well, go to jailbreakme.com and slide "jailbreak" and you're dont jailbreaking.

and When I reboot my iPhone, it's still on there.

Which won't help his friends at all, as they've most likely already upgraded past 4.0.1, the last version jailbreakme supports.

also, I said "I guess it's some kind of voip," and it works like charm. If it's voip thing.

Exactly. You have no idea. You haven't tried. There are several programs for iOS that claim to be able to do it, but you don't know if they work well, or even at all. Your statement that they "work like a charm" is not based on any actual knowledge or experience.

I believe you've mistaken the point that the previous fellow member said about the iPhone 4. He said "new bootrom" image which he meant 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 system version.

Jailbreakme.com will only work with version 4.0.1. So please do your research. Yes you can downgrade the firmware to 4.0.1 to make it work with Jailbreakme.com but that would mean you will loosing some extra functionality from the latest firmware :)

Downgrade to iPhone4 4.1 OS is jailbreakable via apps on both windows and Mac, and it is perminantly but 4.2.1 is not perminant via greenrain.

I'm not an iphone user but yet I know how to do this sort of things.

Have a merry xmas
Sorry to butt in guys haha long time no see.

Re: I'm (very) happy now with iPhone 4

Today is Christmas Day.

Today people generally think "Goodwill to everyone" and people try and have a happy day.

Many people use this time to reflect over the year and think about people less fortunate than ourselves. Put our selfish desires aside and think about other people.

Which brings me to this thread.

okhabin chooses this day to insult people here on the maemo forum by telling eveyone the "iPhone is great and N900 is bad".

Which speaks volumes about your character.

The mobile phone market is quite healthy and there are plenty of products for all types of users.

The iPhone is a good phone, so are Nokias, Blackberrys, android and even Windows phones too.

Think about what you want and buy the phone of your choice.

But thinking obviously is beyond you.

The good news Apple can do your thinking for you because....

....there's an app for that.

Merry Christmas and goodwill to everyone.

Too bad you felt the need to make a point out of this...

Does it really even matter? You've found happiness with the N900. He's found happiness with the iPhone 4.

Arguing about it makes really no difference to either of you.

The point is that someone had asked him a question, and he attempted something resembling an authoritative answer despite utter cluelessness.

That's worse than just trolling. That's straight up misinformation.

The iphone 4 is a nice device. I don't fault him for liking it. I fault him for being a ***** and for trolling.

I'm actually interested in the SIP capabilities of iOS. But this guy utterly failed to answer the question.

Re: I'm (very) happy now with iPhone 4

i feel you. Been wondering everyday whether I should sell my N900 and replace it with Samsung Galaxy Tab (and just use my blackberry for phone function).

Things I love are the customisations, the address book, unbeatable conversations app, being connected flawlessly to facebook chat, gtalk, skype and msn and yahoo (through jabber account to try and conserve battery - though still only last about 6 hrs). I also have almost 300 tomboy notes and android does not have a tomboy editing app (just reader). So migrating my notes would be a painful experience.

However, for all the greatness that comes with the N900 I wonder everyday whether it is worth the hassle. My N900 cripples to a complete stop every single night. And it is not even a case of it having been on all day. About half way through the day I switchover batteries (do not charge from usb port because my previous N900 lost its usb port so minimising how much I use usb port on this one). So it is crippling to complete stop after like 6 hours of use. I also have several times when no menus work. If I select a menu I just get a blank screen (killall hildon-home seems to fix that for a few minutes).

I have reflashed and disinstalled everything from extras testing and developers. I am using swappolube, I am overclocked, I have tried OptimizeN900 script. Still have a crippled device each evening. I also miss several calls during the day if I am doing anything at all. Just get missed call flash up on my screen without the device ever having rung.

Truth be told it almost seems like the N900 gives me more pain than gain and I would be better off moving to a device which works well. I do use 7 desktops with loads of Queen Beecon widgets so not sure to the extent that causes the crippling effect. However, I am sure the Galaxy Tab can easily handle 9 screens filled with widgets without becoming totally unusable.

One certain thing is that I would never ever get an iphone though. Need to have something I can customise and above all cannot be one of the crowd. I always look down on iphone users as having no mind of their own and most certainly won't want people to look at me in this way.

so I did. iPhone 4. Hate to admit, but this is just different world. It's just better. N900 can't beat iPhone 4 at ANYTHING.
So who cares?
Go and bugger off to an iPhone forum and leave us with our N900s here.

I am glad you are happy with your phone, I'll stick to my pocket computer until something comes along that can replace it.

I am a patient person, I can wait.

Swapoluble sucks. You can try my script:
http://n900-tune-up.sourceforge.net

Much better vm-tuning and firewall and traffic-shapping!!!
