Sorry if this was answered but does this thing improves phone call/skype audio quality as well?

It improves phone call quality, and should affect Skype call quality as well.

Hello,

This is great, qualitiy is very good. But volume is increased too much. I can't set it to low. Could you please correct this or create a second script with low volume?

Kind regards

greg

volume level is too much for what aspect (e.g. headset, phone call) or application exactly?

I think for the headphones... i think the same, the volume level should be lowered a little...

Re: N900 AudioBooster

Also just to clarify, the audiobooster stays even after restart of the phone, correct?

yea it remains on restart...why not simply lower the headset volume...

Because it's too loud even with smallest volume (set via volume slider). If one sets it one more step lower, then it's muted :P

I love the boost of quality, but can't really use the patch since I can't listen music when going to sleep. It's too loud. What value should I adjust and from which .parameters -file?

This was for the headphones only. BT HF and Speakers and FM Transmitter are great.

Thanks!

Re: N900 AudioBooster

i have the porblem, that after a reboot, the sound adjustment doesn't work like it should!

the output volume is at maximum and the output control is at minimum :-/

do you understand my problem?

Agreed... already in the orgiinal, the lowest volume step on the N900 (for earphones) is too loud... it's almost as if the volume on the N900 is linear instead of logarithmic (we hear logarithmically, not linearilly, we perceive a percentual increase of the actual sound pressure - for example 50% more sound pressure - as the same kind of "step size"... this is why sound is measured in dB - an inherently logarithmic scale)

@d-iivil

Change the second to last value(s).
You'll notice that i broke the trend in the negative values by adding positive values....change those positives.

@StocChr

seems I left an extra line of code in the "lineout" file. I'll fix the problem soon.....

I've noticed the lineout parameter, when exactly is that used? can I get line out audio out of the N900?

Re: N900 AudioBooster

Well I've just updated it. Not many changes:

Improved tv out audio a bit.

Fixed up and added more info to documentation.

Fixed the volume prob mentioned earlier.

I noticed a problem with the script so to speak...it seems the n900 has the ability to kill the right side of headphones...so I fixed that issue up...unfortunately this also means lower bass for headphones....the n900's headset would still sound great though since it can handle the bass.

I'm currently looking for a work around on headphone bass.

@DACHIGGA

Yea man there was always lineout audio. The lineout file is used by/for headphones, as well as audio cables.

Oh I never knew that, how exactly do I use the line out? I mean I can never get a real "line out" all I ever get is amplified headphone out.

Is there a cable I need or a option to be set to get a real "line out"?

Re: N900 AudioBooster

Oh my dear god.... I was going to write you about my experience with your patch, since I tested it with my n900 and a sennheiser MM450 (and also my hi-fi system too)... main thing that I wanted to say is that there seems to be a problem : when you reach 2/3 of the volume bar, bass does not increase anymore but the high (sorry dunno the word lol i'm french) part continues to increase...
But as I just read the topic, I saw that you need to fix the headPHONE part but that the headSET part was working well... that's what I just checked ! and WOW it's amazing ! too bad the nokia's headset isn't as good as my beloved sennheiser mm450 ^^
can't wait to test the fixed version =P
keep up the good work ;)

Re: N900 AudioBooster

I have installed the Updated version, but i think the previous which was last modified on 02.03.20111 was better in TV-Out, so i installed the old one ;)
But thank you for the great job, works pretty well, needed to lower the volume for the earpiece..

Re: N900 AudioBooster

Hello,

can you tell me how I have to change the config files to lower the maximum loudness for the headphone jack? My in-ear headphones are very loud so I only use the most buttom volume range. With a limited output I could adjust the volume more gradually.

Re: N900 AudioBooster

i have a problem, when i use the script, i get a muffled like bass on only my flac files on both my shure headsets (e3c, and se425). but my temp fix is to remove the script, and reinstall the script which fixes it. but when the system itself makes sound (ie: text message, alarm, ringtone, or anything that uses the speakers) and when i try to play a flac file, the bass muffled is back. my flac files are played through mediabox. anyone experience the same thing? other than this issue, i really enjoy the better sound i get from my headphones.

Re: N900 AudioBooster

@dachigga

nope not possible as headphone out & lineout are tied into each other.

@nicholes
I do not plan on making any widgets because I simply don't see it fit as the script is actually a personal hack, but if any one else is interested in making a widget then they'll have to pm me cause I'll need to point them in the right direction. Also, restarting does not affect the script.

@raily
did you try reading the documentation? try to explain that info here would be a pain.

@bobbydoedoe
yep, been trying to fix this problem for days now, at this point it seems to be an hardware problem, so.....I may have to reduce the bass for the next script sadly, but hey the volume would still be louder :). Hopefully I would fix this sometime in the future. i may upload the new script friday maybe after some more testing.

I've now moved on to looking at the n900's battery life, thus far I've made a lot of progress :).

yeah! battery power!!

i use 2-4 batteries/day! so even eliminating one would be great.

Re: N900 AudioBooster

hello Savage, thank you for your script its awesome ,, really liked it call audio is clear and loud, phone stereo speakers are little loud with less bass, but one thing i dint like is music is not so clear after 80% volume but it was loud( bass is less & some distortion) using wh-205
but thanks for your hard work ,, really appreciate it :)
one thing more can we increase the bluetooth handsfree volume i still feel its quite low,, thank you

correct command is type in xterm:-> sh AudioBoost.sh

Re: N900 AudioBooster

I used
Code:

x-maemo.wb_meq = "false"
to disable the extra-extra bass on ihfandlineout.parameters, and it responds much better now. Less muddy, better bass handling by my in-ear headphones. Works like a charm! However, I'm still fiddling with the volume settings. How do I lower the minimum level by quite a large number?

EDIT: replaced the AudioBoost lineout.parameters by lineout.parameters from Restore folder. After that, changed most settings back to AudioBoost settings, except for volume control. Sounds great, volume is able to go lower now again. Still, great punch on the bass!

Thank you. Very useful. I was annoyed by the phone speaker for quite a while now. Hope this improves the volume when speaking to people.

Re: N900 AudioBooster

AudioBoost is like playing a little with a hidden equalizer, right ? cause theres something not right in the sound..like whos playing with the equalizer didn't do that right. I listen to rock and some trance songs with my headphones and in rock songs the treble is just too high which also messes up the trance songs..i may be wrong but thats my experience.
also when i applied Removeaudio.sh it didn't return to normal, the sound was a little low

Re: N900 AudioBooster

Since I applied your patch, the sound I record with "Recorder" is very bad (crackling noises). I tried removing the patch, but nothing happened - neither the microphone quality was back to normal, nor the media player quality (which I noticed when I was surprised by the good bass quality).

I didn't restart the device yet, but I don't think that could be a solution since the script already restarts pulseaudio.

Any ideas on this?

Re: N900 AudioBooster

i would also like how to remove this.the command doesnt work.The audio is loud and distorted in my opinion after 80 percent volume.
