Still no update :( I appreciate them working hard to stabilize it even further and stuff but I'm so curious for it :D

they said in 2-3 weeks, a week ago, what did you expect?

Re: Update 1.0.9.n this week?

They could at least re-release update 8 with different version number meanwhile. The update process will keep us happy... also, I'm quite sure some people will notice performance improvements afterwards or discover features they hadn't known before.

I didn't expect 2-3 weeks. What I read was "we'll release it this month" so that could've been anywhere, including yesterday when I posted the post you responded to.

http://reviewjolla.blogspot.nl/2014/...september.html

"but it will be delivered during this month." --> quoted from Jolla, so Jolla's exact words.

Jolla's exact words:

However, we believe we need a few more weeks to ensure good quality especially since this is a major update including Qt 5.2.

Rest assured, we are committed to bring this release out during this month.

I usually assume one of the last possible days within the announced time frame, has been spot on for like 80% of releases... :-)

Still, you can't blame me for being impatient if a Jolla news website reports it different from the original...

Re: Update 1.0.9.n this week?

Could we also see younited cloud support from Fsecure, an announcement has been "Imminent" for a couple of months now?

It would be nice to see some of the products and add ons announced back in February make it onto the device.

I would also like to see the Android Sailfish GUI emulator thingy. All has gone very quiet on that front too.

And the media player issue i referred to is that all my SD media is now listed under one artist, not very usable. Tried all sorts of solutions but still the same.

vistaus 2014-09-22 09:45

Re: Update 1.0.9.n this week?

The one feature, besides the Qt 5.2 optimizations, that I'd like in *this* update is font size customization. I'd like to have a bit smaller fonts in the UI.

Had the same. Removed all media from SDCard and readded it. Works fine again.

May try that. 28Gb takes a while to recode though :(

Had the same problem.
I was lazy to recopy my 30Gb media files to the sd again. I tried to restart (not as root) the tracker process with:
tracker-control -es

and it worked :p

But that would be neat to have it from a GUI and not from the terminal only.

EDIT: tracker takes a while to finish

Would be nice to have the F-Secure before the phone's first birthday, which they promised 18 months ago that all First Ones at least would get for free

The Rovio TOH that appeared back then (and never went on general sale) is a perfect illustration of how far behind Jolla are. Rovio obviously had Angry Birds ready to go .. but Jolla hadn't even announced any plans for paid apps yet ... and they still haven't - only word we've had was a reply to a question in a developers' e-mail back in April, hoping to have it in "H2".

I think the Jolla launcher was a bad idea at this stage. Diverting software engineers and UX guys into that when so much is missing from Sailfish itself seems like a terrible, terrible use of man hours. By all means, when Sailfish is in a better state, do that to hopefully drive adoption. But now there's a really buggy, vestigial alpha floating around which doesn't really do much or even remotely replicate the Sailfish UX, beta / full release are presumably massively delayed, and they said it was going to be free anyway ... so it'd likely take money out of their pockets (if people chose to use it over a Sailfish ROM - where they'd get google revenue from browser searches). Even if people tried it and wanted to buy a Jolla ... most of the world has no availability, and the rest, barring Finland and HK, has very limited availability. Tbh, I hope it's abandoned until Sailfish is in a better state and their second phone is out / other OEMs have Sailfish ROMs.

Question is: who's at fault? Jolla or F-Secure? Not that I care about the whole F-Secure thing though.

I don't recall them saying it would be free to First Ones either.

Oops, sorry if that was misleading. F-secure was ANNOUNCED in February 2014 to be available "soon".

For info, update 9 will not be available this week as some additional polishing is needed...

Thank you for the info. I do question why is this sort of stuff not announced through ominously quiet Jolla comms channels?

I do wonder what they are doing though with younited. I've got it installed on my Mac and frankly it's a bit rough as a Mac app always hanging or poping up a blank window with 'WebView' as the title.

I can understand if it's late on Jolla given the state of the Mac application. :(

Well damn the Jolla news community again. Second time a Jolla news site has given a false impression. JollaNL tweeted this morning that Update 9 was almost upon us. When I read it like that, I think of within the next 72 hours. But that's apparently not the case. Now that this has happened for the second time, I'll make sure not to get my hopes up anymore when a Jolla news site posts any update news.

It's not that it's such a problem. I love Jolla ans SailfishOS and the updates come when they come. But when you're excited about an update... well, you probably know what I'm talking about :)

do it like me! If Jolla promises an update in this month. Then count two weeks on it! And when the update comes sooner, your joy is the higher ;)

Younited's Android app works with Jolla, though not perfectly.

Jolla should launch a countdown for updates. That could be used as solid marketing event.

A tweet don't give that free space in blogs and newspapers.

My guess Is Thursday, will be nice with a new upgrade.

How good is actually clamav in comparison? Most what I've heard is that not too good, or was it because sites were windows oriented?
