I rather like Panorama on the N900. An N9 version would be very good to have. Not, if I recall, a community-developed app but Nokia.

Any of you downloaded and installed the app "recorder" from the OVI store to the N9?

I installed the program and I can use it to record voice. However, when I played back the recorded voice, I notice some background noise like "z z z z z".

I am not sure if this is a common problem?

Anyone have tried that?

Thank you!

Hi everyone.

There is now a spotify client available on the Nokia store. It uses libspotify (official library) so it's fully featured, even offline playlists, and requires a premium subscription to spotify. (The app itself is free)

Personally I think it's looks better than the official symbian client, and the only feature I've missied so far is using the controls on a bluetooth headset to control playback.

You have to install it through dev mode, i managed to make it work when i found instructions from MeegoSweden

In terminal first enable wget

http://www.meegosweden.com/forum/30-...-anvander-wget

1. Start terminal
2. devel-su
password = rootme
3. apt-get update && apt-get install wget

installation

1. devel-su
password=rootme
2. develsh
3. wget goo.gl/CDYFK goo.gl/3xLso
4. dpkg -i libircclient-qt_0.5.0.9_armel.deb
5. dpkg -i irc-chatter_0.1.1_armel.deb

http://www.meegosweden.com/forum/44-...r/Page-6#17421

Its in swedish but just use the google translate if you need help :) Also note that I am no dev and have actually no idea how to use terminal, but managed to make it work with those instructions, hope it helps.

It's missing chat functionality, otherwise it's on point.

In case anybody cares, I'm going to be sticking short videos of different games for the N9 on YouTube. Here's Samurai 2.

I will also eventually add applications to the mix.

https://www.youtube.com/knownokia

I'll happily take requests of anything available in the Nokia Store or external repositories.

Tried the dropbox app works very good. seems it does not create the needed folders to download into, so if you create the folders manually it works great. I downloaded from the site on my n9 and it installed just fine.

Nokia City Scene available (by Nokia Beta Labs)

Seems to run quite snappy, at least some of the apps on N9 are really well done!

Quick comparison:

MeeSpot looks better and feels faster

Official client supports local files but I can't seem to make a "mixed" playlist.

Official client registers control buttons on bluetooth headset, so you don't have to get your phone out to change tracks.

Does anyone know of an alternate mail client for the N9? I've had claws-mail on my n900 for ages and it blows away the client that's built in. Perhaps I've been spoiled by claws, but I really don't dig the builtin client.

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

No other email client as of yet. Honestly i think the built in client is excellent. Its very finger friendly and is one of the best HTML rendering clients I have used.

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

I agree, it's pretty, but I find it lacks useful functionality. It's true that programs like claws aren't terribly 'finger friendly' but they are full featured and not too resource hungry. Hopefully we'll get a claws or similar port to this handset.

gpodder! If you love podcasts, it is a must!

And then, Battery Usage. Pretty handy to see, what is going on.

I also installed irssi in lack of a port of X-Chat yet. And I'm also missing Jabber and maybe an identi.ca/status.net client. But I'll be patient for now. The N9 is a great device with what I think is the best touchscreen UI I have used so far.

Can I somehow set MeeCast as my weather in the Feed screen?

I would like to add a additional hint: ClipMan (there is also a free version at ovi)

Very useful. I store there parts of SMS messages I use a lot. So I don't need to type the same sentences at the virtual keyboard every time I use it. (I love the N9 swipe multitasking btw.!) :D

Edit: Perhaps we could collect all tipps in a list at the first post?

Search this page for "e-mail" & "email" & you'll see some clients being worked on as part of the CDP.

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

There _has_ to be a way to automatically change profiles on this phone. On the N900 I used alarmed, which worked fantastically. Is there nothing like this
available yet for the N9??

All that really needs to happen is a little dbus:

dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=com.nokia.profiled /com/nokia/profiled com.nokia.profiled.set_profile string:"silent"
which works if you execute it via terminal.

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

om. how do you change the snooze time.

my n900 was 10minutes when you tap snooze. this n9 is 30 minutes when you tap snooze!

mnnm 2011-10-28 06:29

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

when you set an alarm in clock app, press 'more options' and you will see snooze time. 5 mins is the shortest snooze time you can select.

ceroberts75 2011-10-28 07:04

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

tx for that. i dont use the clock alarms. just the calendar for apts. so it you have an alarm go off 15 minutes before...and it is a 30minute snooze....lol...u get it

There is new official Spotify client (v. 0.1.18-1) in Store!!

New features are Spotify Radio, friend browsing and new releases. These improvements make this app much more interesting. :)

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

Hi all, I come from Android so feeling a little difficult.
Is there a battery indicator that is readily visible instead of clicking on an app to view how much juice is left in my phone?

Also is there a wifi, brightness, auto-rotate widget kind of thing that I can use in one click?.

dolphins 2011-12-02 11:35

Re: Top Apps for Nokia N9

For the battery thing, you just need to leave the app open and then flick to the task manager anytime you want to see it.

the other things you describe are also easily done, save brightness which is automatic
remember though the N9 has no widgets of any kind, surely you must have known that before you bought it, but i don't know what you mean by auto-rotate (the phone already does so for the most part and you can find a tweak here to enable app list in landscape as well)

There's a way to turn-off the auto-brightness & manually adjust it in finer-grained way to suit you.
I think it's in this thread here, but if not, it will be added in the coming days
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=78598

I think there's an app which allows you to enable/disable auto-rotate.
But it's also very easy to do the tweak yourself...
Pretty sure it's also mentioned in that thread, if not, it will be soon.

I would recommend Nokia N9 FM Radio. It is the first real FM Radio in OVI Store. And I would say most popular as well.

Try this out from http://store.ovi.com/content/262564 or check out UI video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zWbnWs7NJQ

Records sound. Nuff said. Dictaphone style thing.

What are your recommended downloads for the N9?
