@xenomorph72: are you using PR1.3? Did you install some modified hildon-desktop or hildon-home?

Hi CepiPerez, yeah i'm using PR1.3 with matans latest build of his modified hildon-desktop, i'm using 7 homescreens. After rebooting multiple times ive noticed the hildon home crash is not on every boot but it does happen more often than not.

Re: desktop dockbar?

How do I access extras-developers builder? Want to try out version 4. Alternatively, when will version 4 be available in extras-developers?

Also is there a way to just copy dockbars? I am using 9 desktops and it is proving a pain having to fill out the 8 spaces, 9 different times. Would like to be able to just do it once and then each new dockbar I create has those 8 things in by default.

And I am sure it has been mentioned before but what does the set image option do?

this is such a great idea...

if i could just keep the desktop dockbar on my desktop! lol.

all kidding aside, great job. thanks for making it and updating it. unlike ovi suite, this gets better with each update.

LOL :D
Exactly how I develope my things. At work when I don't anything else to do than wait for some heavy processing to finish etc :P

But I must say that after installing scratchbox to N900 (chrooted), I've been able to develope from home aswell. For example when I'm in taking a sh1t or bed etc...

And what about adding contacts in the dockbar, showing online/offline status?

Re: desktop dockbar?

@xenomorph72:
Can you tell me what are the widgets you use? I'll try to reproduce your problem.

@etuoyo:
When someone upload something to extras builder it goes automatically to extras-devel. It takes about 5-20 mins.
I'll think how to implement the dockblar clones...

Copy this image to your phone and use set image button to set it.

@LQW77:
I think it can be possible, but I need to see how QtContacs works. Maybe in the future, but I can't promise that

I can only seem to find version 3 in both FAM and Hildon Application Manager.

Same here :)

Also a question; should I be able to add more than one dockbar? Because I can't, it's not shown as widget @ menu.

Think you may need to uninstall and reinstall to get more dockbars at the moment.

Re: desktop dockbar?

I forgot to allow multiple dockbars in .desktop installation file
Update to version 0.5. It should work fine, also I've fixed the vertical dockbar launcher

Well done !
Thanks :)

Just installed v 0.5 and i think that the missing applications in the "add item" window problem was solved.
The vertical dockbar launcher is also fixed.
The remove option in the "add item" window is now at the top of the list.
No problems with reboot.
After upgrade, the last configuration was recovered - no need to reselect applications and reposition the dockbars.

I just don't understand why is it necessary to multiple install dockbar. :confused:
In my device if i want to add a dockbar in any desktop i just need to go to that desktop, switch to edit desktop mode and select "desktop menu - Add widget - Homescreen Docbar" to have another dockbar in that desktop.

Because previous version doesn't allow you to add more than one dockbar

Version 0.4 already had that functionality.

No need for multiple installations. One is just enough. :)

Thanks for your nice work.

Re: desktop dockbar?

I am still having my widgets disappearing when I restart.

Also any chance of adding option to customize widget size? I have reduced my shortcut sizes with theme customiser but I think the desktop bar uses the standard size so now the shortcuts in the dockbar are bigger than my standard shortcuts.

Nice app. There is one bug I noticed however.... When selecting the vertical option, the "Background" feature doesn't appear to work. Thx

Re: desktop dockbar?

nice update, especially the search bar and the autorotation!
but, the icons don't rotate to all 4 directions, if I turn the n900 to the left, the icons are upside down, would be nice if the icons could support all 4 possible positions

also, if you build a horiz dockbar with 10 icons, then switch to vertical, you can't open the prefs anymore, cause the prefs-icon is outside the screen;) maybe autoresize the dockbar to max width/height?

Hi, when I´m using Theme Customizer with custom icons then it don´t use them, right now I´m using Humanity with Faenza icons but the dockbar only show the Humanity ones. Just so you know. :)

did sticky dock bar that don't move when desktop is scrolled get implemented, i've not read all 6 pages so forgive me if there is answer already in here

CepiPerez 2010-11-29 16:30

Re: desktop dockbar?

