both. But usually it runs extremely smoothly. I think the times it did lag I had a couple processes (non-system) running.

well what about crappy resolution? its like watching HD movie on 480 screen :(

Re: Ovi Store- Tower bloxx 3d Delux demo

It's just perfect! And belive me it's hard for me to be pleased!

woody14619 2010-07-07 17:43

Re: Ovi Store- Tower bloxx 3d Delux demo

I've played it a quite a bit, the only time it lagged at all was when I got an SMS, and once when the IM client randomly decided to reconnect. Otherwise it was smooth (and really, those two things disrupt everything whenever they happen).

As for the resolution, no, it's not the best, but it's not distracting either. Given the choice of a high-res image vs making the game lag, I'd take the lower res with no lag. I think they've made a trade-off here, and it's one most people will agree with.

If anybody gets the "Unable to install Towerbloxx" message in the app manager, just delete the demo.

This game is not perfect but definetly worth a purchase, if we had another 50 or so games of this standard presentation etc available via ovi for N900 and I would feel like they were actually botherd about supporting N900....

Who is "they"? This is up to the developers to feel that making the games will be worth their while as people will buy them and not just pirate them. Moral of the story: buy commercial products available for the device as it is already hampered by its nature as a niche product :)

Is the full (paid) version available yet?

Edit:
Nevermind, found it on Ovi!

I suppose I mean Nokia/Ovi, they have hardly been sucessful in making the N900 a commercially viable option for commercial game developers. maybe user numbers do not attract the right people, but games like this and angry birds can run on any touch screen phone with right spec, so why are so few games ported to N900. I would be interested to see how many people have purchased this and angry birds level pack....

Re: Ovi Store- Tower bloxx 3d Delux demo

It is a shame that the tower blocks aren't really 3D....
The game isnt smooth for me (900mhz), in fact the previous version of this game back on my N95 wasn't smooth either ;)

Digital Chocolate made amazing games for symbian, which included brilliant Tornado and Roller Coaster ones. Hope to see them 'ported' and refreshed on maemo/N900.

Cheers,
Ralph

Ports still require development time. And so does setting up customer support. I'm actually amazed at Rovio's Angry Birds. I wonder how similar the code base or at least the level base is to the iPhone version.

It would be interesting to know how much manpower was needed to port angry birds to N900, and why rovio havent done anymore games apart from AB and Bounce... I preume they didnt deem it financially viable...

Laughing Man 2010-07-10 01:29

Re: Ovi Store- Tower bloxx 3d Delux demo

Well Bounce was a tech demo (probably paid for by Nokia). Which is why you don't see any more levels. So AB is probably their only port. And they are doing new levels so I think someone must think it's financially viable.
