Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
@thedead1440
I also use and prefer stock browser for my daily use. But I will say "different tools for different tasks". Some pages work better in Opera, some in stock, some in FF. My online banking works only in FF. For the page with public transport timetables in my home city I prefer Opera. And so on. |

Updated to Opera Mobile 12.00.8, still can't open local image from 3rd party app (eg. FileBox). Tried uninstall & reinstall again, still the same. Only happens to me?

@kai_en, @dicksonleong8
I don't have this problem - just tested with Filebox. Opera is NOT default browser on my device though. |
Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
I don't have the issue too as Opera is NOT my default browser...Setting it to default gives me the same issue...This has been covered by orhn too as a bug caused by Opera Mobile...

Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
Yes, I set Opera Mobile as my default browser before this. Now I set it back to Web but still unable to open local images. I even reboot my phone. So far the only way to fix this problem for me is uninstall it

Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
There is a question about Youtube that has not been solved by the latest update to 12.0.08. If you access m.youtube.com using Opera and play a video, then on my device, it plays on a purple-themed native videoplayer that has a button on the bottom left that opens the video gallery. If you access the same site using the N9's native browser, then the video plays in a videoplayer with a deep electric blue theme of much higher playback quality.
Solving this and the bug mentioned in earlier posts re: viewing local images in, say, Filebox, would be great. For me, I like the text reflow in Opera, since it gives you an easy way to adjust how large the text letters are. I also like the 360 degree orientation option. I'll try this new version for a couple of days and see how it goes. |

Try the following: Delete the file /home/user/.local/share/applications/defaults.list then enter settings and select a default browser again. Please report back if it resolves the issue or not. /ohrn |

The page Opera receives contains RTSP video links that will be opened in the default video player on the phone. The native browser receives a different page and the video player is part of the browser itself. I'm guessing it's HTML5 video but I have not investigated further. In short, there is nothing to be done about it. /ohrn |

For Terminal beginners, you just open terminal and type in: cd /home/user/.local/share/applications/ rm defaults.list Then just reboot your phone. |

Also, I was wondering if a third party app like Cutetube, which accesses the HTML browser, could be cause for hope that Opera could use some similar strategy to create a solution? True to my word, I have been using Opera as my default browser and I am quite impressed. My use case involves a lot of reading and browsing, so Opera's strengths are helpful, like the find-on-page function and the select a word and search function. Good work. |

Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
I did not update Opera Mobile as I wanted to keep the version with Harmattan VKB support (though incomplete and buggy, I know, but when you know it and have the choice to use it or not, that's OK), but is there a "Copy URL" in the context menu in the next versions? It would often be useful (to me at least).

Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
Just learned today that Opera Mobile supports bookmarklet and unlike default browser it CAN be added to Bookmarks, not straight but doable though a bookmarking a random site and replace URL with the script.
behold, Inverted color mode using Darken !! Code:
javascript:(function(){var%20newSS,%20styles='*%20{%20background:%20black%20!%20important;%20color:%20grey%20!important%20}%20:link,%20:link%20*%20{%20color:%20#0000EE%20!important%20}%20:visited,%20:visited%20*%20{%20color:%20#551A8B%20!important%20}';%20if(document.createStyleSheet)%20{%20document.createStyleSheet("javascript:'"+styles+"'");%20}%20else%20{%20newSS=document.createElement('link');%20newSS.rel='stylesheet';%20newSS.href='data:text/css,'+escape(styles);%20document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(newSS);%20}%20})(); Random article from Google news: Original: http://i.imgur.com/cwXho.png with Darken: http://i.imgur.com/crXHa.png |
Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
Since the ability exists to have inverted colours, can it be added as a switch in settings, ohrm?

Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
Hello,
I just noticed that when I am browsing the internet with Opera, the IP-address is not my own IP. The IP is located somehwere in Poland with the hostname "Opera Software Asa". Previously I was wondering that why am I able to enter a website (piratebay) that is banned by the finnish internet providers with my mobile phone but not on my PC. Both devices were on same WLAN. Now I notice that it works with any internet connection but only in Opera and not with Firefox or stock browser. Any ideas why is Opera doing this? Should we be worried because as far as I understand all the traffic is routed through Poland? |
Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
First off, thank you for your continued support of Maemo5 and Maemo6, dear Opera.

sed -i 's/Exec.*/Exec=\/opt\/operamobile-labs\/bin\/operamobile-labs -tabletui/' /usr/share/applications/operamobile-tablet.desktop Thanks to Schturman and it'll be added in the next version of N9QT so its easier to install from there ;) |

Thanks anyway ;) |
Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
Oh also if you use Opera Tab UI not from N9QT but from kuzmichov (spelling?) then you would need to replace the last part of that command: operamobile-tablet.desktop must be changed to operatab.desktop
|
Re: Introduction to Opera Mobile Labs for N9
OK. tried the command, but still won't work opening Opera via Opera Tab UI icon
Though using default Opera Mobile icon works flawlessly |

what is the name of your operatab.desktop; it may be different...Do it as root and it works...I just did it ;) |
