Nice to see you become a troll :) I know you had it in you. I saw that on you aggressive style(you share that with abill, he is also likes to go after people). And all this my thread. How dare you. You should really read this thread again. You can learn a thing a two. Quite a few great posts. Start from beginning to the part where you joined in.

Tizen and his HTML5-driven-OS is "already failed" to me. I'm not saying Jolla with Mer will be successful, but at least my hope is with them right now.

No,nothing. I think we are quite a bit away from that, they just announce their existance. Give them some time.

Would be interesting to see if the interested is the same after the jump first announcements. Prepare for a new poll in a few months. Until then, sit tight.

Well, that's the point, isn't it - write once, run everywhere? Tizen/WebOS/FirefoxOS may be are fragmented (even though with market share less than a single percent), but what should we say about Android's native browser that manifests different bugs on every device out there on the same WebKit engine and was so bad that even Google dumped it and replaced it with Chrome in 4.1. We are trying to mimic the platforms and I can say that even with all Android bugs, it is worth it.

Or what should we say about the different platform toolkits - which are twice as many as there are platforms out there. Qt is by far the most cross-platform out there, but not widely available nor supported on at least 80% of the market's devices.

Most of the established ones started with their own platform and native tools and eventually provided (or didn't forbid the community to do it) HTML5 apps SDKs. Only lately, perhaps as the hardware gets better and the browsers accelerated, starting with WebOS, and followed by Tizen, Firefox OS and Windows 8 bet big on HTML5. While the first 3 are already dead or still in the cradle, Windows 8 seems to be doing okay with its Metro-style apps (which however can't be made cross-platform, thanks to the proprietary WinRT underneath).

If I recall correctly, Apple, for example, didn't allow native 3rd party apps on the original iPhone for at least the first year. They insisted web apps would suffice. Things really took off for them when they reconsidered that decision.

No-one mentions Native-Ubuntu or ARM-openSUSE :(

Out of all of them which one I would prefer as a daily driver?
ICS/JellyBean.

Which one I'm interested in/wish for success?
Jolla/MeeGo 1.2

Tizen can burn for all I care, its another castrated linux.

Well, there was no app store then, so they wouldn't have allowed 3rd party apps even if they wanted to (considering the tight security control by Apple).

Jolla collaborates with Mer - a community driven and open project. Tizen is all corporate controlled with no open development (even if it's open source). In this sense Jolla is better.

According to Telefonica a survey they've done has found 75% of apps in Google Play and Apple's app store are already created in HTML5

75%

That doesn't cover all the Fart Apps. There's some clever Fart App Developers using C++ there xD

Honestly, to me, Tizen has the upper hand ATM. They have dev devices in the community. What JollaMobile has is still unknown.

I don't support Tizen nor JollaMobile, But I support their ideas that we need new and improved and different OS es.

Meanwhile, I'm running available OS es and are quite happy.

Even the Ovi store is flooded by those auto-generated RSS readers. % of say 1000 most downloaded apps - that would have some informational value. :)

IMO it's not just about plastic developer devices like the tizen thing. To me Jolla is much more interesting mainly because they use and contribute to Mer. Just this fact alone makes it more open and transparent than Tizen. Besides I'll take Qt over html5 any day of the week. That said, afaik you can do html5 on top of Mer too if you want to. Just that on the other os you can choose and on the other you can't...

Re: Jolla VS Tizen Poll

I don't disagree with you there. But to me, Mer+Qt+Unknown UI isn't enough to build a great device, especially when jollaMobile don't comment about these stuff more in details. I need more solid facts and feels.

What I'm saying is that I'm waiting for JollaMobile to comment on these things. Stskeeps providing us with some information. That is perfect! But there is lots of information missing here.

Same with Tizen really.

The "best" SoC doesn't mean anything on a device where the os is crap.

Aaahh... seperating ("them" and who, U?) again... What's your desired aim here, please?
Crossing your bridges before you come to them is so pointless as we all already know.

welcome Win7Mac, I see you still just complaining about stuff and don't bring the discussion forward in any way. So what do you think will succeed. Tizen or jolla?

i really doubt the community will back joola if they dont make something with a usability of maemo devices(and i mean actual maemo devices that are more like a pc and not just a basic smartphone like harmattan...)
what it actually seems is that the community wont back up s.h.i.t like tizen
