Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Well, now it looks like the Note won't be released until "Q1 2012", which is bloody annoying. My N900 is slowly dying, and i'd rather it had a dignified retirement than have to stretch all the way to the end of March at the very worst.
Come on, Samsung, hurry up! |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
if clove are to be believed, you'd better start saving your pennies. You can pre-order at link below for a guide price of £600

that's the price of an i7 laptop  |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Looks like it's multitouch, with Wacom tech inside. Which kinda explains cost and buttons on pen.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
This thingy is very tempting i must say. I've been sticking with Nokia for so long but now i'm starting to lose faith (maybe i've lost all of it already). I'm still happy with n900 but i want a new device and since it's "upgrade" n9 will have no hw keyboard, it's only logical that i'll look at other no hwkb devices too.. I must say i hate iOS, android, etc. cuz they all look stupid compared to maemo but maybe i'll get used to it.
I haven't made my decision yet but if n9 won't have flash support than i think it's (never tought i'd say this) bye bye Nokia. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
My N800 will finally be replaced.

the guy at the store I got my N9 today told me they are going to have it next week.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
I don't like the single, mono speaker. Why? There should be plenty of space inside...
|
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Agreed.
They should've put two stereo loudspeakers on the front-face of the device but on the edges. It's quite innovative, like how the Sprint Arrive (aka HTC 7 PRO). Plus they should've knock off the navigational buttons, and eliminate as much bezel as possible... so they could've made it a 5" screen on a 5.3" phone. In contrast, an iPhone 4S has a 3.5" screen but its a 5.06" phone. Anyone know if it has NFC? Some say yes. Others say no. Quite often I see "NFC Optional" does it mean its in devices for select areas? For instance, Samsung sold the international i9000 Galaxy S in South America but also included a TV-module inside. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Since Ice Cream Sandwich has stylus support, new devices with stylus should follow. I might refrain from buying the Note and wait for something better, like a 7* pen-enabled, usb-enabled, gsm-tablet, which would be perfect for my needs.
Or, wait for usb activated kernel in the Tab and hope that ICS might make styli work better on its surface. Or, wait and buy the Note when it's less expensive :) |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
I'm seriously considering buying this phone/tablet but I'm a little worried about one-handed use because of its size. Are there any videos of somebody dialling a number with one hand on this thing?
Lack of a keyboard is also a minus but I guess the extra large keys will help. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
What about this as a keyboard:
http://www.chill-innovation.com/prod...22&products=45 I'm considering this phone or galaxy ii or nexus together with this wireless keyboard. |

One thing I like about the iPhone 4S is that I can by a Nuu or Boxwave keyboard which essentially converts it into the N900. Blasphemy, I know. I would buy something similar for the Note in a heartbeat. |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
wow, yes, these are nice too. I thought I saw an n900 picture when I first saw the pictures :)
Maybe we can urge these keyboard manufactures to come up with some sort of generic keyboard+phone holder for all kinds of phone models... |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
As I don't think I will be able to test this device, I cut a piece of leather (5mm thick) with the Galaxy Note dimensions, and I does not seem uncomfortable in the pocket (I can not 'feel' the weight though).
I did the same for the Galaxy Nexus and that one really seems the perfect size. It is almost the same height, just 'thinner'. I'm still deciding... |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Ha! I did the exact same with same two device dimensions, but using thick (corrugated) cardboard.
after a week of looking at both, I'm quite happy with the note's size - even holding it up to my ear no longer seems so stupid as it first did :-) the note is supposed to go on sale in UK tomorrow (2nd Nov) so I'll have a trip to Carphone Warehouse to see if they've got a demo model to play with .... |
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
To test width I opened my n900 keyboard and held it in portrait. Is that near the width of the Note?

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
I'm in love with this phone. Great screen, Great hardware, what else??? It would be a good replacement for the N900, for sure!!!

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
Samsung Galaxy Note is quite impressive. Like the Dell Streak, it is very spiritual successor to the Nokia N810. I admire the Note's design. It's pretty much what the Nokia Internet Tablets should've aimed for since the N810. I felt they went too phone and mainstream with N900's design. I was hoping it would expand upon the perfection of the N810. Now the only major things missing from Galaxy Note is obviously the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, full body kick-stand, slide cover for the camera, microSD card slot needs to be out on the side, and MeeGo Harmattan / Tizen OS.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note
I had 4 Communicators(Hinges broke on all of them, 9000's and 9200's) and swore off Nokia for years. Came back for the N900 which they Orphaned. Then the Meego BS. Having their head up their Azz on Symbian.
Now Windows 7 mobile, Really Nokia! Really! Good freakin' Bye Nokia! Don't let the door hit you in the Azz on your way out! I'm bettin' you'll never see another Dime of mine in the next few Lifetimes. Hello Samsung! How yoo doin'! |

What is even better is having both. Like on the N900. Too bad the N900 doesn't have a 5.3 inch screen and dual core 1.4GHz processors! |
