Sorry, I am busy for a couple of months now (vacation in Thailand etc) so no updates before July. Source code is available in github so any developer is free to continue my work.

Development will resume later. I still use Siilihai on desktop daily and have some nice features already planned.

What's the difference between Tapatalk and Sillihai? Just curious as i see that the initial request was Tapatalk?

Re: Siilihai Web Forum Reader

tapatalk is... well tapatalk. Siilihai usage is mostly for downloading posts or subscribing to a thread I think, with is great if you want offline usage. With tapatalk support implemented I think we can use it as a replacement for Tapatalk. Right now it depends on parser scripts (easy to make using included parser maker), to load forum and msgs. I have tried making one but failed miserably due to complex forum layout :(

I've just unistalled mine, it doesn't seem to work, it's still a mess, needs more work into it, It gets stuck right after the Login Screen..... Thanx for the effort though.

Tapatalk requires the forum to have special plugin installed to the forum software. Siilihai doesn't need anything done to the server side but requires a parser to be written for client. None of the forums I read supports Tapatalk currently so it's the only option.

Hi, yep it's July and my vacation's over (could have lasted longer). Work on Siilihai will resume. There are also some commercial possibilities planned but don't worry, it'll stay open source & free.
As this is still a hobby project, I can't give any release date for next version.

So you plan to maybe charge for it eventually?
If it's well put together I personally have no problem with that at all.
Especially if it's going to motivate you to spend more time on it.

So no very rough time-frame as to when the next major release is?
Will it be a MAJOR overhaul?
Can you at least give us an idea of the stuff you plan to fix/implement?

Thank-you.

No, i think the client should be free & open source. I might put a "Donate" link on the page some day if you want to motivate me.

Ok, my priorities currently are:

- Get the architecture changes related to sharing code between desktop & mobile clients finished & tested. This is what i'm currently working on.
- Fix remaining bugs in mobile client and test it properly.
- Optimize the sync protocol between client & server to make startup faster. Currently it's way too slow on 3g connection.
- Add support for TapaTalk and other forum protocols.

Probably the last step will be so large update that it could be called 'major overhaul' and worth upgrading version number to 2.0.

Didn't notice there is a new version until now. After quick testing, I can now subscribe to a forum but not its threads. Will there be possibility of using it as a forum browser only? I mean without subscribing to threads. Perhaps this one could be of help in creating the UI:

Siilihai can subscribe to groups only, not single threads.. Just like news readers do. I don't think subscribing only to selected threads would be very useful.

New mobile version:

- Fixes a few bugs
- Uses new libsiilihai version - syncing is much faster now during startup
- Non-inverted color theme

This seems to be usable, so I'm uploading it to Nokia Store soon unless major issues are reported.

Bugs report:
- after starting application, I got "Login failed, check your internet connection.." eventhough I was online. Possibly because I didnt put login info for any forum. (tmo, nitroud, tangthuvien)
- Forum's Manage Subscription page, ie. Select TMO and press Manage Subscriptions, go back, select nitdroud and do the same. The Manage subscription page now has info from TMO instead of Nitdroid.
- Context menu page has 2 options, Quit as button and velow it is empty place.

Re: Siilihai Web Forum Reader

Thanks for bug reports. At least the group selection bug should be fixed now.
I have started using meego OBS for building siilihai-mobile. You can find latest version at:

http://repo.pub.meego.com/home:/vranki/Harmattan/armel/

It now uses webkit for rendering posts (images should work) and should start faster thanks to protocol & sync optimizations. It's also available for MeeGo Mer / Nemo but looks like the menu bar doesn't work correctly on latest Nemo.

I think it's possible to add OBS to sources.list for automatic updates.

Would you like me to add siilihai-mobile to Nokia Store? Installation would be easy that way, but uploading new releases would be slower.

Could you use apps.formeego? Installation would be easy and upgrading (from testing repo) would be fast.

Re: Siilihai Web Forum Reader

That's what I was going to suggest before my net connection went down for a few hours...
Although apps4meego has been extremely unreliable in recent wks, unless my client's simply broken & I need to reinstall or something :-/
Nokia Store & apps4meego would be ideal, unless that takes too much of the devs time...

Yep, i'll upload it to apps.formeego when it's in more stable state.

Do they have TapaTalk installed or a parser made? It is impossible to support a forum without those as there is no common api.

Which ones? TapaTalk login should be supported (though not tested throughly) and parsers may support login. Most forums do not require login to be readable.

Yep, that's broken currently. It's using QML WebView component, i'll have to figure out if it's possible to catch link clicks in it.

Thanks for feedback. It "works for me" but it's still alpha quality. If you are a developer, patches are welcome.

Re: [MeeGo] Siilihai Web Forum Reader

Hi,

How do I insert Siilihai account ? Some time ago when I first run Siilihai I skipped the login part and now I have no idea how to add it to get rid of the Error: login failed message. I made a parser for a forum named Tang Thu Vien and it works nicely with the PC client but not with N9 version, can't load messages.

I tried with TMO forum and the text size is quite small and perhaps you are already aware of this but the size of each post isn't scaled according the content but there seem to be a constant size for all posts. When inside a forum (list of threads) the context menu (three lines button) displays Quit and an empty entry.
I think the whole context menu could be removed as we can swipe down to close the app and for options like: Unsubscribe forum or Subscribe to .. you could place a button directly onto toolbar.

Thanks for the update

There isn't a GUI way to reset account, but you can issue this command in terminal:

rm .local/share/data/siilihai*

Message updating should be identical between mobile & desktop, but yes it doesn't seem to work correctly. I 'll try to figure out what's wrong.

These are known issues which i'm investigating. The QML WebView doesn't want to wrap contents properly. I'll try to find a workaround for it.

Re: [MeeGo] Siilihai Web Forum Reader

Hi,
I think I found the problem with the parser I made. Thanks to your guide I managed to log in and the parser now works on N9. I think the reason why it didn't work is because I set the state for this forum to Development in desktop client and thus only work when I connect to my account on N9. However it does work on desktop client without authentication though.

It's very nice that siilihai supports spoiler tags in a post and this forum I browse daily has them in every posts, browsing using default browser is a pain due to this reason.

thanks again.

Hi,

I'm not using a N900 anymore so i don't think i'll be using much effort to make a port. It should be quite easy to port Siilihai-Mobile for Maemo if all necessary QML components can be found.
If you get it working, i'd be happy to accept a pull request in github.

I am planning to do a version without QML components so that it could be ported to Android using Necessitas SDK. I think it should be also trivial to port to Maemo.
