Youtube is not working at portrait mode, but landscape it working, but you can not zoom out.. Fullscreen is not possible. I didn't find any other bad thing :).

Dave999 did you try this? it is very fast! install that performance boos in warehouse. it fix that small frame lags of OS.

I accidentally uninstalled the nightly browser when the repo was not working. Now I do not have even the native browser and cannot install the nightly because it needs the native browser. Can i somehow install the native browser back without factory reset?

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Hijacked thread :)
But actually I think you should open separate thread, as here it's about being open sourced and people can discuss requested features and patches, as it's possible to request commits.

coderus 2014-06-20 18:07

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

no, i just announced sharing nightly builds of browser. i wont execute any requests :)

That's why you should have your own thread and let people request features here, maybe someone would actually send patch.
And you can just have thread with builds announcements and no requests :)

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Hm, i think, i can't install via Warehouse, because Nightly is version 1.0.7 and default browser is 1.0.11, so for Warehouse the default browser is newer than Nightly and it does not show the update /reinstall button, but only the uninstall-button.

coderus 2014-06-20 19:23

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

oh, you right, i should increase version number :)

Firefox for Android does now support FFOS apps natively on Android:
https://hacks.mozilla.org/2014/06/fi...un-on-android/
It would be cool to have this feature included in SailfishOS as well!

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Is it just me, but the Nightly browser crashes quite alot, especially when using the address bar. Browser crashes also randomly when opening links and so on...

coderus 2014-06-21 07:18

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

what apps you want to get from firefox os? or just "let it be"? :)

ZogG 2014-06-21 08:42

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

him? Afaik those are builds as is from jolla's repo :)
Though I too hope @coderus would fork and start improving, to push back to original repo :)

coderus 2014-06-21 08:46

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

exactly, i didnt any modifications on sources :)

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

There are several rather cool apps for FFOS, even though most of them are rather customized websites than true "apps". For instance, the XKCD reader is something that I really like on FFOS. There are several other nice apps, such as newsapps etc.. Nothing absolutely necessary, but still nice to have. And since it's possible on Android, why wouldn't it work on SF??
BTW: The nightly build never chrashed for me yet, thanks a lot!!

coderus 2014-06-21 15:51

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

just because Mozilla did FFOS apps support itself, nit any other random developer. And sailfish-browser developer by Jolla, not Mozilla ;)

Released set of patches for Patchmanager
- Search text on page
- Select and copy text on page
- Disable word snap while selecting text (by default you can't select middle of word, selection will snap to whole word)

cvp 2014-08-23 09:17

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

wow very nice work, works very well. The page search feature are really nice! love it.

the selection of a text still work after install, but the past not, there past the old text from yesterday, but a UI restart helps me :) now work all!

one thing... the Installation over warehouse is not working, i download directly from openrepos.

confirmed, update worked fine from warehouse.
But, app won't start. Loading circle and then it just crashes.
Any way to troubleshoot this?

Reboot worked for me!

coderus 2015-01-22 21:05

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Yes reboot the only option i found for now.

J4ZZ 2015-01-22 21:07

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Tried that already, but that did'nt do it.

nodevel 2015-01-22 21:14

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

I had to manually upgrade
  • gecko-engine
  • mozembed-library
  • embedlite-components
  • sailfish-browser-settings

then reboot and it finally works.

It looks pretty awesome, but I already have a first bug to report:
  1. Click the URL
  2. Tap and hold on a bookmark until the context menu appears
  3. Raise the finger (without selecting)
  4. Now try to select 'Open in tab' or 'Share'.

The forward button is hidden in the 'more-options-view'. You can access it using the button on the far right.

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

Thank you coderus for the nightly binaries. Installation works for me only this way:

Download all packages from openrepos.net.

Code:

cd to-the-folder-there-packages-reside

pkcon install-local xulrunner-qt5-31.3.0.3-10.10.1.jolla_.armv7hl.rpm embedlite-components-qt5-1.8.3-10.3.6.jolla_.armv7hl.rpm qtmozembed-qt5-1.12.7-10.6.5.jolla_.armv7hl.rpm sailfish-browser-settings-1.2.1-1.armv7hl.rpm sailfish-browser-1.2.1-2.armv7hl.rpm

After reboot the nigtly browser starts fine.

Add dependencies to sailfish-browser-1.2 build would help that issue

Re: [Announce] Sailfish Browser is now Open Source!

The new browser works for me when I launch it from the terminal, but from the launcher icon it fails. If I copy the invoker line to the terminal, it dies with a segfault. I tried changing the --type=browser argument to --type=silica-qt5 and it works. Anyone else getting this behaviour?

I also cannot open links from other applications, could this be the same problem? Where is the url handler launch defined?
