Slow on n900?!? Naah, it just gives you the native experience :D.

Jokes aside (huh?) it is not slow at all (at least here). The problem is it starts and runs rotated 180 deg from landscape and I cannot find a way to rotate it to portrait. CSSU-thumb, qml12, force-rotation disabled.

otherwise great job helex

finally helex ,you did it .thanks man .great great job .
Edit : I could never manage to read your first whole post earlier untill i installed this on my N900,i was like whatdafuq, then i read your first post thoroughly and eyes were all opened when i read that it is an other joke app .lmao .
Now that we are playing jokes ,may i request a joke ?
What if you could make it such an app where we could really use this as an emulator ? Could add apps to show on the main desktop ?
Sorry if this is a serious joke .lol
thanks again .

Yes, it does. Apple owns all rectangles with rounded corners. Beware of their army of lawyers! :p

Oh, thats strange. Which version have you installed?

wpxemulator 0.0.3-5 should work. If you installed 0.0.3-1 it won't start. (no permission to start it)

Okay, my N900 isn't overclocked, but it runs CSSU. I'm not sure if my device runs the latest version. It runs here in Landscape mode and I rotated the whole stuff -90 degree to make it look portrait.
My N900 refused to show it in portrait. So this was the fastest fix for me. Hmm... I guess I need to look again into it. :)

Meh... we would need to port MONO to our handsets to have something "like" a working .NET framework. The effort needed to do this is overwhelming. Personally I spent a lot of effort and money to get finally a Nokia N9 in my country. It has a unique UI, great multitasking and superb working applications. I don't really like Windows Phone. If you would like the limited Apps from Windows Phone on your device I would say you should buy a Lumia 800 on eBay. They are currently really really cheap and they will get soon even cheaper for a good reason. ;)

Sorry for the bad news. But my intention was only to give others the WP expirience I would expect from a Lumia. Nothing more, nothing less.

ah sighs ! i am sure my english sucks since you couldnt understand what i really meant there .I have never been interested in any lumias ,but what i was trying to say is that WE could get a WP experience in real ,not through a joke app but with a real app.By adding apps i didnt mean to ask for anything like nitdroid .I was saying that may be it could turn out to be a windows-launcher ( more of a theme ) ,where we have empty window tiles and we select apps from main menu such as phone, settings, conky etc and by pressing on a tile ,app responds e:g ,conky shows all the information ( required ) .
Like in your wpx emulator ,tiles dont respond at all when get pressed .Hopefully you understood what i really meant .
Secondly i am sure you would be least interested in all this but still i typed all this with my fingers crossed .See through it if possible at any time .TIA

Woah, wait a sec. What if we didn't want an emulator per se, but instead just have your app empowered to activate our existing N9 apps? This way, the phone button in your app would call the phone UI, the SMS button would call the messages app, the right arrow would take you to the homescreen. That sort of thing. Would such a thing be possible? I bet if you made it a pro-version of your current app, it would sell like hot cakes. . .

I love the app as-is, and at the same time, the idea of having something that is a bit more of a hybrid is even more perverse.

Great work! And no sweat if it's too much of pain, but I had to ask . . .

Hmm... yes, a replacement to the hildon windows manager on the N900. It should be possible but I would say no maemo developer is really interested enought in this. Sorry. ;)
At the N9 it seems nearly impossible to me. But I'm not a expert.

It should be enought if it is only a app. Perhaps The post of Hacker could be enought for you?

In the end, if we really do this... wouldn't we get at some point to a situation we really could get sued?
Currently the app is just a persiflage. So nothing useful and it looks and works differently. But as soon as it would work like the original it could get really dangerous. At least in my opionion. But I'm not a expert.

This is possible and easily doable. Yes. I would need only to search for the apps which are needed to launch and I thought already about it. Hmm...

I will see. I need to think about it a little bit. But if you're able to you could search which commands at the terminal are needed to start the Phone / SMS and Facebook app. Hmm... okay, different code is needed at the N9 and N900.

Perhaps it is okay to launch simply some apps. But I would be afraid to make the app really functional. And I wouldn't sell it. It shouldn't get a commercial application. I'm to afraid to get at a point where it could get a target to get sued.
If you wan't to support me there is already a working store button at the N9 version. :) I have way better applications at the store. And a good rating is always welcome over there. If anything is not working please write me here a short message instead of a negative rating.
And donations are already welcome. The best would be to donate me just more time! :D

Thanks for considering enhancing an already great app with some more working buttons. And I'm glad you mentioned that the store button in your app was functional--I hadn't tried it! I think it may be a proof of concept that when a few of the buttons work, it adds a nice touch.

