Re: [ANNOUNCE] CPUTweak w/ Configurator Program & Effective Battery Saving

i've just installed this as well and i've had to change reg to 750 as my n900 flips out with SR on above that. is there anyway of testing to see if it is installed correctly and running (VFS values)?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CPUTweak w/ Configurator Program & Effective Battery Saving

still prefer batterypatch
it is more stable. plus i don't wanna have a headache changing profiles
just wanna simple patch that saves my battery like batterypatch

i'm not complaining here
but thanks for your effort ammyt

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CPUTweak w/ Configurator Program & Effective Battery Saving

had some major reboot problems at first so changed voltages in starving and lowered the max in reg to 750 (for SR). been stable for a few hours so far which is a great improvement on the every 5 min reboots before. Brilliant ammyt :D

as stoobs said, :D i used to have karam's batterypatch on but reflashed my device so tried this to see what it's like.
you may get the xterm problem when you remove batterypatch but pusak has already covered this.
i'm getting some really good results with this using life doubler profile and power v48.

So sad :( i have to remove this tweak for my device....i didn't say its not gud tho but i have tested all profiles (life doubler is the best) but still when my phone is in ideal (locked) it always reboot after a few minutes....after reboot this notifications came out....

"Unexpected Reboot Accour...Your Custom Kernel Is Not Loading"

i have to reboot again  just to reload kernel power back....btw i dont install karam patches :p after i have re-flash my device...

@ammyt....

maybe you should add another profile....default profile....so people can go back to default should if they don't likes other profiles or just having random reboot like mine....

Hahaha this is pretty funny
actually it's pointless to make 2 batterypatches
i didn't see any differences between this and between karam's batterypatch except that batterypatch from karam is moooore stable than this one

only names names names pretty nice names [Blood Kain, Optimum..etc

and i also prefer karam's batterypatch because it is simpler more editable and more effective

ammyt you mistakes on your script
you don't actually need the line that checks for proximity sensor

and one more thing
what about if i unlocked the screen using the power button not the lock button
heh this will make you use underclock profile while it supposed to use overclock

you didn't solve this problem as karam did
i recommend every one using batterypatch to stay using it

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CPUTweak w/ Configurator Program & Effective Battery Saving

one feature req.
custom profile option.. to make up ur own profile..
select which profile and freqs i want with upper and lower limit customization for lock and unlock and with ability to disable sigstop.. i dunno why but killing trackercgf slows down the locking/unlocking precess.. annoying for calls.. especially when i have a lock code on..

and it has a conflict with battery patch..
i'm not sure about kp users but its there with non-kp batpatch

**edit..
smart reflex is unstable for me after 750.. thats why a edit option would be nice..

it deletes the /bin on uninstall.. thats the downside..
conflict with battery patch..
and one profile but editable..
and uninstalled.. i'll wait for next version..

@br1zer
i'm sorry if i was rude but my point was : that there is no point releasing another batterypatch if some one wants to watch HD videos then he applies freemangordon patch and edit the profile him self
no need to make many profiles

Update added to post #1

ammyt 2011-10-12 18:09

Re: [GUI ULTIMATE] CPUTweak DCS Patches & More -Your Full KP Control Centre-

@fahad and @all who requested it, there are now 2 new sections in the GUI, a section for "building your own" and a section to choose from your built profiles for the lock/unlock.

ammyt 2011-10-12 18:14

Re: [GUI ULTIMATE] CPUTweak DCS Patches & More -Your Full KP Control Centre-

BTW The new dynamic cpu scaling patch is built to work on much more N900s than it used to be, far more stable

I've been off of this thread for a while so I'm trying to read some posts back to catch up with what was happening...
@cordy
The patch will hopefully work now with no reboots, made it a lot less stressing on the N900s out there. If you face any reboots, please notify me!

Dude, I hate arguments, so if you don't know whatchur talkin' 'bout, then fk off...

