Pin-Priority: 1001" >> /etc/apt/preferences

I'm afraid it doesn't.

First read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_%28protocol%29. After that download a torrent from somewhere and open it with the "Open" option from the programs menu.

i did something wrong and it messed up my preferences file, HAM shows "operation failed".
how can i fix it ?

EDIT: never mind I just deleted the preferences file and everything is back to normal.

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client)

I have installed QtRapids using the instructions on page 1, it seems to work fine, loads torrents, starts downloading, etc... My problem is after about 1-2 minutes of downloading, it mysteriously stops. It could be the torrent, but the torrent works fine in uTorrent on my PC...

Anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advanced.

If you don't mind a gui and udp protocoll I suggest you to use ctorrent+flashlite patch. For some torrents it may be helpful to delete udp tracker with www.torrenteditor.com

it works! i would like to suggest a little improvement in the gui though. like a light colored background and feel.

downloaded a 350MB file in 1hour no problems whatsoever.

thanks!

Any chance of getting this working on the N9?

At least I'm not going to do it since I don't own a N9, my N900 broke down and I now own a SGS2. Of course somebody else can do it (it wasn't originally made by me anyway) and it wouldn't probably even be difficult since it's made in QT.

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client)

Well, I would definately donate some hard earned cash to someone to port over to the N9, this is one of the apps I sorely miss from the N900.

Just to let you know, I just happened to get my development env up and running last weekend. I also managed to build QtRapids on Harmattan, but this thing originally being a plain Qt app, it looked truly fugly on N9.

So, what I am saying is: expect a Harmattan port soon-ish. I am not sure yet what that means, but I'd hope (late)-February, if all goes well.

(Being the "original" QtRapids dev, and it being what got me into this MeeGo mess in the first place, I have the ambition to take this project to an appropriate finish. Considering the current known status of N9/Harmattan)

Edit: And instead of the hard-earned cash, I would welcome a proper icon for this thing, as the Maemo5 artwork was from "yours truly". Not that I consider myself poor in the art of graphics ;)

Before You drown into harmattanish sea of Obsolescence ;) Could You please upload Maemo version to extras-devel? I can assist in that, if You have any problems (or, even upload it myself and immediately grant You maintainership, if You can provide me a debian source package output)

/Estel

If you want to try solving out the dependency problems the orginal source can be found here:
https://garage.maemo.org/scm/?group_id=1070
And the possibly slightly edited source I tried to upload to extras-devel here:
http://maemo.org/packages/source/vie...trapids/0.1-1/
Any newer source edits I had disappeared with my old computer I'm afraid. I never really managed to solve the reason why it always kept depending on the older qt version because I really don't know that musch about debian packaging. If you need any more help just ask but as I said I really dont have any idea on how to solve the problem.

I think it is better (and easy) to backport Harmattan version (when it is ready) to maemo, instead of forking the project. In theory CSSU users should be able to run all Harmattan stuff only recompiled in sb with Frematle target(assuming CSSU qt-*-dev is installed there).

Anyways, I was planning to rewrite the UI in QM and Qt components for Harmattan, so it is not compatible with Fremantle, anyways. So there will be definitely forking. However, the different UIs are to be distributed in diffrerent pacakges, as they can be used parallelly in practise, so it should bode pretty well.

Fremantle supports quite much the same QtComponents as Harmattan does so the same UI should work on both with some minor modifications. See wiki.maemo.org/QtComponents and talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=79134.

Ok, good to know, thanks!

Maybe I have to get back to checking this once I am done with the Harmattan-part. Because the original design of Qtrapids was to support multiple parallel UIs, the Harmattan/QML UI will be just another package, and can be installed independent of the current Qt UI package.

Are you sure you followed the installation instruction in the first post correctly? If yes are you sure you opened the torrent file trough the "open"-option from the program. Also check if the torrent is working properly (use it with some other torrent program on desktop). If these don't work try opening the program from terminal by running "qtrapids-gui" and then paste the possible output in here.

yep.. i followed the same installation instruction as u mentioned.. & also tried to open the torrent file from 'open' option.. but its not showing any torrent's downloading process.. i have attatch the screenshot..

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client)

Then could you paste the possible output of running the program from terminal when you try to open the torrent.

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client)

So there doesn't appear anything special on the terminal when you try to open the torrent? Only thing I could think of is that you have a bad torrent. Try downloading it again or try another file.

i tried to open torrent file from open option.. tried several torrent files to open.. but nothing start downloading.. is it just because i am having the transmission application in my N900 also??

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client)

Well it seems that I got a problem with my phone. I donīt know if it has to do with installing the QtRapids or uninstalling it since it all began then. Thatīs what I think but donīt take my word for it. This is how it all started. I installed QtRapids, then the next day I got a message that there is an update on QtRapids. I tried to install it but couldnīt because of same conflict problem. So I decided to remove it and did so. Later that day when I wanted to play music on my n900 I entered mediaplayer but got a message on my screen saying :” (no songs), also ;” (no videos). When I open my File manager and go to my folder where I downloaded my music and videos in the first place I can find them there and even play them. So everything is working if I go through File manager. Is there a way to fix this or tell me what to do if you know? Thanks in advance for all help
Best regards to you all.

I dont think your problem was caused by qtrapids but an application called tracker-cfg should help. Just open it, choose "rebuild database" from the dropdown menu and wait for a while and your problem should be fixed.

Re: [Maemo5]QtRapids (BitTorrent Client) (Finally in extras-devel!)

Since the use of .torrent files is being discontinued is there any possibility of adding magnet link handling to QtRapids? Also the mime type would need to be set to send the link from microb.

AFAIK there is no way to limit seeding or disable, it is a problem as it screws with the bandwidth. Transmission permits bandwidth limits and number of peers but the build we have for the N900 no longer is able to join most swarms.
You might try running headless transmission and using the web interface to control it as they do on the N9.
