Excuse me for the stupi question, but i cant understand what is " commandline (terminal)". I tyired to enable developer mode, but it didn't allowed me. It said: prepearing for installation...than...cant install. instalation package not found....

that was my error. Made editing Maps.conf and Drive.ini as normal user. devel-su or ssh root@ip doesnt pemit to edit this file in user directory

hi, i've been trying to log into chat by jabber, but after i set up the account it had gone online, but after a few seconds it went offline, also no contacts were donwloaded
another jaaber account (i tried Gadu Gadu) works properly
any idea?

For those unable to connect in facebook messenger, try this:

- Disconnect from internet and go to Accounts > Jabber/XMPP > In the Account JID field add your-facebook-id@chat.facebook.com

- In the Password field add your Facebook password

- Sign in

- After this in Connection server field add chat.facebook.com then save it and connect to internet. Works for me :)

I've found solution why properly configured jabber is not connecting to facebook. To do this, your facebook chat has to be active, it can't be turned off, then you can normally connect by jabber

I tried setting up gmail using the workaround provided in the first post, but it won't log in (it repeatedly keeps asking for the password). When I log in on my pc, there's a message from google saying "sign-in attempt prevented" and that I've tried to login with an "app that doesn't meet modern security standards."

Has anyone else encountered this, and if so what's the solution? Thanks in advance.

Actually, its not 'Android' security standards.
It Google, MS and others, that now uses best practises from NIST, fx use of SSL/TLSv1.0, which are insecure.

i've tried to set up the facebook chat with jabber, i have found the fb id with the graph link method and inserted my data with password. when i try to log in it says INCORRECT PASSWORD, what should i do?

with chat do you mean messages in the app? because if i press "chat" in the app, (not messages) and i activate it, then it asks me several times the password and it blocks there.

we can send and recive messages via Stock FB app , but if there an way to repair the chat api , it will be better

I tried to set up my gmail with all the above giving solutions.

Sadly none of them works on my N9..

I got most things running again on my N9, but I can't seem to get this working..

Has anyone gmail as mailclient setup recently? Can you share your method? Thanks!

Well if you want to use gmail on N9 in 2017 then you should
change the settings in your gmail account.
Go to the following link and change the settings to
Access for less secure apps > turn on
https://www.google.com/settings/secu...anexp=lbe-R1_C

And in your N9
go to accounts
add accounts
Choose "Other mail accounts"
Write your username (example@gmail.com) and password
tap on manual setup
choose imap4 or pop (i used imap4 with server imap.gmail.com)
SSL secured at port 993

outgoing server
smtp.gmail.com
SSL secured
465 port
authentication plain password.
and then you can reccieve and send emails through your Nokia N9.
Hope this helped someone. :)

Eventually managed to set up Hotmail with IMAP4 manually after a lot of fiddling:-

Incoming mail server:
Server address = imap-mail.outlook.com
Secure connection = SSL
Port = 993

Outgoing mail server:
Server address = smtp-mail.outlook.com
Secure connection = TLS
Port = 587
Authentication = Plain password

Is anyone else having trouble with Mail for Exchange and GMail on Nokia N9?

A week ago my email stopped sync-ing (endless spinning squircle in the top-right corner). At first I thought it was a corrupt .qmf directory, so I removed it as suggested in this post:

This has worked for me on one or two previous occasions.

This time it didn't help. I tried various combinations of deleting the directory, rebooting the device and, enabling/disabling and removing/recreating my email settings. During one of the attempts, it managed to sync mail once and then not again.

Now I have tried restoring a backup from July 2017, and email seems to sync again. :confused:

It works as a regular user.

It doesn't give any output on success, it just removes the directory.
You can run this command before and after and see if anything changes:

Code:

ls -la /home/user/ | grep qmf

Instead of removing the directory, you can rename it:

Code:

mv /home/user/.qmf/ /home/user/.qmf.bad/

...and then remove it after rebooting:

Code:

rm -rf /home/user/.qmf.bad/