Sorry for being offensive, but that's the goddamn truth. Karam's first "battery script" was about only changing the vfs_cache_pressure to 10 when locked and 100 when unlocked.

I soon then released a battery patch which did the above plus dynamically reducing the cpu clock + voltage when locked, and bumping them back when unlocked, + pausing greedy processes such as browserd, calender-ui... when locked which save humongous battery life, and then resuming them when unlocked.

Karam then kindly contacted me about including these scripts in his battery patch, and I was like "WTH I didn't invent these, I just packed them up :) use them!." Then he officialised his patch to be batterypatch etc etc. Effectively, I had made the battery scripts for him.

Karam is a valuable jewel of the maemo community, and he fought lots of critisism when releasing his cgroups patch, + he's syrian, which probably means that he's one of my relatives from some ancient ancestors of me so I didn't mean to deteriorate his reputation in what I said, it's just what it is.

So, you're neither karam nor ammyt, and simply know nothing, so you know what to do.

Yo smartyass, read my upper post, as the same thing goes to you too. If you actually examined the scripts, or the old thread, you would actually know that the proximity line was added in the script for future uses, it isn't enabled. And all what you had to do to "customise" is to edit the /usr/local/bin/overclock file and add your "customisations." This is done by a GUI with many other features than that so, as my pal Estel says:
Shut up, or Go To Find Out before posting crap.

Re: [GUI ULTIMATE] CPUTweak DCS Patches & More -Your Full KP Control Centre-

New Version 0.3 Uploaded:
*Fixes miniature UI bugs
*Fixes stability issues (ULV)
*Requires you setting something

Install the .deb, open it, then:

Ready Made Profiles:
choose ready-made profiles to use the built in profiles, i.e. Optimum, Blood Kain, Life Doubler, and their HD versions. Remember that HD versions bump up the performance a bit to comply with 720p playback/recording requirements. All battery patches will be installed.

Configure Patches
Lets you choose between the dynamic cpu patch, sigstop patch, and the vfs_cache_pressure patch. Note that choosing the dynamic cpu patch lets you load a profile you choose when unlocked, and a low power frequency + voltage profile when locked. Note: if you want to set of the in built profiles, i.e. (optimum, life doubler...) when unlocked, you will find them in:
/usr/share/kernel-power-settings/
The best power-saving option I saw is by enabling all the patches with the HD-Life Doubler profile when unlocked.

Build My Own
WARNING: This is in beta status.
It launches a wizard, where you set all the possible frequencies you will want to use, their voltages by a slider, and their dsp rate (up to 600MHz supported) and configures other KP aspects such as SR, up threshold, and sampling rate. Then it saves this profile as "userbuilt" in /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/userbuilt. You can use it later as the active profile with the dynamic cpu patch or anything else.
To do:
Add conguration of all other kernel power values (governor, ignore nice load...etc...)

dude thanks for your update but after installing the latest .deb file it isn't working.

I've just found /usr/bin/CPUTweak calls
sh /home/user/MyDocs/freqs
(...)
sh /home/user/MyDocs/patches
(...)
sh /home/user/MyDocs/build

And those files are located in another place, so I've changed those lines by:
sh /home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/freqs
(...)
sh /home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/patches
(...)
sh /home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/builds

File locations were found using dpkg -L cputweak-dcs

Then it gives more messages:
Nokia-N900:~# CPUTweak
file not found reg
mv: cannot rename '/home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/underclock': No such file or directory
file not found reg
Nokia-N900:~#

Nokia-N900:~# ls /home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/underclock
ls: /home/user/.CPUTweak/scripts/underclock: No such file or directory

('but dpkg -L cputweak-dcs lists the file there, and it was there after installation)
It looks like it has been deleted by CPUTweak program.

Other beta-like unstabilty symptoms:
If I select dynamic cpu scaling patch in selection boxes, it opens a file selector dialog, for a "profile to load when active". What does it mean?.

After selecting one option (patches ) in main menu, and once finished the patch selection, sometimes it returns to main menu then after selecting again patches radio button, it just exits.
