Had some trouble fully updating the repos, but it finally installed.

Very, very nice !

Re: [Announce] Mobile Web Mail - Gmail

I just installed it. Astonishing :).

The only recommendation that that I can make is smaller/transparent/less distracting/more elegant button for switching accounts.

Re: [Announce] Mobile Web Mail - Gmail

Another suggestion for you Felipe : an additional button on the menu, or better yet an alternate home page, that would display a dashboard with all configured accounts and the number of unread messages in each one. Clicking on one would open it - an inbuilt notifier, of sorts...

Something wrong with the repository file, says its corrupt when it tries to install

I really don't know what is wrong. Have you tried to download the deb file and install it directly?

Re: [Announce] Mobile Web Mail - Gmail

Yeah just did that. Worked.

Some mbarcode plugin had a similar problem a while ago. Author pushed it again and it worked. Supposedly was an autobuilder glitch....

Just in case someone didn't try it: to change the zoom you have to use the volume buttons. :)

(On the symbian version you can pinch the screen but maemo does not support multi touch :( )

Two suggestions:
1. (Would possibly be a pain to implement, but) recognize the swirl gesture like the MicroB browser does? (It would be great if open sourced as the same gesture recognition can be applied easier into other browsers, such as the maybe-someday-done MicroB UI FOSS replacement, etc.)
2. Make a settings option for using the volume keys for volume or zoom. It's another one of those give-users-choices things I like so much: if it doesn't seem like a realistic use case just think of all the people who leave Volume keys in MicroB set to change volume instead of zoom; you can ask around of course, but I'd wager it's about half of the people who typically use MicroB as a main browser. Not sure how easy this would be for you to implement though, as a user configurable setting, given the UI paradigm of this (basically full-screen mobile gmail view).

Love this. Thank you for providing this.

One request - the W symbol that flashes is too frequent and is distracting. any way to reduce the frequency or have it displayed in a more subtle manner?

Re: [Announce] Mobile Web Mail - Gmail

Just uploaded new version: 1.0.6

This version has just a few changes:
- exit button replaced by "x" icon on top right
- switch task icon
- help/about icon

p.s. I updated the version to 1.0.6 so it will match the symbian/ovi version schema.

It did make sense and I didn't miss it. It is just one of these things that take time. This is quite complicate and unless I figure out a way to seamless integrate to mobwebmail it would become a new project.

This was a "small" update and I am afraid that is all I will be able to handle for a while.

Re: [Announce] Mobile Web Mail - Gmail

No problem, I wasn't exactly expecting it yesterday, I know simple-looking stuff can be actually tricky to implement... just wanted to check if you'd noticed and hear what you thought :)

Good work fcrochik. I really like the small changes you have made. This is one of my favorite applications of all time. Even better than Angry Birds if I were to compare them (ha ha ha ha).

It is in the top of the list! It is also a must for me!

Just in case, the other top request is allowing more of google services within the application (instead of opening a external browser).

great email app. The only thing is the Google image at the top left corner. Its very pixelated. I know its a small detail but it's kind of annoying.

Both my accounts are Google App logins, so I can confirm it works.

Now you got me! How does it work if you can't define the URL?

Use your full email address as your login:

e.g bob@maemo.org

Well, if it can help narrow it down, mine is the free one.

GOTCHA!!!!!

You must first upgrade the user (and domain) to the new version of google apps. After I upgraded mine now I can access my account using the same URL that I use to access my @gmail.com account.

I can confirm this. I upgraded the domain and one user, and now MobWebMail works for this google apps user, when logging in with the full mail adress.

how do i "upgrade the user (and domain) to the new version of google apps" specifically? what do you mean by "upgrade," which site specifically do i do this?

Also I kept trying to add my @unviersity_domain and now when i click the Mobile Web Mail icon, it shows me two "Gmail: sign in" buttons: those two emails aren't even setup yet.. i couldn't get my Google Apps emails to sign in.. why are they even there already??

About the "Gmail: sign in": when you close MobWebMail, they will disappear.

The administrator for the google apps domain, must upgrade the domain, and let you upgrade your account.

MobWebMail is now ALSO available in the OVI Store. It is the exact same version currently available in extras-devel.

Enable extras-devel (for adventurous people who are not afraid of braking things up and understand meaning of doing backups constantly) Or you can go to ovi store (link was couple of messages above your message)

I just downloded this app, and am on the work wireless. When I fire it off and try to sign into gmail, I get

Code:

Loading error
Connection closed

I also get the same when trying to get to gmail through macuco. Any ideas?
