Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Wow, excellent. All this time people said this was impossible and couldn't be done, and this just quietly gets mentioned in a complete state, not a 'i will work on this one day'. Excellent job.

One issue, the changelog says portrait mode is implemented but it doesn't seem to work for me? I rebooted after installation but it stays in landscape, are there settings somewhere or something?

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

portrait works, no settings... see my vid.

@foolegg maybe with the keys size you could add different layouts, one like it is currently and one that fits the screen?

Any way to get portrait working then?

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

i think this is a great keyboard... if the spacing and layout of the keyboard can be improved, this is a superb replacement for the default keyboard due to it's much better portrait support... the keys are more comfortable to type on in portrait.

Are you intending adding other languages?

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Hi, Im having some problems with this.
I installed it through faster app manager but when i try to bring up the virtual keyboard, nothing comes up.

Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

im lovin how often u update this...

Ive said this before,but one thing I think could be improved is the shift and symbol function. the toggle function turns off after pressing a key, it should stay toggled until pressing shift/@ button again.
for single symbol or capital, press shift/@ then drag to desired key.

also can you please add english to T9 keyboard?

thanks again, this is a great contribution.

kudos.

F2K.

Any chance of adding support for scim tables to allow entering Traditional Chinese using other input methods (Cangjie/Cantonese/etc)?

Just wanted to say that I am very pleased that you are working on this. I am quite careful with the devel repository so I will wait till it hits testing or extras, but I am following this project. Thank you for your work.

@foolegg: if you could make the qwerty shift and symbol keys stick like the portrait shift key that would rock!

foolegg 2011-05-25 12:02

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

@kureyon
yes. as I known, now there is "无虾米" and "仓颉" table. you can google it.

@MetalSer
I don't know how make it enter testing repo...I will look up wiki for this.

@adrianmilev
I found the issue with 36 week verion, I update again.

@f2thak
I have try make shift stick, but it is confuse to use. I hate it.
and, I rarely type more than one uppercase charact or symbol, so I keep shift key not stick

Tried this, this can be something good.
Its fast, thats great.

Great work on this. I'd love to see a "minimal" layout that takes up less screen space by using a small text entry box and removes the bulk at the bottom under the t9/qwerty selection.

How to enable hover transparency?

hover transparency? you mean is mouse hover? I process all mouseEvent by myself, in RootMouseArea.qml and FakeMouseArea.qml.

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Wow! Thanks for all the hard work. I'll give the new version a try.

Using Ctrl + Space for input method switching would be more familiar for many, considering it's almost the de facto standard.

Edit: So, currently it only works in some applications, and the symbols keyboard is gone as that's part of HIM. I guess I'll wait until these issues are sorted out.

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

Great Job..

A suggestion, can you enable the use of characters like ` ^ ç, commum in portuguese.

And there is a suggestion would be to change the
keyboard layout portrait into something close to the browser Opera or similar to the layout horizontal keyboard ?

Re: [Annnounce] mcip - a Virtual Keyboard in QML with hildon input method plugin

i have had this installed since you released it to the repos. but as of today I have to remove it from my device due to a new feature. when you are in an app such as contacts or xterm. when you type with the hardware keyboard the chinese symbols come up on the screen.

to stop this you press ctrl. I think there should be a setting to have either EN or Chinese so you dont have to change it sometimes, sometimes you dont either which makes it annoying.

also the new version has introduced a really annoying bug: the shift and fn buttons have been broken. the stock function has been altered. pressing either of the buttons then pressing a key does not perform the expetced outcome. eg press shift then a does lowercase a instead of captial A. also when holding a key it repeats the letter instead of doing the appropriate symbol. eg hold E repeats e instead of inputing a 3.

thanks and I hope these issues can be fixed ASAP.
