Thank you so much, i love how you guys keep making this phone better and better.

For the red light can you just push H and it should stop it.

at least it works for me.

With kp-50 I get a process "sh" that is using 100% cpu all the time, goes away only if I flash original kernel

this has been discussed...if you are in a museum and want to take a picture of a painting behnd a glass, the red light reflection will surelly ruin your pic...same for video, even if you press H you have to do it after the recording as began..and if you need to refocus during recording...u have to open keyboard and press h again..and again..and again..this way in kp50...its great...its just gone..no more red light reflections, no more opening and closing keyboard, wonderfull job of the development team and a good descision to implement this i think.

random reboot if oc over than 900mhz,

whatever the profile that i activated, its always the same, -_- a

To disable red LED.

Is there a way to prevent the focus system from turning on the LED system when it wants to as well? (Or does this do that? I'm not quite up to K50 as I have other fish to fry right now and need a stable phone for the next day or two, so I'm not upgrading right this second. :) )

it stands for SmartReflex. Its a feature in the CPU to dynamicly change the voltage after workload. In other words, CPU only consume as much voltage as it it need to do the opereation without crashing.

up to 600 SR calculated values are fine, though I'm used to supplying a lil more voltage( about 1-2 steps additionally against the SR calculated (real) voltage)

TBH my primary goal was to have stable SR for stock frequencies, as those who OC usually are aware of what's "under the hood". So far this seems achieved and I am happy :) .

Quote:

@ OC freqs,

720 45 430 (caused reboot at 43 [= SR calculated voltage])
805 50 430 (causes reboot at 48)
850 52 600 (-used mainly for video recording purposes)
900 54 600 (-used mainly for video recording purposes)

DSP profile (SR) - with flat dsp rate of 430

pls note that the values are as shown on kernel config

250 23 180 - stable
500 36 360 - stable
550 38 400 - stable
600 40 430 - stable
720 45 430 - not stable
805 49 430 - not stable
850 51 430 - not stable
900 xx 430 - reboot withing 2 seconds

*ps : above result are done without touching dsp boost value.

/nkirk
Well, seems there is no option left, but to export sysfs entry for MPU similar to sr_dsp_boost, so on devices like yours a liitle voltage boost to be given to MPU for OC frequencies. But that will be in the next release.

SR driver does not support frequencies above 900. And if you try some of the profiles which has SR disabled, then it seems they undervolt your device too much. Or it is just not capable of going over 900.

The same applies to the guy who said he will enable SR for 950MHz/1GHz - there is just no support for those frequencies, won't work (at least not stable).

Well, it is your device, but there are easiest ways to fry it - just put it in the frying pan :p. Really, OC to 1 GHz is not as simple as it might seem, I would recommend you to limit your max frequency to 900 and enable SR. Those additional 100MHz will give you nothing but trouble. You may ask yourself why I have max set to 805 on my n900.

And, should I use uboot or multiboot, or is it a matter of taste?

I'm bumping myself here, because for this particular thing I'm not sure if this is so easy to find in the other uboot/power kernel threads. I upgraded as usual from 49 to 50 (using apt-get) and decided to try multiboot or uboot after the upgrade, but I don't really want to do a complete reflash. So can I at this point install either multiboot or uboot without screwing up the boot and which one is to prefer?

Do FCAM drivers need to be rebuilt as the injection drivers?
Are applications such as A Better Camera working?
Thanks

Yes indeed, with your hard work you got the impossible SR to work properly on stock frequencies, even at OC frequencies with solid stability except for a very few devices like mine, that's quite an achievement considering the fact that the guys(engineers) at Nokia had given up on it.Not to mention all the other valuable projects which you are working on too. we really appreciate your effort. Thank you mate.

Is there a command to activate SR or do I have to enable it in my oc profile (VDD1=1 VDD2=1)

My N900 works flawlessly with SR enabled. I have tested up to 900MHz and seems to be fully stable. Although, calculated voltages are higher than what I have set on my old tried and tested config for my device. I have set it at 720MHz now and all is good.

kernel-config shows lists calculated values +2, so if you have 45 for 720MHz, the actual volatge is 43 ;)

i dont see that mentioned in the changelog of kp50..so i guess its the same as before..but the flash during focus is also a pain..i agree.

It's started by root and the issued command according to top is:

Code:

/bin/sh -e -c        echo 120 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-2/2-0063/power_level        echo 1 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-2/2-0063/lock        /bin/sh rcS-late

hmm, seems like fmboost, remove it, it is not needed.

EDIT:
or some other script that changes fmtx level to 120.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v50 in Extras-Devel

@woody & others:
sys entry for indicator LED turn it off for good - i.e. it doesn't re-appear during focusing etc. It is even not possible to turn it *on* again, via "h" in CSSU's camera-ui. Of course, changing sys entry works immediately, no reboot is needed.

Huge thanks for vi_ for finding it - I wasn't able to locate indicator led entry for a life of mine.

Thx... just found

/etc/event.d/fmtxpower-bfs

which maximizes the fm transmitter power (although I have the modified fmtxd installed anyways). Because of the name I would guess it's from the previously installed BFS kernel, which is a little strange in my opinion though. Anyway, removing the script solves this issue for me.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v50 in Extras-Devel

This script doesn't have anything to do with bfs-kernel. I know it's off-topic here - posting it just for clarification.

small question.
After update, I still have the multiboot entry for v49.
How do I remove it?

rm /etc/multiboot.d/01-Maemo-kernel-power-2.6.28.10-power49.item
is it enough?

Installed V50 yesterday, works great for me. The only issues regards playing some videos using mplayer+kmplayer with DSP profile loaded. As seen on V49, video output stutters when SR is enabled.

Tnx to Pali and any other guys for spending so much time carrying on this device, i really love it and i also appreciate a lot your work.