@br1zer:
It works fine for me.

@bitrocky:
Rotation now works in all directions.
When you set vertical, the buttons 6 to 10 are disabled now and the dockbar is resized automatically.
Wait for 0.6 update.

@towhatend:
Can you show me the content of /etc/hildon/theme/index.theme file?

@NvyUs:
Impossible. It's a hildon-home problem.

towhatend 2010-11-29 18:37

Re: desktop dockbar?

CepiPerez, I did take a look at that file and then I found the problem. I did make a new theme (with the same stuff) and then it start to work. :)

Install the latest extras-testing version of Theme Customizer, it will correctly write changed icon theme to index.theme file among gtkrc.

Oh that would be pretty good as I just turned one of my horizontal bars vertical and lost the settings icon off the bottom of the screen!

Also any way to customize the icon size?

Nice app!

Re: desktop dockbar?

The application is great (as usual with your stuff) CepiPerez!

I like very much how stable is the autorotation (compared for example with Dr Launch).

I also vote for "Cutomize Icon Size" feature. Actually the icons are very tiny to me.

Re: desktop dockbar?

Amazing app :) icon size adjusting would be most welcome. default is very small. else everything seems stable :)

Agreed.

It would be also nice to smaller borders, because 8 normal shortcuts take about the same space as dockbar with 8 shortcuts.

Hi Cepi

What do you think about Mulleboy's
idea ?

http://www.meegosweden.com/media/kun...t%20design.png

a scrollable (a la Mac) dockbar with apps or contacts shortcuts, with vertical or horizontal orientation and portrait landscape aware

If it could be done (and i bet you can do it :) ) it would be a WOW application. :eek:

You can fit like 20 icons in that space without scrolling, so is really necessary? And in Maemo you can easily select contact in desktop by typing name's couple first letters.

Of course you are wright but a scrollable contacts or apps dockbar would be much more nice and fun to use.

Maybe it looks nice, but widgets/launchers main priority is usability and quickness what scrolling isn't :)

Thanks for a wonderful little application!

Quick question, how do i set up multiple instances of the dock bar?

Re: desktop dockbar?

The same way you configure all widgets is the way to configure each dockbar

Re: desktop dockbar?

Hi. Iam using homescreen dockbar version 0.0.6. I get the background with a horizontal bar but not with the vertical bar. I know this has been mentioned in the thread, but I have the latest version don't I ? The vertical background has never worked on any version for me. Has anyone got any ideas/a fix/workaround ? I see that it is not very common after it was "fixed" by previous version updates.

Re: desktop dockbar?

I was desperately looking for something like this. I am a big fan of AWN/Docky in Ubuntu and wanted something similar in Maemo. Before installing,few doubts:
1) Is there any announe thread for this? I am sure many people might be searching for this. It will be helpful for better tracking. Probably edit the title of this thread?
2) Which repo is it available in? devel or testing?
3) How stable it is? Any memory issues?
4) Is there an auto-hide feature for the dock?

Thanks a ton, CepiPerez for making this. I am sure many people would love to have this on Maemo.

Off-topic: Is there any app which auto-hides the status applet and brings it only when I tap on empty screen in desktop (like the button which slides down for customizing desktop) ?

Re: desktop dockbar?

@CepiPerez

I love Homescreen dockbar but now with the last CSSU, and his rotating habilities, I have a problem.

I have a trick to put Homescreen Dockbar in right up corner in the screen, by copying his configuration file to a backup file ( cd .config/cepiperez ; cp Homescreen\ Dockbar.conf Homescreen\ Dockbar.conf-BACKUP ), editing the lineof the y coordinate (finishes in postion-y=NN (being NN a number)) for changing that number to 0. Then, power off, power on, load Homescreen Dockbar and voila! now it is leveraging an space normally empty :)

Well, as I am telling, I have a problem with last CSSU, when rotating desktp to portrait, and again to landscape, dockbar moves and then it isn't in 0 y coordinate :(

Cepi, help! (and thank u very much from spain dude).
