the best compliment i can get is 'i will buy the phone because of your toh', so thanks in advance ;)

zeiss cinemizer looks cool, but 'google cardboard' also works on jolla ;)

Yes it will.

Something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niU4qb8EnM4 + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vI3...utu.be&t=8m49s when you get a call, you have a calendar reminder or alarm.

And it will be like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miU6...youtu.be&t=56s when you get SMS or IM or email...

But when you got saifish update it will go https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLOk...youtu.be&t=30s or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77Ms...youtu.be&t=55s whichever you like more.

But we will see can you tune it to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkYomdjLkAk

bonus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7L-2vvZeJg ++ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej909h_YYD4

we are saving up to have enough orders to start. manufacturing and parts are not really cheap on this project. :)

dirkvl 2014-10-19 15:59

Re: Light Emitting TOH

update: enough orders for first batch, will be making order for smd parts today/tomorrow - now double checking we have the correct parts.

First batch of casings expected here NOV19.

PCBs are assembled as we speak, but no ETA yet (ready-when-they-are-ready kinda deal)

i finally saved up and bought jolla phone (again) just, and was about to buy LETOH but then i saw qi OH on funkyotherhalf.com

its such shame as now i cant decide which wins, practical (qi) or disco showboating - ideally both at same time?

can qi be added to LETOH also? and pay more? :)

casings are already here.

pcb assembly place is slow and has of now not yet (kimmo?) given an eta... we find this very sucky and are contacting them regularly as we are waiting also.

There has been problems in reflow. RGB leds are not behaving, the fix process is unfortunately manual.

pcbs are from finland on their way to holland, there they will be assembled with casing, get nfc tag and eeproms are programmed. then asap on the mail to final destinations!

Re: Light Emitting TOH

Note: Jolla is having their holiday-season, and there might be a delay in getting the application in the servers for automatic installation.
So don't panic if the phone says "This The OtherHalf doesn't work".

The first version only allows you to manually control color of each led, all leds, activate simple rotation animation, breathing and color loop and a VU meter.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-c...1221161938.jpg

The view above shows application state after pressing Rainbow'ze button.
The page edges shows corresponding led color. Those also acts as buttons to select that led color from a small palette.
Select color button sets color of all leds.

Connect the TOH before starting the application

Closing the application will turn the TOH power off.

VU meter runs on background even when phone is sleeping (or actually doesn't allow phone to sleep)
Other animation effects will pause when phone goes sleep.

Re: Light Emitting TOH

Thank you ..I did read it.

The Funky other half web site says-

"The LeTOH connects to your Jolla like any other TOH. It connects via the pogo pins and reads the NFC chip to download the software, or you can download the Beta version to get the latest "

There is no attempt at any kind of "automatic installation" I assumed that the idea was that the phone would at least, recognize a change of TOH and make some kind of response. - even if it was " Sorry closed for Christmas" :)

Phone does not say "This The OtherHalf doesn't work". -

Phone does not say anything?

If that is the way it is meant to be - fair enough I will wait :sad face:

"This The OtherHalf doesn't work" means that it is looking for the installation files in the Jolla store, which are not yet processed on Jolla's side. We cannot do anything about that on this side.

Re: Light Emitting TOH

Any chance of downloading the software somewhere else and sideload it on the phone? I just received my LETOH a couple minutes ago. This would have been so cool to show around at the 31C3 Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg...

Re: Light Emitting TOH

Hi,

There were some issues deploying tohiri to jolla store, and LeTOH stuff wasn't placed there as it had same structure and was expected to fail too.

The application can be downloaded from following link.

(Note: This is usable only with LeTOH OtherHalf...)

http://repo.merproject.org/obs//home...la.armv7hl.rpm

This would have been same package installed from Jolla store automatically.

Sorry for inconvenience and happy holidays

Some questions:

I assume you don't hear the notification sound when you attach LeTOH?
Do you hear this sound when you attach standard Jolla TOH?
Can you check from Settings>System>About device that there is (or not) The OtherHalf ID number ?

Check that your tohd service is running?
ps -A | grep tohd
or
devel-su systemctl status tohd

Have you disabled tohd service due the early sailfish version NFC related battery consumption issues?

Thanks Kimmoli for reading my original post, No there was no notification beep, and no message as described. Standard JollaTOH worked as expected, hence my original post.

Any way I switched it all off, blew on the phone and the LeTOH, well it used to work for game cartridges :D and this time there was a notification sound and the message at the top of the screen :happydance:

I download the rpm, and all works as expected - AMAZING!!!! BUT one of the lights does not work - middle -power button side :(

Does that mean I have to return it?

Received mine today, in time for christmas, thanks a lot!
Everything is fine so far :)

I like the quality of the OH, i must admit i was a bit worried because of the 3d print :) But it is really nice.

And the packaging was also really good.

So, looking forward for TOHKBD2 !

They are all tested with Rainbow'ze before shipping, but anything can happen. Send me a message via my site or reply to your shipment mail or whatever, and we will figure something out!

im really glad to have my leToh, and totally thankfull that dirk made it happen..

one thing i'm just curious about if there will be a software update that allows me to give a certain caller a certain colour for example..

is there something like that in the planning?
i would totally apreciate it.

thanks again and a good slide into the next yeah! to everybody...

yes, there are plans for sw update with more functionality.
propably merge parts of hyperion or such.
Nothing fixed yet, we'll see what 2015 brings :)

Just got mine and toying with it. :-)
Very funky stuff. :-D Congrats.

Is the software source available? It is very unstable for me and I could try debugging it.
I would also like to add tohd support to my pebbled (phone rings, notifications, etc.).

What you mean with unstable?

That app is available in my github

Re: Light Emitting TOH

When I play with the QML app it often crashes (mostly when changing modes). Then the LEDs do not work until I restart tohd.

https://github.com/kimmoli/letoh-app this one?
If I understand correctly, if I want to support LeTOH in my pebbled, I need to copy verbatim the whole code driving the I2C to my project? There is no library/service I could just tell what to do?

kimmoli 2015-01-02 15:08

Re: Light Emitting TOH

hmm..,
setting all white(ish) may draw excessive current, which gets the drivers borked.

yes that it is.

there is no service/lib atm.
i'm planning to do something soon(TM)
