Could someone post a screenshot of the All Albums view (or equivalent) in the N9 media player please? It's something I use a lot on the N900...

The native browser's results.

here are a couple of pics:

if no album art is found, there is an icon made from the name of the album:

Albums list. Quick scroll between letters by dragging on right edge. Very smooth :)

EDIT: This is on N950, but N9 looks identical in this case AFAIK.

Re: N9 is here! Personal experiences wanted

OK today i played with both the 16 and 64 gb N9's for about 30 mins which was all i needed to realise what i needed to know.

The 16gb had 1.1 meego harmattan and i played with the menu structre as much as possible.
Neither were able to make calls or browse but they both had a full signal strength showing for some reason.

I found the swipe feature rather slow but it took a while to get used to the capacative screens as i am used to the N900 so i think a little is my own doing for the slowness.

Now a strange thing i found was neither could actually display cpu type or the amount of ram in the "about" section which i found rather strange, there is actually no mention of ram anywhere in the device at all so it is not possible to even know how much ram there is installed, ok we know it is 512 but would be nice to know.

The 64gb showed as having meego 1.2 harmatan and was very slow in comparison to the 16gb version this showed very much in my opinion,
and as the 16gb it was not able to show ram or cpu details only that it was a 1ghz cpu.

I am NOT impressed at all and one thing i do know is neither were anything like the video from the russian that seemed to be not only a lot lot faster but had a larger menu with more components.

The models on show were blue pink and black and both 16gb and 64 gb were also in black !! please note this as it is being said that black is only 64gb, not true.

I want to know what software version will come with the public release before i can be sure but if this is it then for me no way i will buy one.

My HONEST opinion is the N900 is far far better !!!!!!!.

Anyone wants to know something specific then just fire away.

Thanks for the write-up. I think you have some details wrong (including amount of RAM in an N9, which is 1GB rather than 512MB).

Not sure what it is that you don't like compared to N900 other than general complaints of slowness. What's slow, exactly?

Also: if you're in the UK, where are you seeing an N9 in the flesh? Are they in the shops yet?

Serious question: why would you want an iPhone if you have an N9? I'm sure there are valid reasons; I just can't think of any.

For logistical reasons i will not say where i was but i had something like 15 N9's all lined up for me and i also had a long talk with the Nokia staff and some very interesting stuff came out.

They are VERY aware of the 3500 jobs going and the plant that has been shut down and are somewhat worried if they will even have a job this time next year !.

They ALL know of Elop and talk very bad of him and all seemed to have very little knowledge about what was actually going on inside Nokia the company they actually work for.

The N9 will be in the shops by the very latest 12 October, ALL the N9's i played with were not for sale.

They all know WP is coming but have very little knowledge of what if when or even how it will come about, really they are told very little and that does suprise me.

Really? The swipe on my n950 as well as that on the n9 I've seen was fast if I flicked fast, and smooth if I wanted to show off.
I've never faced it being slow.
The only problem I faced with swipe was initially I didn't realize that a swipe needs to start from the edge of the display to be recognized as a swipe. If I swipe within the window, it's a swipe gesture for the app.

To each his own.

I've found that for most of my needs, the N950 (and thus the N9) will be perfect.
For the geeky side of things, there's enough developers to make it all that the n900 is and more.

The only reason to have a dumbphone in addition to a smartphone is because dumbphones typically tend to have tremendous battery life and excellent range.

How does the iphone4 qualify for either of these??

I asked them all what device they actually preffered including the N9 and you know what they said....the N8 !!!!.

Why i said????? that does not have meego, they said because it is better all round than the N9.

Now when 8 staff members tell you this you begin to question your own thoughts trust me on that one.

Listen mate i dont give a stuff what you think or listen to anything you got to say, when you have been in the business as long as me then talk !!!.

I have worked with Nokia direct for many years now and even though many have now left i can still pull a few strings.

Ah I may have read your post a bit hastily, I apologize.

I don't actually know what kind of old software or prototypes were on display where you were. All the production devices should have 1Gb memory and MeeGo 1.2 harmattan version 1.2011.34-1 (Or later). What version did the ones on display have? I've never seen or even heard about any called MeeGo 1.1 Harmattan before. That PR can't have been updated since may.

EDIT: Nevermind, my first post was correct: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=46

I cannot answer this one, all i can tell you is what i seen with my own eyes.

The 16gb versions all had 1.1 meego and the 2 64gb versions had 1.2 meego.

I am not in the habit of making things up and if anyone doubts me then i suggest you do the same trip i did today.

I counter your anecdotal evidence with mine: Every Nokia employee I've met who's worked with an N9 and a Symbian/WP7 phone has gushed about the awesomeness of the N9 as compared to the others.

Hold up, what do you mean 1gb memory?.

They all told me 512 installed, i am confused as well because as i said none of the devices will show the full spec when you get into the about section.

The swipe does indeed only work from the very edges of the screen and not in the middle.

You can swipe every way all sides but you must do it from the edges.

I agree with you here as i could also not find a fault as such, everything i did was solid in all fairness to the device.

In answer to the software versions, yes there is a version number but i got carried away with the staff and forgot to write them down.

Just take it from me the 16gb are 1.1 and the 64gb are 1.2 versions.

ps: didn't you say you were leaving TMO a while back? Oh well, we're all used to disappointment these days......

Funny today are we? New name and new clothes, the rest is the same: Will never be finished, will never attract anyone except a handful of die hards, same Linux. In essence nothing but a rip-off off Jolicloud and/or WebOS, but a very poor rip-off.

Anyway, that wasn't my point. My point was that the N9 runs Harmattan, Maemo 6 essentially, whatever happens to MeeGo is irrelevant wrt the N9.

Yes i think you are right but why was the 64gb version with 1.2 on it slower in comparison to the 16's?.

I noticed a slight lag when waiting for the about information to be displayed, more so on the 64gb versions.
