IIR correctly something like: favourite folders or inbox

I cannot find this option anywhere now. Has it been removed from the PR version of the firmware or I'm just blind?

The option is removed for n950 beta2 as well... however if you have no favorite folder then by default fenix goes into inbox so the option was kinda redundant.

yes, but if you have defined favourite folders then how could you notice new messages on them if you have more than one new message?

Could anyone please upload an archive of the default wallpapers? I was playing with MfE sync from Google and decided to reset device for a fresh start. I forgot that it removed the supplied wallpapers, images and music.

Some of them were actually quite nice (I'm a sucker for bokeh), so there is an e-hug™ to anyone who can help me out.

Edit: A kind fellow posted them for me.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Just saw a video that said there's no adobe flash for the n9.
My n900 hasn't been able to play flash video in a while and the connection that the USB/charger plugs into came out of the phone recently. Bought the n900 in the USA and live in Mexico City. NO ONE can touch or repair the phone here. So, I am considering getting the N9 when it comes here. I love my n900 and hope the n9 will be comparable. But, it looks as if it is already severely limited. Any suggestions?? Should I just send my n900 back to the USA for repairs, or go ahead and get the n9 this November when it comes here to Mex?

ATM it's 2.1, BT4's supposedly coming with the 1st update.
Was confirmed to xsacha @whirlpool.net.au, he posted it on his blog
http://www.qtness.com/blog/?p=58
Nokia Australia head management told him several weeks ago.

Excerpt:
Quote:

N9 will never be able to do NFC payments. It is missing critical hardware component called ‘single wire protocol’, which is required for payment security. Nokia hopes instead to use the N9 to introduce NFC and make users aware of its existence and features. One way they are doing this is through the game Angry Birds Magic (packed on the device) which forces you to tap on other N9 to unlock levels.

All of Nokia’s future NFC phones will support payment.

The N9 ships with Bluetooth 2.1 but 4.0 is planned as an update. The update will allow NFC sharing to piggyback over Wifi (through the Bluetooth High Speed protocol).

Wait. SWP for NFC is not dependent on bluetooth, it's a separate chip. But how are they going from 2.1 to 4.0? Drivers have it "crippled" at 2.1 levels but it's capable of more?

I hate to ask such a potentially stupid question, but just wondering.

Possibly a payment system using BT 4.0 instead of NFC ?

No you read the full blog post you'll get better context.
No SWP for N9, as it doesn't have the secure-element.
I've heard it's possible to add secure-element through SIM (if your carrier/bank supports it) or sticker.
But even then it depends on whether Nok. will support that.

I think they'll only support future phones with secure-element embedded.
But they don't seem to have even a vague plan to compete with Google Wallet yet.
They misguidedly seem to think the future with NFC is "elsewhere".
See the comments in particular in this article, there's a telling youtube vid. linked.
http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/...-qt-sdk-update

Maybe they're just not telling us...
But they really need to speak-up soon, if they do have competing scheme planned.

Interesting but IMO BT4 is totally unsuitable for that kind of application.
It has more security holes in it than swiss cheese....
Anyway this is all getting more into the realm of speculation (ala water-cooler thread)

BT4.0 lower energy

However its still not confirmed if N9 will have it. It seems like they removed and maybe replaced it with an old chip. But first specs actually said it was BT4.0 :(

My guess is payment with NFC+ some kind of secframework will be different based on region etc... for example I dont think google wallet will come too northeuropean for long.

In sweden it seems we will have it via simcard.

Tissot from meego forum answers a question about having swype on the N9 here is his post

"Ok guy with a very good track record on finnish mobile phone forum says he has been using swype for some time on retail N9.
FW version: PR1.1 20.2011.39-1_PR_001

You need to enable it from settings. If i understood it right after you have enabled it you can swipe it on or off on the keyboard itself. Like changing the language of the keyboard. "

Here is my reply to his post

My retail Australian N9 64GB currently has 10.2011.34-1.299.1_PR_299.
So that is PR1.1 which is newer than what is currently available.
Possibly a daily build version of PR1.1. (I was told it's weeks away)
So yeah, I've been chatting with a N9 S/W engineer and he told me very vaguely but with certainty that PR1.1 will be released in "some" weeks time. (that could be 2 weeks or could be 8+ weeks I guess) He also mentioned about PR1.2 and that it is coming as well (no time frame) so we should be good for recreating that EPIC PR 1.2 thread here again. :D

1. I hope someone makes a twitpic and imgur sharing plugin soon.
2. Yeah, you can just create apps (icons) for each site. Also, Firefox Mobile and Opera Mobile 11 works perfectly on the N9. So you can try them if you prefer.
3. Yeah. This is dumb also. At least Fennec supports it.

[QUOTE=jakiman;

Unless mine is a dud, no, you can't. I've tries soooo many 720p video files. Mostly main and high profile H264 MKV files. (but some AVI) It can't play them. Well, sound plays but the video plays at around 0.1 fps. (yes 0.1) 450p main and high profile H264 videos does play but it plays very choppy. (it skips frames) It's as if there is zero hw acceleration and it's using the CPU. I will need others to confirm to ensure my N9 is not a dud.

I however could play 450p baseline H264 profile videos without issues and 720p xvid with ac3 audio AVI also played perfectly fine.

Either mine is a dud or this is how it is. Hopefully others will report.

I have no problems connecting to my work exchange server. I'm using it right now with my work emails and it works fine so far. My exchnage server has a policy set to enable security on the phone and that works also. So I end up having to put a 5 digit secure code on my N9. (wish I can disable this) But yeah, work email works and does push notifications also.

Also, all the answers that you want might be in this thread.

On the front bottom left underneath the display. It's near impossible to see that it has one when it's not lit up. But it is there. So I hope someone can take advantage of this and make it as useful as how it in on the N900.

I have asked this to the N9 developer who's in the camera/video/audio middleware s/w team. He said he only does the camera part and will ask the guy who sits next to him who does the video playback part when he goes into work. (so will need to wait till Monday I guess) He's going to check if it is supposed to be able to handle Main profile H264. (High profile is a definite no go I believe) But he said he is sure that N9 supports 720p H264 Base profile.

1) Some guy on Twitter said that Nokia said it would be included in the upcoming PR - take this with a grain of salt... it is Twitter after all :)

2) I'd create icons for each site... if I could create folders. I'll definitely be giving Firefox a go later on... hopefully it's not slow like on the N900.

3) Phew... definitely need to try out Firefox then. Not being able to save passwords definitely is a strange one...

I am not sure I understand you correctly, but when you have favorite folders, fenix shows the inboxes of whatever mail service you set up, plus the favorite folders. The count boxes next to them indicates the number of new messages received.

I haven't actually tried it (being european and all), but in "Accounts" when you go to the list to add a new one the desfription under Goolgle says "Mail, chat and calls"

add:

If i click to add a google account the description on the next page is a little longer ans says "Chat and make internet calls with Goole Talk. Use Gmail in Mail application."

No mention of SMS.

And to preempt the questions about google calendar, people should use either caldav account or mail for exchange. Not sure which one is best so if someone knows please tell us.

I sync my contacts and mail with MfE, and my calendars with CalDAV. As far as I know and tried, MfE will only sync your main calendar while CalDAV allows you to sync multiple ones.
