so stay positive edit: seems that the financing thing is done how you can see in later posts |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
<+AnttiSaarnio> We have received financing to continue Sailfish OS development from our investors. THIS means that reports about Jolla's death are greatly exaggerated «smile»

Today, the dolar rates has been gone almost twice (!) in Argentina because of their new government.... So mailing from outside is at least not an option. The only good option would be to pass it out to someone who will go to Argentina :) |

Great news. First see if I will get the tablet I paid for.
Then in due course, order my Intex phone .. |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
CepiPerez, you could still dev for Saifish by installing it on a android phone ... no?

Maybe Cepi just doesn't want to develop for Jolla any more.

[1] is easily solvable (as noted in this thread), [2] does not seem to be valid anymore, as Jolla is (supposedly) back in business. So either he gives a good reason, or he comes back! :) |

Probably we have lost another one to the dark side. :( Otherwise Cepi would have already posted in this thread again. |

Cepi - Broken hardware or broken software?, what's the problem?, can we help sort your PC?, what's happened to it?, you really are not having much luck are you..?

if we can help, tell us

I'm sure that if we can achieve this, CepiPerez would realize that it's not his time yet to leave us :) An i5 with 4GB is around 5700 ARS (€400) Edit: I would say, lets start a crowdfunding? (but WITHOUT any loss to companies like Indiegogo!) |

Re: Good bye Sailfish
my friend and his wife are going there around Easter time. They live in UK and she said that it wouldn't be a problem to get something there but she won't go to BsAs this time, her parents are in Cordoba.

Btw, Easter is still a looooong time away at the moment... |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
I would also like to help.
Cepi, what can we do for you? Perhaps we could just send some money using Western Union (or a direct bank transfer). Or is there hardware you cannot buy there and need sent from abroad? Your development effort is much appreciated, so I hope you continue with it. On the other hand, if you have really decided you have had enough, good luck, so long and thanks :) |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
I don't need a new PC, just motherboard, micro and ram. My broken one is too old and I can't change only one part. I can buy it here, but my salary sucks and can't afford it. Also getting a phone is hard now.
I don't want to leave this wonderful community, but I can't keep asking for money. It makes me feel bad, everyone have problems and you don't need to worry about me. Anyways, thanks everyone for your support. |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
CepiPerez, could you describe :
- the type of motherboard, CPU and RAM ? And which are your preferences ? - some good Argentine computer webshops which can ship to your address ? In this way, it will be easier to the TMO community to take some action. |

Re: Good bye Sailfish
Cepi don't worry about it. indeed is the same thing as donations..since it is a donation itself. Is a friendly Thanks for your work. so really dont stay in that bad feeling.
Tell us what you need, we are so many that with a beer for each one we can buy what u need. This is the community spirit we love, isnt it? on other OS ecosystem we would have had to pay for apps, right? so where's the problem if we offer a little money for you work? good luck for you job, though, so sad to see a talented guy in such a bad economical situation |

I suggest we collect some cash for the PC components and send it to you. Perhaps, indeed, someone like HtheB could act as collection point and pass the whole amount on to you, thereby avoiding administrative charges for multiple transactions. Getting you a new phone would take some more thought, but I don't see why we should not be able to manage it. Got a new Jolla just a few weeks ago, so they are shipping again. Just let us know what would be the best way to help you. You helped us already. |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
where's the crowdfunding link? I'll happily chip in 20 quid
|
Re: Good bye Sailfish
i guest HtheB would be the one to open it,so we can donate to him and then he could give all the money/product to cep
|
Re: Good bye Sailfish
@hrbani suggested (thanks) that I sell one of my N9's.
Come on. Its a perfect condition. Black. 64G device ? Are you kidding me. Sell? No f...... way. I will give it to our beloved dev :) Whats the best way to get it there ? |
Re: Good bye Sailfish

So the best idea is to donate to CepiPerez directly. I'll ask CepiPerez if he could make a rule in his gmail that if a donation comes, it'll forward the email notification to my own email. So I could make a new thread and will keep updating the thread with the donations made so far (including names + amount if desired by the person) That is the most logical way to prevent money loss with those fundraising websites :( |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
Ok, the cheapest way to acquire a Jolla Phone should be here in Forum.
I am throwing 40€ into the ring, either to acquire this one from @noobismall or anotherone someone else may offer! Where do we note confirmed donation intentions so we know when it is enough to buy Hardware and Phone and then send our individual donations to someone collectively?? Edit: Asked noobismall via pm if his phone is still avail. lets see. |
Re: Good bye Sailfish
nieldk we want to make a gift all together, your offer wont stop us ahahaha. if you want we can pay to you that device for a friendly price.otherwise you are free to give that to him,but we will go foward straightly.
