Code:

Can you edit your post and put the output in a code box, so it can be read easily.
When posting output from terminal best to ...

'code' text '/code'
Replace the ' for square brackets

==================

Well something is keeping your CPU at C0
This will cause hot device and poor battery.

Are you sure there's not a process in 'top' as there seems to be a good few things running in your powertop output.

So this is entirely software problem, right?
Shall i try a reflash then?
Because i approached one service centre and they said it is having IC pin shortage and cannot be repaired:confused:
But i think the technician dont know much and he was just bluffing...

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

It's a hell of a lot better output than before your reflash.

Did you do a full reflash?
Have you re-installed anything?
Have you restored any backups?

What's up with the camera?

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

I havent bothered to read all the posts, but my N900 runs much hotter in 3G mode than 2G mode, I remeber from one of the first posts that you were just using the browser...

If I download large files, it gets warm..so.. meh..As long as it isnt at like 55-60 degrees dont worry about it I say!

Also, the temp in conky is batterytemp, replace the battery?

No, nothing... fresh OS; just QCPU frequency and rootsh..

Camera is not functioning. While opening it is kind of crashing saying
'Operation failed'
and thats when the Lens cover is open...
Otherwise it will stay in stand by mode as usual......

No it wouldnt have been me using thet browser stuff....
For me , even in idle stage it will be like 38-40.
While using 2G it is hitting 53... thats really bad right?
Battery cahrging on top of this is showing max temp-58
Tried with my friends BL-5J battery, no improvement then also

Is there any single step test to find it out wether this is due to hardware shorts or software probs.....?????

Maybe hardware damage then.

Could try underclocking.

Camera failed is to do with fcam drivers search on the forum for repair method.

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

Took it to nokia service center.. They are asking around $150 ... saying board should be replaced
Shall i repair it or tey getting a fresh one?
If so where can i get a new one from????

pichlo 2012-10-16 12:00

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

$150 seems to be a standard price; just yesterday there was someone reporting the same quote from Nokia Service Center.

From casual reading your replies, I would say try another battery. It looks like your phone is fine on idle, but starts heating up when it draws a bit more power. Maybe the battery is on its last leg. If it were a more serious hardware problem like shortened pins, your device would not have worked at all.

Also, it seems to me that your perception of "hot" may be different from the rest of us. My phone tends to get up to about 43C when I am downloading a lot of files in modRana, for example. It is not what I would call "burning hot" though.

hilalhmuhammed 2012-10-17 07:04

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

No I tried changing the battery.... Still the same prob.....
Iam used to the heating up while downloading from torrents, but this isnt exactly same... It is getting peaked above 55 . I have added the temp variations up above in this thread

don_falcone 2012-10-17 07:55

Re: My N900 rapidly overheating...

Check if it's not due to high CPU load on idle, and if yes then check your word dictionaries are corrupt. At least _i_ had this issue.
