well, I think this are normal hiccups for a startup. The next thing is that they lost the support from one investor to be accurate. When the financing round will be successful all is fine. And this means a lot of the stuff employees will come back if they can. And the court proceedings wills stop then too I think. So not everything is like you described. And I'm convinced that they will get it. I think compare it all the time to meego, maemo etc. is not a good thing because big companies worked in the background. Like intel and nokia.

so stay positive

edit:
seems that the financing thing is done how you can see in later posts

Yes of course, that is why I was saying passing the phone to CepiPerez :)

Today, the dolar rates has been gone almost twice (!) in Argentina because of their new government....

So mailing from outside is at least not an option. The only good option would be to pass it out to someone who will go to Argentina :)

If anyone knows someone going to Argentina from USA and willing to take it with him/her and CepiPerez is willing to accept it and continue development, I will donate my Jolla for him.

SailfishOS is based on Mer, which started as a fork of MeeGo, and thus is a real descendant of MeeGo. Hence it's rpm-based.

Maybe Cepi just doesn't want to develop for Jolla any more.

Well he said [1] "My phone was stolen again" and [2] "I'm not planning buy another one since there's no more support from Jolla."

[1] is easily solvable (as noted in this thread),
[2] does not seem to be valid anymore, as Jolla is (supposedly) back in business.

So either he gives a good reason, or he comes back! :)

Well that's what i think as well.
Probably we have lost another one to the dark side. :(
Otherwise Cepi would have already posted in this thread again.

Seems like hardware related :(

Collecting some money so we could get CepiPerez a new PC/Notebook would be a nice I guess. No pc means no development.
I'm sure that if we can achieve this, CepiPerez would realize that it's not his time yet to leave us :)

An i5 with 4GB is around 5700 ARS (€400)

Edit: I would say, lets start a crowdfunding?
(but WITHOUT any loss to companies like Indiegogo!)

Count me in. He needs a jolla & a PC ~ 600€ Either he buys that in Argentina or we get it here and DHL it. Current free import is $ 300 only.

If they can post it in Argentina itself, no need to pay import taxes... right?

Btw, Easter is still a looooong time away at the moment...

I would also like to help.

Cepi, what can we do for you? Perhaps we could just send some money using Western Union (or a direct bank transfer). Or is there hardware you cannot buy there and need sent from abroad?

Your development effort is much appreciated, so I hope you continue with it. On the other hand, if you have really decided you have had enough, good luck, so long and thanks :)

Re: Good bye Sailfish

I don't need a new PC, just motherboard, micro and ram. My broken one is too old and I can't change only one part. I can buy it here, but my salary sucks and can't afford it. Also getting a phone is hard now.
I don't want to leave this wonderful community, but I can't keep asking for money. It makes me feel bad, everyone have problems and you don't need to worry about me.
Anyways, thanks everyone for your support.

Re: Good bye Sailfish

CepiPerez, could you describe :
- the type of motherboard, CPU and RAM ? And which are your preferences ?
- some good Argentine computer webshops which can ship to your address ?

In this way, it will be easier to the TMO community to take some action.

you should not feel bad about it. It's not that you are asking, people are offering. And you did so much for people here, you really are irreplaceable when it comes to SW for this community.

Re: Good bye Sailfish

Cepi don't worry about it. indeed is the same thing as donations..since it is a donation itself. Is a friendly Thanks for your work. so really dont stay in that bad feeling.
Tell us what you need, we are so many that with a beer for each one we can buy what u need. This is the community spirit we love, isnt it? on other OS ecosystem we would have had to pay for apps, right? so where's the problem if we offer a little money for you work?

good luck for you job, though, so sad to see a talented guy in such a bad economical situation

Well, note, that you're not asking for anything; we're offering. Besides, it seems only fair, considering we've been using for free the software you put so much effort in.

I suggest we collect some cash for the PC components and send it to you. Perhaps, indeed, someone like HtheB could act as collection point and pass the whole amount on to you, thereby avoiding administrative charges for multiple transactions.

Getting you a new phone would take some more thought, but I don't see why we should not be able to manage it. Got a new Jolla just a few weeks ago, so they are shipping again.

Just let us know what would be the best way to help you. You helped us already.

Whats the best way to get it there ?

The problem is that with fundraising websites, they take like 5% of the money and PayPal also can take like 3%.

So the best idea is to donate to CepiPerez directly.
I'll ask CepiPerez if he could make a rule in his gmail that if a donation comes, it'll forward the email notification to my own email. So I could make a new thread and will keep updating the thread with the donations made so far (including names + amount if desired by the person)

That is the most logical way to prevent money loss with those fundraising websites :(

Ok, the cheapest way to acquire a Jolla Phone should be here in Forum.

I am throwing 40€ into the ring, either to acquire this one from @noobismall or anotherone someone else may offer!

Where do we note confirmed donation intentions so we know when it is enough to buy Hardware and Phone and then send our individual donations to someone collectively??

Edit: Asked noobismall via pm if his phone is still avail. lets see.

He still need a PC. So any offer besides my N9 is still in question.
This is not a competition. This is to keep the best devs working. Nothing more, nothing less. Its my way of appreciation on how many of you helped me.
