Yeah bug #198 is one of the nastiest.
Also #121, I hope to God they're sorted!
They better not be coming with PR1.3.

More features for the browser? (aside form improved core/rendering-engine)
Also can we manually change UA in GUI somewhere?

It didn't work too well for many folks, there's some threads about it.
So they've probably rectified that...

No, no changes to the GUI except for the history.

would you mind combining all your replies with quotes to one reply post, nothing personal but when we are trying to dig thru new info being posted by the ones with n950 its hard to sort thru your posts.

WiFi & Cellular???
But not everyone seemed to have that issue.
So I guess it's a hard one to get a handle on.

Re: [Announce] Harmattan 1.2 beta now available as OCF for Nokia N950

Seems the Store addresses for 1.2 apps are different, hence the restore issue (just a guess). Another possibility is that the Backup doesn't ask for the Nokia account credentials needed.

EDIT: Overall my N950 feels much snappier.

Old SMSes got restored, though I didn't have many to confirm there are all of them.

Even paired Bluetooth devices and wireless connections got restored.

DLNA sharing is available in the status menu along with the bluetooth.

Change mail password from failed transfer is now a normal dialog and can be swiped away to check the pass.

Keyboard install from Mesinput requires restart (dunno if this was the case before).

Clicking on album art now brings up the playlist instead of pausing (music player). Long click on song shows a menu with append to playlist, queue and favorites.

Hmm, managed to freeze the whole phone completely. It restarted after a minute. Dunno how it happened.

For N9? You have to wait a few weeks.

No, for N950.

The beta is only available through a One Click Flasher, it won't be released OTA.

Installing the Skype account-plugin from the N9 repository appears to work just fine on PR1.2beta - suggest installing the Skype account-plugin after flashing (naturally!) and prior to restoring any backup so that contacts and messages will be restored correctly with all details intact.

Re: [Announce] Harmattan 1.2 beta now available as OCF for Nokia N950

"Smart" Birthdays are working again, but only for new contacts. For existing contacts that already have the Birthday field populated, you need to modify the birthdate to something other than the current date, save the contact, modify the birthdate back to the correct date, save the contact again and then wait a few seconds for the item to appear in the "Birthdays" calendar.

I've re-opened bug #158. Arguably this remaining defect could/should be a new bug, but I'd rather it was assigned to the current bug as upgrading existing contacts is all part and parcel of the same defect as far as I'm concerned.

That's unpleasant. Here goes again backup, install, restore and tweak game.

Did it work for contacts, or you need to back them up manually?

I can't say for sure about Contacts, as I had them synced to Ovi and I'm not sure if they were restored by Ovi or my backup. Either way, I got all my Contacts back without a hitch, I'm just not sure where they came from so your mileage may vary...

Re: [Announce] Harmattan 1.2 beta now available as OCF for Nokia N950

For some reason I couldn't get Twitter tweets to appear in the Feed view - the Twitter app was working fine, but I just couldn't get any tweets to appear automatically in the Feed view. After disabling the Twitter account and also flipping and twiddling with just about every Feed/Notification related setting I could find, I deleted the Twitter account, added it back and hey presto - tweets in my Feed view during the next scheduled update.

I had restored all of my accounts from a PR1.1 backup, so maybe something went awry with the restore...

Re: [Announce] Harmattan 1.2 beta now available as OCF for Nokia N950

I'm quite impressed with the update, the N950 seems smoother (but then that always happens with a clean flash).

The Nokia Drive app has some great improvements. DLNA support is a welcome addition (its fantastic to see new features being added after all the commotion around MeeGo being abandoned).

My Perth Trains app seems to be unaffected by the font update, and I haven't found any issue with other apps yet either.

Yeah, so far everything about PR1.2beta has been positive - some really nice surprises too. Great job.

I really wish they would have fixed bug #24 though - it baffles me why they are procrastinating over something that (to me at least) seems like such an obvious and essential enhancement if the N9 is to be taken seriously as an email tool (make it an option if it's that big of a deal - "New Mail Alert [Notify once|Notify always]"). Jeez.

Not in any significant way beyond the improved font metrics. Embedded twitter and RSS images now appear in the Feed view.

Re: [Announce] Harmattan 1.2 beta now available as OCF for Nokia N950

Was expecting much better use of swipe.
For instance:

1) When on open apps screen you can close all apps by swiping from top edge downward and possibility of asking "close all apps?"

2) Also where the heck is front camera use even just for stills, throw us a bone!

3) Maps and Drive should be one, or at least app load time should be almost instantaneous to alleviate the wait for navi instruction when initiated from Maps app.

4) Was expecting serious browser improvements like quicker loading similar to Safari on iPhone speed.

5) Well I don't know about this one but I hope keyboard is seriously improved. Tried my brother's iPhone 4S and iPhone handled all my typing with no errors and was fast!

6) I've read the network dropping bug wasn't fixed in this release-hope I'm wrong because once in a while it does drop but what pisses me off more is when I'm in a dead zone and come out of one and phone doesn't catch network signal without me enabling and disabling flight mode.

7) I think a small 3-day forecast should be in feeds screen/panel; they've got the room for it, at least on the lock screen or maybe both?

8) I don't know if this was fixed but I hate when phone has to automatically lock when screen is idle. Why no option to lock it when I want like iPhone or N900 simple press/flick lock button and it's locked.

9) Also don't know if this was fixed but seriously the Song Playing on lockscreen is terrible. Buttons are too small and there's so much room being wasted on the lock screen why not do something with it? Maybe show events/to-dos on lock screen and/or weather forecast

10) I hope this was fixed-stupid two-step process to answer calls-no phone should have this especially a so-called "SMART"phone.

11) Document editor-come on that's definitely a given.

12) In status menu when it shows bluetooth have a switch button near it to easily switch on/off maybe also by wi-fi.

13) If an sms is more than a line or so the preview given as a status bar type notification only shows some of message. It should be like Android and show you whole message by first showing preview of first part and after 2 secs the second part etc so you easily read whole message without being interrupted like while you're in a game.

14) They should've put contact shortcuts on app screen and/or lock screen and/or on QuickLaunch bar thats swipeable from right or left which reveals a different set of shortcut icons all user set.

15) BIG PLUS for this one: OCR built-in to camera app. I miss that feature, Nokia had it for my E70 and other phones as a beta app I think. Forgot what it was called. Anyways it was 85% accurate with a decent pic and with the N9's camera should a lot more accurate than E70. This would give Nokia a big edge over competition if they bring back this app into their phones.

16) Document app should render PDF a lot quicker than it does now.

17) How about option to choose the result of swiping from each edge when in an app. Meaning: if you are in an app and what to get to app screen quickly-you swipe from left side of screen. For feeds panel you swipe from right side of screen. For open apps without closing curent open app-swipe from bottom upward. For open apps screen with closing current app-swipe from top downward.

Sorry for this people. I appreciate all the new things coming to N9 and have been patiently waiting for it through PR 1.2 but I feel like there's a lot that hasn't been covered.

Think of any other things I might've missed? Sound off let us know! You never know it could be implemented just from reading that lucky post.
