Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
I just got it to work from the local drive.. The problem is the checksum number at the end of each command is incorrect. I deleted the checksum for both commands and works fine now

@all facing bailing out problems
i also faced that problem again and again... but i took risk and got the solution !!! so all you have to do is 1st edit the file to Code:
# make sure your connected to the internet MOST IMPORTANT THING USE * ROOT * Command insteat of * SUDO ROOTGAIN * Now just type the same command Code:
nitdroid file:///home/user/MyDocs/nitdroid.manifest it will install the Nitroid !!! but for me ... i got problem for kernel .. got the same message so dont be scared simply type this command if you get kernel error Code:
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb enjoy nitdroid ... but ... camera + Calls not working ! SHARE UR REVIEWS ! |

Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
Hello I've folllowed the instructions from mrbilli (downloaded the files manually) and the nitdroid installation was succesfull, however, when I restart the phone and choose for nitdroid it gets stuck at the android boot screen! The animation on the logo is visible and the screens blinks occasionally but it doesn't continue.
Any help? |

Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
Just a note of reassurance; on the "FAILURE-BAILING OUT" error:
Keeps happening. I copy/pasted text exactly as it appears and placed the .txt file in home/user/MyDocs Still getting FAILURE-BAILING OUT" I would do the manual install, however DO NOT under ANY circumstances want to install on eMMc as doing so eats away at space on rootfs. Just better to install on SD card. Has anyone managed to get this to work as the instructions have stated? |

Hell...
I can't get this working. I tried executing Code:
nitdroid file:///home/user/MyDocs/nitdroid.manifest The files referenced in the manifest are actually there. I checked that a lot of times. But I always get this: Code:
Formatting /dev/mmcblk1p1 (vfat) ...done Thanks in advance. EDIT: I finally got passed ONLY through that error. Just run "nitdroid", then cancelled by typing Ctrl + C after manifest gets downloaded and edited it so it pointed to my local kernel and nitdroid compressed file. But it seems impossible to solve the last error. When extracting, it is doing something on the background and then finally it finishes without output, just the always joker "FAILURE. Bailing out...". It seems that the file is broken (maybe?) but I tried downloading several times and the same comes everytime... EDIT 2: Nothing. If the problem was the SD card it would fail while formatting, right? If the problem was the manifest it woudn't be able to download the files or select them locally (if I modify the manifest to point to local files), right? The other one that remains is the N12_UMay.tar.gz file, but I don't see what the problem could be there, as I tried downloading (the default method in first post) and pointing to local files. Neither of them worked. I'm definitely stuck here. Help ??? |
Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay

Hi Fabry, I'm new and I don't know how to contact you in private...
by the way, I've installed android on my n900 but i still have some problems for example wifi gives me problems sometimes and the 3g data doesn't work! I didn't upgrade android could be this the problem? I'm italian and it would be easier to share information in pvt! thanks a lot. |
Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
I have corrected an error on latest manifest (wrong kernel name) and then I have personally tested the procedure.
For me IT HAS WORKED at first attempt (N12 downloaded and then installed on SD). Be aware that you must manually connect N900 to Internet (with WiFi or UMTS), Nitdroid-Installer will NOT open internet connection automatically |

Error Installing nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb
First I installed an early version of Nitdroid...it booted up...but didn't login to google...
Second, I managed to finally get N12_Umay installed using nitdroid.manifest file over on talk.maemo.org forum....however, got 'bailing out' error when it tried to install nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb. So, then tried installing this kernel manually using dpkg -i command....but always get the error message: Code:
Reading database .... 20678 files and directories currently installed.) Thanks! Mark UPDATE Got solution to this problem from i-CAD over at nitdroid forums.... Thought I'd share it just in case it helps someone else..... Quote:

It booted up once OK and started to setup Android...but then it crashed and rebooted...and from then on I can't boot into either Maemo or Nitdroid....starts booting either one, but then either gets stuck or reboots again..... Was about to reflash N900 again.....and suppose I'll have to do that first as I don't think I can replace the kernel now since I can't seem to boot into Maemo.....hmmm...... |

Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
Have you used a SD Class 10 ?
It seems a corrupted Nitdroid partition and this can happen if you use a SD Class 10 |

Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
Some (many ?) SD Class 10 have problems with N900.
There is a kernel patch that fixes but unfortunately Nitdroid's (and MeeGo's) kernel doesn't use it |
Re: [How To] Nitdroid-Installer: install GingerBread N12 UMay
Thanks, I read about this issue on the other forum thread....
So, I will try to exchange the class 10 32gb card for another one (class 8 or 6....).... In meantime, I found a 16gb class 2 card I can try using..... Oh well.....thanks for all your help with this... |
