if I had a camera here i'd make you a video. i just crashed angry birds 4 times in a row swiping it away from the side. err wait, so if it thinks it's in landscape mode, the side swipe can close it? maybe that's why. i'll experiment some more.
-edit-
Yeah **** I can't belive I'm accidentally closing apps for like 3 months because of that. I changed the bug to a feature request. It definitely shouldn't be closing apps when I swipe from right to left if I'm not holding the phone sideways (but the app is locked in landscape). It's debatable what it should do if I am.

really important!?!? Are you ****ing serious? Your talking about one app so far that need some lib cause you dont hve time rewrite you app. And then saying nokia should enabled it? Do you realise this may take manpower from nokia for stuff that is WAY more important for endusers!?

for example:

improve browser
better video support
full copy/paste support
mgnifier glass working everywhere
fixed bugs in firefox

your request is NOT important. Yes your conky app was good on n900 but personally I think you should use your time learning QML instead of argue about that library on bugzilla. Just wonder how much time you and nokia engineers usex arguing about it so far...

we geeks has to see it in bussines/enduser perspective also. Not only what we want. Again thefe is way more important stuff to be fixed and we all know the team has lowbudget and even if some lib could b enabled easy this takes times in big organisation. And even its unlikely it could break.

Hi Mike,
When they disabled something for no reason they can think of, I can ask they turn it back on. If they're too busy improving the web browser or something, FINE. They didn't say that. They said "it's probably too late". So, the bug stays open until they decide if it's "really to late". The fact remains that without aegis, I can enable the missing library, so the ball is in their court. I don't see any arguing, so why don't you go find something else to rant about?
Thanks,
Lance

well if you have problem with aegis go open mode....

Creamy Goodness 2011-12-15 17:30

Re: FYI Nokia made us a new public bugtracker, so use it!

Open mode is only available on PR 1.1 for something like the last 4 days now, it took a long time to get the required kernel sources from Nokia. It even has some bugs, and it's not exactly easy or safe for the average user to go reflashing the kernel.
I guess I will try that on the n950 asap, but even if everything works I am not optimistic that Nokia will enable the missing extension. From the comments on my bug report it sounds like no new features will be added to the N9 at this point. I don't know how you guys complaining about that bug report get mad about anything other than Nokia selling us a device and refusing to support it within a month.

Re: FYI Nokia made us a new public bugtracker, so use it!

If you've not done so, everyone vote for bug #198!

This is a particularly nasty bug, that's been affecting many in very dramatic ways.
It has to be in PR1.2 or preferably sooner, but there's still some doubt that it will be.

See the devs comments here....
https://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/sho...cgi?id=198#c25
He is sending an email to the head of Nokia Harmattan, but he also wants us to vote!

Felipe Contreras explained in his blog why it works the way it does.*
(He was the guy that got swipe-to-close squeezed into 1.1)
But yes it's debatable whether the current implementation is ideal, possibly not overall.
Anyway they say they're "fixing" this now....

Please, kindly add your votes to Bug 378 I posted 10 days ago. There are only two votes to it and it's not enough to get Nokia's attention.

Much appreciated.

Has anyone come across a really nasty IMAP bug.
I'm all of a sudden seeing it thrash my imap server.
Thankfully my server has the bandwidth and cpu/setup for it not to be even noticed, but it saturates my 4Mbit internet at home totally.
And it never gives up...[disabling the email account it does stop :-( ] (1 week of terrible internet until I discovered the culprit, never thought it would have been my n9!) [gmail works fine, only the custom imap setup]

Appears there's an even older one, I've merged #387 into it:

Here they explain exactly how they intend to modify behavior (see comment #10)
Seems like it may not be a complete fix... :(

Sounds like it could be #198 striking again.

Cheers for that!
Sounds very similar, with the after effects the same as well.
A factory reset and it's working ok at the moment.. Looks like it may come back again. Hope PR 1.2 is out soon then!

Catbus, voted for 762 - noticed this too, and it's against expectation to just have the icon sit there and not show anything - despite it showing blue during network connection buildup; just based on that I would expect it to show blue during data transfer.
Also, it should / could show signal strength.

I wonder if anybody encountered this problem with the camera application on Nokia N950 with Harmattan 1.2 Beta (3.2012.02-6_PR_RM680) ?

When accessing the camera app, the screen becomes black (a slight clicking sound coming from the optics) and after a few seconds the app displays a message that prompts me to close or continue.

Se attached imagine.

When clicking on the Yes button, the app closes, another click from the optical system is heard (when in a silent room).

The camera it'self works fine, when using the CameraPro app from the store, but the native app won't start event the device is rebooted several times.

Anyways, try to take advantage of this, judging from past Nokia supportSac Lancel Soldes we have about a year to get them to fix everything. You can also put feature requests (enhancements) into it. Just try not to annoy the poor Nokia employees reading it with too much junk.

Before I create a bug, i just wanted to know: is anybody else having problems swiping down (to close)? It works for me, but not 100%. Sometimes instead it just shows the top bar being clicked (the dropdown menu does not open).
Is this a genuine bug or a problem with my device? FWIW, it happens mostly when the current app is busy.

similar situation here, N9 16gb PR1.2 Central EU...
I´d suggest to contact the dev of Swipe Manager app at Store in order to update the app so we could adjust actual swipes personally...

..and that´s what I´m gonna do now...

Hey Guys,

I send a request on https://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1123 because I was not sastify with the fix they did for the "Stop & Snooze". I suggested a new design as you see in this post. This design will prevent users from hitting the wrong button when they are half awaked.

Please vote for my fix if you want to see this design in the next update ! :)

Actually the problem with your design is the tiny buttons. IMO that is also not easy to hit while sleepy. I think a betterdesig would be to have a large area above the TIME as SNOOZE button and a large are below it as the STOP button. This will help in preventing wrong button press as well as missed presses.

I disagree. the important thing is not the size of the button, but by how much you can misclick without toutching the wrong button.
now compare the distance "middle of button" - "border of other button" on the two designs, and you can see that with smaller buttons they actually need less precision (it doesn't matter if you push two or three time the inactive zone, as long as you end up clicking the good one).

Note that a vertical design with more space between the buttons would do as well.

Was the public tracker closed round about now?
Was there even a public tracker like we've had for Maemo6x?

There is a public bug tracker at https://bugs.maemo.org/. It's still open for community software and the website, but not for Nokia software. I'm not sure when it was closed for Nokia software.