As far as launching the apps, whatever is easiest for you, because I'm no expert. But I wonder if you could use the the launch information from the .desktop files. For instance, when I nano the fMobi.desktop file, which would be one of the Facebook apps, you see this as one of the lines: Exec=/usr/bin/invoker --single-instance --type=e /opt/usr/bin/fMobi

Is this what you had in mind? All of the .desktop files are in the /usr/share/applications/ directory.

Thanks again.

all i was talking about something like this ,this is window 7 launcher for ad-droid.http://www.linuxlinks.com/portal/con...her7-Small.png
And i hope the guy who made this ,didnt get screwed due to any law thingy.
The other thing is ,QBW might be useful in making all those tiles without any problem ,i have seen some russian guy already made sucha theme but he couldnt deliver all the info here .I am really not obsessed with windows 7 style but i suppose its better to have something rather than nothing and i believe N900 is quite capable of such thing without any hiccup.

Yes, this was exactly what I thought. I will add those commands only for preinstalled apps. So no fmobi button at the N900, but perhaps at the N9. :)

The sad news: I'm participating with this app at the coding competition this year. The deadline is in about 2 hours and I need to go to bed now. We're asked for a "code freeze" while the voting is running. I don't know at the moment when the voting will start. So... hm... perhaps I will ask if it counts as a feature or a fix. ;)

But I'm afraid, if I will integrate the corresponding launch commands to the tiles I guess I have to do it in some weeks after the voting is done. :(

I hope you would still vote for it. But only if there is nothing in the "Other" category you like more... Be afraid of your outing: Nobody should really like tiles! :)

LOL. It goes without saying that you have my vote! (uhm, how do we vote, anyway?)

Say, if the powers that be at the competition do not agree to allow the incorporation of more functioning buttons, do you think that you could submit the current version for the contest and then add the new functions for the public in the next version? That would seem fair to the contest and it wouldn't force quite as long a delay in development. No big deal if it must be delayed, but . . . I had to ask.

Good luck, and thanks again.

I was just kidding, it's up to you which apps you elect. :)

This app was created to have something to participate at the coding competition, not with the target to win anyting. ;)

If you would vote for it I'm fine. If you find anything which is more attractive vote for this. We're a community. We're whats left over from the good old Nokia. We have to stay together and we're not opponents. :)

Ensure you have enought karma points (more than 10 I would say) by connecting your maemo.org and talk.maemo.org accounts together. Google will perhaps help you. And as soon as the voting begins you will receive a mail with the details. Just like the council election. But only in case we're able to setup the process correctly. Otherwise we will have a Forum poll.
Watch out this tread for more details: Coding competition 2012

Yes, I will add it in the next version. After the voting is done. There are already a developer asking at the thread if tiny updates may be allowed, so I will not ask if it is allowed at my submission. I will just wait and see what happens. :)

Yeah, the competition was running for 3 months (yes, I began very, very late with my project) and the community should vote for the work during the 3 months. Just to keep it fair. :)

I'm not sure if it will end good if something like this goes viral. So I'm not sure if I would like it...

Not to sound like a party pooper, I have simply some doubts.
If it generates to much noise I'm sure Nokia will find a justification and remove it from the store. And I'm sure, if you love the N9/xx you wouldn't like to have this "courseware" removed. ;)

I'm not sure about the causes for the votes at the ovi store: WPx Emulator

Are there so many lovers of the original out there? :)

In my opinion a 5 stare rating is a sign how strong the maemo and MeeGo community is in contrast to the fans of the real worst product with their 1 star ratings.
Currently it seems to me there are more Windoze fans out there... This can't be real!

Should we as a community show in the ratings how exact and well this Emulator works? :D

So, a small update. :)

I got 3 buttons via a (mostly) fast hack working (maps, phone and email) and will push this small update to the ovi store just after the voting of the 2012 Coding Competition is done. (in about 5 days) - it feels really bad at the N900, so I guess I wouldn't do it there, but at the N9 it looks a little bit more "integrated". Hmm... don't know. I'm still not convinced... hopefully it will fly thru the ovi store QA. You need to test it yourself. ;)

And since only 1 day more to work: Enjoy your weekend! :D

As some of you may have seen, since Friday is the newest update for WPx Emulator available.

New features:
  • 4 Tiles are now somehow working, I refuse to tell which ones :D
  • the main feature has now a funny sponsor - the paragon of my small app should have done this ages ago... (The stock value wouldn't have dropped below those of Apple in this case, trust me)
