Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
@l32606 - If you want your patches merged in CSSU, it is a good idea to join #maemo-ssu IRC (and stay there) and talk with MohmmadAG, as he is CSSU maintainer/administrator and has the rights to push MRs. On the side note maybe you'll have to rebase your MR on the top of last arcean's work once it is pushed.
BTW is .deb on first post compiled using code you requested to be merged in CSSU? |

I didn't update the .deb on first post after my requesting merge cause I'm not sure if it is proper. you know, not a right way:D should i do that? |

I mean I don't known if it's right that I keep updating the deb package on first post. So I just modified and requested to be merged in CSSU and don't release .deb compiling using the code I requested to be merged in CSSU. It is just tested by myself these days. |

While we are requesting this to be included in CSSU, I have experience the lock to be displayed in portrait mode occasionally. I am not sure whether its because of the angle or something. But if you hold the phone at 120 degrees and press the power button i could see the lock screen displayed in portrait mode. I am not sure whether anyone has experience it. Can anyone test it out
This is not to take away the good work done done by I32606. attached is the image |

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Only issue I can report with this modded HD is that portrait orientation lock does not survive a reboot and I would like to have an option to remove orientation lock icon from top status bar without using Powatool.
Other than that - absolutely no problems and I use it all the time since announcement. |

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
I think this version of hildon-desktop doesn't respond time after time and sometimes I can't scroll in task view. Just reverted to cssu version, lets see if I will experience those problems in it as well.
Thanks for great job to the dev. |
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
really sad not to see any developments on this...

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Dear sir,how are you doing?I downloaded the package for the hildon desktop and used xt parameters you listed.unfortunately it isn't going through.I reupdated my cssu recently and the portrait mode is not working and I couldn't find the orientation lock either,I tried using the cssu feature for force portrait mode but its not working. Can you help me on how to enable this in the hildon desktop.I already downloaded your package. Thanks

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Thank you, this works.

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
For the record, if this is ONLY 10 or so lines of code, I see no reason why other people can't add support for this into the current hildon-desktop packages.
Has anyone done that? I don't mind figuring out how to properly use git and see if I can adapt this to the current version of HD code and figure out how to do all the git merge request voodoo - if no one else is doing it...? (Kinda hoping someone else is so I don't feel obligated to do it, since there's so many other things I want to do relating to programming+N900...) |
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
glad to see finally an interest in developing this..tks mentalist..while your at it could you try to fix the reboot bug?..its really anoying and messes up this great app.

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
here is hildon-desktop supporting portrait mode lock, build using latest arcean's h-d repo:
https://gitorious.org/~arcean/commun...don-desktop-17 Please test and report if anything is KO, to be fixed before inclusion in next CSSU. @arcean - I saw you did not request merge, are there any problems outstanding? |

On the other hand it seems that tasknav needs a little attention too, hopefully next week will have time to tweak it. |
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Well, having problems with the update of other apps, i just run apt-get install hildon-desktop and everything ok.

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
could someone please share hildon-desktop_2.2.142-18, I get upgraded in x-terminal, but can not find the package, as I can think of two other packet-gles1.2 preenv and libdsl-gles1.2-1, but I can not upgrade, some solution

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
working fine for me, thanks this should put less stress on cpu.

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
I would be so happy to see that the the n900 community officially supports locking to portrait mode.
The "bug" I created in February 2011 was recently resolved as WONTFIX so I am happy to see that there is still progress despite this. See: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11950 |
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Thanks so much for the work on locking portrait mode. I am looking forward to seeing this ability in the CSSU.
More Info: Inability to lock portrait mode has been a big "bug" for me since I got my n900 in 2010! See Bug 11950: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11950 Which has been left as: Quote:

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
well imo, only as a user, i love this hd..when i lock the hd in portrait the button says «landscape orientation locked», maybe it would be better to just say «orientation locked»..and when i reboot with hd locked in portrait, on top of a table, it boots in landscape, but if i turn it to portrait it stays imediately locked in portrait mode..so...besides this minor issues...awsome work!..hope it gets fast to cssu testing as it obviously gives a dependencies error in xterm(with latest cssu testing installed of course)..

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
I've come across slight problem i've installed this but i cant use separate wallpaper for landscape and portrait which i was able to do with hildon desktop used in cssu is there any way we can both features so we get portrait lock and separate wallpaper for both portrait and landscape! Please!
|
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
of course you cant..that feature only appeared with latest cssu hd upgrade..if you install this .deb you are actually downgrading..we are supposed to test the portrait lock feature and hope it can be soon included in an cssu upgrade in near future..for now you have to choose..either portrait lock or portrait and landscape separate wallpapers...:)

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Oh well atleast its in the works so its all about wait i'll just wait! Just hope its available sooner than later!
|
Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
yeah..thought this would be included in latest upgrade, but it wasnt, maybe some technical complication..or cssu didnt find it worth it..i dunno..waiting as well..

Re: [Announce]Hildon desktop package which supports lock in portrait mode
Is there some way I can help generate some more momemtum for locking portait mode being included in the CSSU?
Looking forward to the next CSSU release. At any rate, I installed locking portrait mode successfully with instructions from the first post (Adding Thanks to l32606). Looks like instructions are there to revert back to the CSSU version if need be too, though I haven't tried. |
