I remember thedead1440 gave a clue for this issue, have you try it? (pls share to him if it works)

Yes I edited and moved the facebook.desktop file successfully with thedead1440 help (using terminal) but still no icon :( when I try to open directly the facebook.desktop file (using Run MIDlet) the app runs but says "Could not open JAR file!"

Tried to share the facebook.desktop file at hildon map, hoping to put it on the menu but even with Filebox root you are not allowed!

I tried to install maemo version but it doesn't let me do that!

(are you sure downloading the latest Meego package? -> cvm_MEEGO-mr2.b168+svn20547-20120818_armel.deb)

anyway, congrats!

check post #23 in this thread -> http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=23 (perhaps it's relevant for Meego?)

Thanks but I have used the latest version of Meego.
I have no problem copying files from the hildon map to MyDocs and vice verca just using Filebox root.
And I can get access to Facebook by activating facebook.desktop from MyDocs too, but how to create an app at the menu screen I don't know!:(

I have Incept installed and Open source(I think!)

I removed both cvm files in Adm. App before starting again with
a)
b)
(see first page).
The facebook.jar file I didn't touch.
Then 'Making desktop shortcut:
1)
2)
3) by copy to MyDocs using Filebox root and edit by 'redak' and back to hildon map.

The search for dependencies succeeded for my N9;)

OK I'm in Facebook - in my native languages! - but that log in is difficult:
To get a keyboard you need to change menu (1) to Virtuel and then before 2) Done you need to change back to Quwrt else you will just get a black screen!

How does this look according to 'normal'?
It's only possible in Landscape and it's very slow - but only first time!

Well, this is proof that Meego can run the awesome PhoneMe as well (all credit goes to Davy)

Practically PhoneMe could run any jar file (Java application) but the trick is to find the one that designed for touchscreen which is rare-> I have another jar file: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=88182 (Google Maps Official)

In Maemo it runs pretty quick (I'm using 1 GHz overclock btw) & the orientation can be switched automatically to portrait though.

I have installed the latest meego version and had the same error. When I tried

./runmidlet /opt/phoneme/facebook.jar

in /opt/phoneme/bin I received the complaint

sh: unzip: not found

installing unzip solved the problem...it is now running fine

Well, I did

apt-get install unzip --allow-unauthenticated

however, if I remember right, this requires the activation of rzr' repository, witch is a bit involved. Maybe there is an easier way to find and install unzip (if this really is the solution also for other devices than mine; I don't really understand what is happening here).

Maybe the dependencies identified by your procedure include unzip?

Unfortunately, for googlemaps.jar, the issue seems to be more complicated, since the error message I receive in terminal is strange and I can't understand...

Could you post the error message in Google Maps thread?

It might catch attention of another Meego user perhaps.

:p

I have a problem with opgrade saying there is a new version but Opgrade button don't work it's only possible to use the Cancel button?

Just in case others have the same problem with creating and the function of menu icon for Facebook in Meego (N9):

See # 54,56 from toebear regarding Unzip

Ad to the procedure on first page:
Making desktop shortcut:
1. Open X-Terminal as root & type cd /usr/share/applications/hildon/
2. cp nimbuzz.desktop facebook.desktop
3. cp facebook.desktop /home/user/MyDocs
4. open that file -> facebook.desktop (using Redak or else) & replace all nimbuzz words with facebook (remember lowercase for facebook.jar (jad changed to jar)
5. Use Filebox root (or Terminal) to copy changed facebook.desktop back to
/usr/share/applications/hildon/ (overwrite existing file)
AND /usr/share/applications/

That was at least what make it function for me!:)

Unfortunately we can't upgrade the jar file within the application itself because it's running under PhoneMe (not natively)

The only way is by googling for Facebook Java Version jar file, designed for touchscreen which is extremely rare!

Btw, I have the update but I don't put in 1st page because there is no substantial improvement (I attached it here as zip file if you'd like to test & don't forget to extract, only for you grandpa hohoho)

can you do this with Viber also ? tested it now, works great.

Re: Facebook Official Client (Java Version)

it's possible w/ viber i think as long as the jar file is designed for touchscreen (cliche me hehe).

But there is so few good java application out there supporting touchscreen (for games, abundant!)

even non-touch java apps can be applied as well.

changed firefox user agent to Nokia C3-01 and went to Nokia store to download it. It gave download option but the file was JAD not JAR. Phoneme didn't opened it as JAR file is missing.

Found it from other website. will check it. If worked without any problem i will share link here. Thanks for the reply.

edit: bad luck :( it didn't worked.
