yes, definitely more marketing into it, meaning that they want to understand the couple device/user in order to adjust offer and demand, meaning that (r)evolutions are around the corner.

Lol... maybe not careful enough. I'm trying to balance discretion against the desire to keep the community fired up.

I think it's okay to let people know that the program folks are working hard, don't you?

As for the details that another poster asked about, THAT I can't divulge. But I will say that some improvements, such as Flash 9, lie far more in the domain of a 3rd party such as Adobe and involve more legal than technical advancements. That's frustrating for everyone.

But for the rest, I don't think it's a violation to state for the record that Nokia is VERY interested in the success of the platform, is listening and of course wants to make sure it has the proper software and support... so please folks, don't confuse apparent inaction with negligence (or neglect).

I really hope they plan to push forward with ease of use. I have watched those iPhone videos, and it pains me to see how fluid everything is. Look how you can just fling around a web page like nobody's business. With the screen resolution we have, imagine finger flicking and tap zooming.

That's indeed why I commented back at you... This wait since the last OS is not spent to get Skype working only... ;)

have faith! as Texrat said, they re on it. Major developments are round the corner. There is a life after ITOS 03-2007 and there is a life after the N800 ;-)

Those are exactly the things I don't want on the N800.

hehe. that's a good one. copyright it!

let's say a 2nd life - or rather a parallel life is added. and a pleasant one!

but nokia has a few lives to add on which hacker editions will grow. actually, i m wondering if it is not expected.

- just like Nemo in Matrix is being told by the Architect that he s a part of the masterplan version x.x...

I told you and everyone else about the most amazing case for the Nokia N800 in my review here (Post 48)...

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...?t=5164&page=5

... and then I watched around 50 people buy it from the eBay guy whom I linked it to over the next few months... plus I am sure others bought it elsewhere... the DS is a complete joke and anyone with my case knows it. Did you ever say thank you?

Hope the N800 will live long enough to see another (supported) ITOS version / year..

I wonder if the Nokia N800 support website will crash the moment the update goes online due to excessive demand.

If all N800 owners would update at once, I think the server can manage all 16 connections... :p

more than 1 sounds a high probability. ...as i ve been advised to buy a phone for my current n800. i understand there's some time -updates- before the n800 becomes obsolete.

More than 1 on 2H 2007? Possibly... at least 1 OS update is practically guaranteed...

well the situation could become more complex if more than one device appear in the future...
will one choose to upgrade - to a more versatile device- or to update the n800?

I hope the update permits me to stream Sirius radio over the internet using their webbrowser based player. I think java is required - would this bepossible???

Don't tease us...

Though an E90 without phone bits and running maemo or similar would sure be sweet - something like the intel MID vid's....

That would be all I need; no need for Skype here, who cares.

(to listen to Sirius) Using TVersity and uSirius, while having your home computer on is just too much.

Re: So where is this elusive update?

I would have to say this is what i want to see in a OS update

Current flash
Java

With these two additions basicall all media content is available.. And that is what i think this device could separate its self from the rest of the pack like the iphone.. the thing this device has is a usable screen.. unlike web capable phones or Palms pocket pc's etc..

The iPhone looks really cool but usability on a small screen cant be good, even if it looks cool.. In the end usability is what makes things popular. Like the black berry.. they were techie gadgets only then once it cught on now every company has a thumb typing phone type device of some sort.. be it a Pocket PC or a palm.. they all have some device like this and its now commonplace everywhere.. even with non techies.. I know a lady that loves here palm phone, and she is a bumbling idiot when it comes to computers.. I swear she uses text and email messages more then the voice part of the phone.. its quite scary actually where these devices have penetrated.

I also thing the n800 will really take off in the youth crowds, where they don't necessarily want a cell bill every month for the iPhone.. I know if i can get 90% of my calling needs done on gizmo or a sip type app ill cancel my cell.

It seems to be great! I guess that there is something that we all wait, something that anyone couldn't guess and also something missing because of technical problems. And no doubt that it's nearby :)

Hi E-Ville,

A usable screen isn't too strong a barrier since new devices like the Toshiba G900 has the same resolution screen.

Sorry my idea is not to tease. But to deliver food for thought. If users would be given the choice between several hw versions of the IT, would nt that be at the same time great and more complex to choose?

Yeah but there is a big difference between that 3' screen and the screen on the n800 and the price on that thing is too high.. for hat much i might as well spring for a UMPC.

Not to mention thats a Windows device not linux, linux has a attraction for me.
