Okay, this is sick, but I was bored, so here it goes.

First, I searched to see if he answered any of the age threads. I was shocked that he hadn't. Hard to believe, but maybe the devastation of finding out he wasn't the youngest one on here froze his keyboard.

Then, like you, I thought he might be in the 12 to 13 range, but he's just too over the top to be that young, and he seems to have some decent gaming experience under his belt. The driving age in the U.S. is 16, but actually driving on the road with other cars and drivers is usually a humbling experience. Usually. And even though he (definitely not a she) might not be from the U.S., I felt his posting diarrhea and dickheadedness put him either below driving age or above abill_uk's age. I went with the former.

and by the way lolloo, steam is all closed source. so if you wantan app for n900, youll have to either beg the people who work at steam, or hack your way around it by yourself :)

yeah your right, hell to steam and its way of monoply business am not begging.

but as someone said here it is easy to do, because I was thinking only to show your status and your friends by grabbing the information from the steam community website. I know its impossible to make chat send and receive unless you have source code, and its been said many times. WE UNDERSTAND.

and we all need to relax why the stiffness with members here!? they cant take a joke.

I could prepare something similar to the android app, but also without chat.
Sadly I don't have enought spare time to create a app that I would never use myself. But if you would pay enought I could consider it again. :)

it's easy enough to make an app that pulls data from a web page, but it's impossible for it to keep working without someone updating it. Steam has no public api so every time they change their web page in any way the app will be very likely to stop working.

wtf? I'm 30, I made this raptr account just to show you my 1781 achievements. So, STFU :)

Gonna go play this sweet game now called snow shoveler 2011, see if i can get an achievement for not staying inside all day.

Eh... sort of. For one thing, it doesn't change all that often, and might need a couple minutes of work every year or so - I wrote my own grabber for my signature at least a year ago, and have had to update it at most once...


That being said, I too don't care about such an app(I run steam when I p.ay TF2, and only during that time)... I'd do it for $50 though.

To add some though to the topic. I think the ultimate solution wouldn't be to port these apps, but to write an OSS x-platform alternative. The most difficult part would be how to collect royalties as the app itself must be free as in beer to be able to compete with others. We all know that maintanance and labour doesn't come free.
It would need to be:
1) cross-platform (it has to run on virtually anything)
2) OSS and free as in beer
3) low demand on system and bandwidth with best posible sound quality for speech
4) clan/guild chat/voice, kind of like teamspeak.
5) maybe some additional features

With these features it would be very popullar.
Though I don't think a single person could achive this without a company or lage sum of money behind him.

Steam app for N900 is easy

I can do it, its just grabbing xml file from steam comunity wbe page and then make the interface as you like on the phone using QT.

I admit that I haven't read the whole thread. I think I missed pages 3, 4 and 5 but he states that "Steam app for N900 is easy. I can do it..."

Why continue this charade if you can so easily do it yourself?

If the source is not available then no, porting it will be extremely difficult. You didn't make it any easier for anyone.

There is the possibility of somebody developing one if there are API's available but it won't be as easy you think.

A developer's time is far better used developing something useful that many users will be gracious for as opposed to developing an application for a smaller base when said base has Sheldon (of Big Bang Theory) as their Chief Spokesman.
