It seems that openness is a obvious characteristic for Maemo devices, but not Maemo users.

I like discussion about technical differences.
I sometimes even lurk and like the differences between posters like e.g. danramos, 9000, ysss and so on. ;)

But there is a difference between "openness" and a completely senseless discussion like
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=71216
where the OP obviously was just looking for attention.

Of course you have to research before you buy something.

In the same way you research before buying a car or other
technical stuff.

If you buy a VW Polo and then complain that it is to small,
that IS strange. ;)

If you buy a VW Polo and then come to the forum complaining that all your friends use different cars then there is something strange in your other habits. ;-)

Of course it is a pity that in our case VW now thinks that cooperation with Trabbi ( http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant ) is best. ;-)
But as long as you have a community that thinks Trabbi is **** and VW cars are supported by community, the research was not in vain.

The best thing to do is report the posts/threads immediately.

We have been recently deleting posts and giving infractions to some members due to forum rule violations. FYI, the forum rules are here: http://talk.maemo.org/faq.php?faq=vb...q_tmorulestext

Thanks.

And what's with the annoying bada rox tags that's almost on every thread.. can we report misuse of tags??

Re: Keep TMO Clean!!!

I agree keeping TMO "clean" is the best way for it to remain what it is actually: the main/unique source of valuable information to learn how to get the most of your N900 and get answers before even asking !

Personally, I find TMO rather clean and threads are properly assign to categories... so what ? just go on that way.

Many thanks to moderators for the job !

PS: "my" N900 is not obsolete because I am able to do much more with it than my friends/collegues do with their Androids :)

If I LOVE LOVE LOVE my N900, how will I keep loving it after Nokia abandons it? I will have to choose another phone, right?

The fact is that this community is BEYOND loyalty and always has been. It is for QUALITY no matter what company offers it. While Nokia goes chasing the will-o'-the wisp, we are still here, still supporting the idea of the Internet Tablet while Nokia has abandoned it. Post about Nokia and ask why it has abandoned us, not why we have abandoned Nokia.

Wooooosh.

I think you hit reply on the wrong post(maybe the wrong thread) because I have no idea what you're talking about.

As for the rest of it, I'm sorry...I don't have any personal attachments to any corporations, or the device(s) themselves. It's hard to have feelings for something that will never have feelings for you. I bought a device, they sold one. End of story.

You even found the thread I was too lazy to reference.

If it violates the rules, sure you can report it. As for the 'bada rox' tag, I see that it's one member who keeps doing that. Maybe a fan lol.

I am not sure this board should associate with ethnic cleansers, mutant cleansers, hardware cleansers or software cleansers. Humanity is a spectrum and we should accept that some individuals may not communicate as well as others. If the thread is an offense to some, stop feeding it and it will become obsolete in no time. But I disagree with imposing more and more rules to deny access to users who are disappointed with N900, or who seek advice about other devices. Intolerance is a root of many evils, so quit hating and keep loving your family idiot

Nokia has done all i wanted from them and that is to release it. Shame they couldnt give us all the source code then they would have realy done me proud.

I'm 90% sure as he was banging the drum for Bada big time, a few weeks ago. I haven't really seen many other people around here mention it. But I could be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5, I dunno.

I definitely remember that somebody was.. and it was potentially interesting (especially since I had never even heard of it before) but he never really provided very convincing reasons for this community to give it very much attention, unless I missed something. Does the N900 run Bada? It probably could, right? Like I said, It was potentially interesting... but I'm not sure I'm interested or that many here are from what I've seen.

In response to what problem? I think this site is politer than ever.

It is AMAZING to me how many web sites and companies basically turn their moral codes or social codes over to the WORST ELEMENTS who they have ever encountered. For example, who do you think wrote the forun rules referred to above? I think they were basically written by Orange Box.

Hehe, same here. I still haven't got a damn clue what Bada is. Something to with Samsung.....but that's about all I know.

Well, I think it was pointed out in some thread as a contender for an open-source platform that can sit on top of a POSIX OS like Linux... which was fine, but aside from a few times where that was relevant, I'm not sure how it relates to any of the Maemo devices.

I think mods should now.

Delete ALL threads that moan about the device. None should be allowed to be on the forum for long enoug to gain alot of posts.

Just straight delete/close them!

Also tagging privelleges should be simply removed for everyone apart from the creator of the thread. Why do randoms need to be able to tag posts??
