No ! I think, Cepi is getting contribution from other channels too,
There is no harm if we have two good chat clients,
And if you can integrate some other chat services in one client ( just an idea :P ) [Remember Gravity ?].
This community have enough strength to support both i believe.

Very true! And Coderus deserves credit just for this very idea let lone for developing the client as development for other clients has stalled and there aren't many active developers for Meego these days, to my knowledge.

I am willing to donate and help in the development, but only if the code is released as free software in gitorious/github/etc

I hope that as a community we can start a whatsapp client for n9 project. Or at least a efficient codebase for the whatapp protocol that can be used for future clients.

Cepi already said that he lost source code and planing to resume work somewhere from a middle version.
We already know that no matter how good his application it is not open source,
It is also important to note that no one came forward to use Wazapp which is already available at github as open source.
Now when someone came forword to do something new and he has reputation of some very amazing MeeGo applications why we are dragging this to backward ?

I've posted, then deleted my post, but now I'm posting again.

Like the above two posters, I have no interest in whatsit but I applaud the idea and that's why I have also donated a small amount. We have precious few developers on our devices and we cannot afford to lose a single one of them.

I have vague memory of Knobviker developing a Viberversion for BB10 and also mentioned/hinted that a N9-version might be a possibility too. A pretty long time ago so maybe it's a nono now. As already mentioned...a vague memory :)

Anyway, I'm all for donating as well. I'm using Jolla as primary phone, but still love my N9.

Viber would be quite better than Whatsapp. It offers everything Whatsapp does, plus audio and video calls. I have so many people constantly using Viber. They pretty much buy pre paid credit and just enable data. Every communication is done through Viber.

There are simply enough a lot more whatsapp users on N9 then there would be Viber users if it was available. It is not 'profitable' enough to develop a viber version for Harmattan, even with a donationround or 2..

Coderus, any chance to tease us when you can/would/have something to tease? :)

Only giving ideas for you to either establish another company or expand :) We all wholeheartedly await a new Whatsapp client from you, but if you manage to get Viber working, it would make you a God :)
