No. I have to open extkbd and "reconnect" devices. That sucks! :( But at least it works like before (with bt-hid-scripts)!

My guess would be Ctrl+Left click.Or the scroll wheel button.

love the browser freemangordon, hope to see improved iterations as you said with some support from the community. Big props for your initial work! :)

Sorry to hear that, maybe you should consider buying another mouse. Did you check your mouse whether there is some "connect" button on it. Mine for example reconnects only when i press a button or scroll a wheel. And disconnects when "pair" button is pressed.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Using PR 1.3 firmware does not connect, BT mice, after being automatically paired. Would need a way to activate from the N900.

USB mouse works fine.

In the native browser you can see the mouse pointer but you can not select anything with it.

Maybe I should write some BT HID UI. Test how the things look on my desktop PC (Win XP) - you need to manually connect to mouse (did not try with keyboard, most probably the same), so UI is needed on n900 too. Thinking of new status area applet or replacement of stock BT one. Anyway I will do something (when I have time :( )

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

that is true. I hope devs will soon release mouse support that will let us use it on our native web browser.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

@freemangordon, It must be possible to fix it in the browser. if im correct it has nothing to do with the closed drivers. You still input via the touchscreen so if you let microb think that the touchscreen is pressed (so emulated mouse) it must be possible to show a mouse layer on top and let it work.

I dont want 10 internet browsers on my n900. the microb works best and thats the one i want to use.

freemangordon 2010-12-01 17:00

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Yes, it is possible... but if one have microb source code. You are correct, it has nothing to do with drivers, but the way microb uses events from input devices. Just for your information - touchscreen coordinate system is absolute, 3 axis (x,y,p) where p is pressure. Mice uses relative, 2 axis (x,y).
What this mean is that when you touch the screen on your n900 an event containing those 3 values is generated and send to microb. And microb uses this information (including pressure) to check what you are trying to do. But when you press left mouse button the information send is missing this(pressure) very important part. And the differences does not stop here, the type of event itself is different.

Anyway , changing the way mice behave will need kernel evdev support rewritten.

But.. you can always do it yourself and share it with us. I will be the very first to say big thank you

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Thanks a lot for mouse support!
I can report that my USB ThinkPad keyboard with TrackPoint works flawlessly.
It needed just one reboot after installing extmou to detect the TrackPoint correctly.
Keyboard itself was detected nicely by extkbd. I set the layout to Generic 102-key (Intl) PC.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Is there a way to just enable the cursor with these scripts? Synergy works on N900, but it would be quite easier to use if I could see where I'm pointing.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Yes, there is, look in /usr/lib/hal/hal-setup-mouse-cursor.sh

@freemagordon

Hi freeman! First of all, thank you for your work, extmou works really great, BUT... :)

I'm trying to play Quake 2 with an external usb mouse, but I can't make the character turn left or right more than a little amount of degrees: the problem is that when the mouse cursor reach the right side/left side of the screen, even if I continue to move the mouse to the right/to the left, the driver doesn't seem to see my movement anymore.

I'm not sure this is a driver issue...and I'm not really sure that I explained myself :D

P.s.: great nick!

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

yes, I understand what your problem is. But I suspect it is quake's issue, maybe it is n900 touchscreen optimised. Maybe it is a good idea yo ask quake's maintainer, to see his opinion on the problem.

BTW do you know when episode 3 will be ready ;)

About episode 3, well...have you ever heard about Duke Nukem Forever? :(

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Thanks! Works great with my Logitech V470 BT Mouse!
(But I also had to manually reconnect via your extkbd Application (which I also love, btw. ;) ) the first time... now it seems to work, when I press the "connect" Button on the mouse)
And I can't see the cursor, when I use fennec 4.0b2?

Thanks again for your great applications!
Michael

Never? Really? a) you are too young b) you are not a hardcore gamer... :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever:

Quote:

Duke Nukem Forever is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems,[7] currently in development by Gearbox Software, and a sequel to the 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D, as part of the long-running Duke Nukem video game series. Intended to be groundbreaking, it has become notorious in the video games industry for its severely-protracted development schedule; the game has been in development since 1997.
Probably it will be out in 2011...I hope...

freemangordon: Please make xserver-xorg-input-evdev-mouse conflict with the xorg-evdev-mouse package, not the bt-hid-scripts package. I have changed the dependencies of my scripts to point to your package, instead of the binary azerty1 package, but I can't install them because your package (incorrectly) conflicts with them!

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

I cannot install it because I cannot get libxmuu1.

I have all repositories enabled, but still...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Just waiting for my usb adaptor to arrive to try this. Just wondering if anyone has tried this with firefox seeing as it doesn't work with microb.

freemangordon 2010-12-07 12:27

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

@qole: ok, will fix it

@king Ralphred : yes, it works, search this thread on how to show cursor in fennec

@ mihapodb : what is the error given? some logs please ;)

mihapodb 2010-12-07 14:55

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

That is what I get whet I try to:

apt-get install libxmuu1

Code:

Package libxmuu1 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean taht the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source.
E: Package libxmuu1 has no installation candidate.

freemangordon 2010-12-07 17:25

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

There is something wrong with your repository settings, the package is here http://maemo.org/packages/view/libxmuu1/

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

I have no idea, I have never had a single problem and I have devel and testing repositories enabled...

Where can I manually download it? Is there any way?

try here http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...xmuu1/1.0.4-1/

arghhh I would really like to have mouse attached to N900 :)

freemangordon 2010-12-08 08:03

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

no,no, you have to dowload it on your n900 and install it with dpkg

mihapodb 2010-12-08 08:09

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mouse Support - extmou

Can you please help me how can I do this?

@qole: evdev driver no longer conflicts with bt-hid-scripts

I've got my work mouse working (HP UAE96) via h-e-n perfectly. I had to install Qole's bt-hid-scripts, simply for his cursor "app" to show/hide the cursor. And I'm now using Opera for internet with mouse (although I'd much rather use MicroB as Opera's zoom really annoys me).

Nokia SU-8W and no name eBay bluetooth mouse running through Opera here. Thanks freemangordon. :D
