Someone's mic has dropped out, lol, bet some fatty's kicked a transponder (happened to me more than once at conferences when on crew)

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
someone explain to me why the leaked "n9" was running symbian?
oh wait it was the E7 - minus a button And another thing for the conspiracy theroists - could it be that the reason a former microsoft employee is Nokia's CEO is nothing to do with getting windows mobile 7, but is about getting official versions of office on the e series phones The new CEO was head of the office software division after all and being able to include a basic office as part of the cost of your smartphone would be a big draw for many busy business bods |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
E7, N9 to me it doesn't matter unless I hear something official otherwise N9 is still rumor mill material.

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
I have to say that I'm somewhat disappointed in their "looking into the future and stick with us" theme.
I'm one of those people that have supported Nokia for a long time and though I love my N900, I feel as if Nokia have forgotten about us. We, the people who have supported Nokia when they asked for it. When they promised us proper mfe, flash 10.1 etc etc. I might be a bit too attached and emotional when talking about a company and a phone but for gods sakes, how many more time do I have to listen to the same song?!? Even with changes; OPK - Elop, Vanjoki etc... You would still be a fool to put all your eggs in the Nokia basket hoping they would take care of you in the future, if you take care of them now. |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
rovio just announced mighty eagle for angry birds
|
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
"Angry birds was available for the n900 at launch" - might be the only mention the n900 gets :-(

Angry bird developer was letting people know about angry birds. He stated that angry birds had been available on the n900 since the game came out and that it was now rolling out to all symbian devices.

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
Just to clarify regarding the leaked and speculated phones, the E7 was leaked and some ill informed people speculated whether it was the N9, eventhough it was clearly running Symbian^3. Then the N9 leaked, which has a similar shape but looks a little like a macbook pro, and it was running meego in the pictures. It also has N9 printed on it. http://zomgitscj.com/2010/08/19/rumo...ontent=Twitter
That N9 is NOT the E7 so nothing has changed in regards to the N9. It simply isn't at a stage where it can be announced, nor do we know if it will ever be. |

So no Nokia devotion. They're just bringing it to as many platforms as technically possible. But still it's great that the N900 got it quite early. |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
Have I walked into a vodafone conference? This has to be the most pointless speech I have heard in one of these conferences (for those not watching vodafone chief executive is dribbling on about market research and smartphones, not really specific to nokia, just in general)
Definite bathroom break stuff. |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
About an hour and a half in to event, you have to insert some pointless **** into the mix for people to let people know when to go to the bathroom.
It's the same reason why clubs play Justin Bieber; so people know to go get drinks... Edit: from engadget: 10:37AM Vittorio Colao, Chief Exec Vodafone, taking the stage. 10:52AM Vittorio's talking up the Vodafone network and how it can help developers. Privacy, security, and network speed / quality of service. He's droning on and on about "important activities." Hey Vitto, just provide us a fast pipe and we'll be fine, mkay? 10:57AM We're outta here! |

Back to its old habit of leaving (previous) customer disappointed |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
Isn't this a 2 day event? or was that it?
If 2 days, then what can we expect from the second day? |

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
I hope this is a 2 day event otherwise I think you can start hammering a few nails into Nokia's coffin.
Granted they have some interesting idea's but frankly they need to stop sitting on their hands and get them out into the market. That has always been one of my biggest issues with Nokia, great ideas and such but slow as (insert 4 letter word here) to actually execute. |

here is some N900 goodness

looks awesome!

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
So we have... new C-models. Touchscreen only. They really managed to make me go WOW! ;)
(Don't get me wrong, I'm not underestimating the efforts they put into the whole Qt to Ovi chain... But am I the only one who would have expected a more consumer-oriented "big thing"? They announce new C-series models every other month via press.nokia.com - that's not something you need Nokia World for.) |
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
so no meego at nokiaworld. Seems to me that nokia have drawn the short end of the stick with meego, as intel basically rebadged their moblin stuff while nokia is yet again rebuilding...

Whow... Engadget has also positive opinions about E7! Amazing ;)
|
Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
So is there another session or was that the only one for today?

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
Im confused between the new models and where they fit in on overall strategy.
For those people who want a professional class business phone, is there any reason to go to the N9 over the E7? As to where the N8 fits in  Im waiting for the N9, but all the differents models is getting confusing, but the n900 was my first nokia so Im not clear where the ranges fit in C series = ?? E series = guessing entertainment? N series = professional smartphones, - N8 for symbian lovers and N9 for geeks?? |

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
C=bang for the buck(think 6xxx series)
E=business N=top end phones(N8 is last Symbian phone in N series). X=Music and media. N9 will be very different starting from the OS but it will also have more powerful hw platform and higher reso screen than these Symbian phones. Other features we will see when it gets announced. :) |

Re: NW2010 Keynote thread.
You know... the fact that the N8 is still a Symbian phone and they didn't slide it to a new slot - C series or E series to avoid a bit of confusion to the average consumer is odd.
And yeah... the keynote 'twas a total snooze-fest. |
